Abstract

UMKM play an important role in the Indonesian economy, especially in the traditional snack food sector. However, the main challenge faced by UMKM players is the suboptimal packaging design that affects product competitiveness in modern markets. This study aims to develop innovative packaging for “Crispyek” peyek products to enhance visual appeal, strengthen brand identity, and support marketing strategies. The method applied is a case study on a micro crispyek business as part of business plan implementation. The activities carried out include developing a business plan, conducting market surveys, designing packaging, and implementing online and offline marketing. The packaging innovation evaluation took place over a three-month period. The results of the activities showed an improvement in packaging quality through three stages of innovation: initial plain plastic packaging, followed by aluminum foil packaging with complete information, and finally, environmentally friendly packaging made from transparent thinwall material. Marketing strategies were implemented through social media (WhatsApp and Instagram), door-to-door methods, and word of mouth. Packaging innovation has proven to be effective in enhancing consumer appeal, maintaining product quality, and supporting environmental sustainability. Thus, packaging design development has become a strategic factor in strengthening the competitiveness of SMEs in the digital era.

Abstract

This community service activity involves 1 partner, namely the Women Farmers Group (KWT) "Melati". The partner's problem is the lack of knowledge and skills. Partners don't know how to make flavor variants in frozen cassava, they can only make the original one. KWT women's lack of knowledge about good and hygienic packaging to attract consumer interest. The goal to be achieved is that it is hoped that the target community, especially KWT Melati, can apply the correct technology for flavor variants and frozen cassava packaging so that it can increase production and sales, thereby increasing the income of KWT members in particular and the community in general. The methods used in implementing this Community Service Program are counseling, training, technology demonstrations and mentoring. The results of the training on making frozen cassava with various flavors and packaging were attended by 30 members of the housewife group. Participants easily received the material because the training in making frozen cassava with various flavors and packaging technology was easy to do, the equipment used was simple, the ingredients were easy to obtain, especially cassava, which was always available, easy to apply in the household and participants were satisfied with the training provided.

Abstract

The tofu industry is growing because it is a cheap and nutritious food, but the production process produces liquid and solid waste that is harmful to the environment. The research aims to describe the community's perception of the social, economic, and environmental conditions of the tofu-making business and calculate the value of community losses to maintain ecosystem value. This research uses survey and interview methods with communities in tofu production centers. Data analysis using the CVM method (Contingent Valuation Method) to estimate the costs that the community will pay. The research results show that the community's response around the tofu-making business to the social environment is in the category of not providing employment opportunities and children's education. The community's response to economic aspects is in the disagree category, meaning that the tofu-making business has no impact on increasing people's income and purchasing power. Respondents disagreed that tofu liquid waste disturbed the surrounding environment. Before being discharged into waterways, liquid waste goes through a processing process in a wastewater treatment plant (IPAL) so that liquid waste discharged into rivers is free from chemicals and odor. Meanwhile, solid waste is sold for animal feed. Value of willingness to pay (willingness to pay) community to maintain ecosystem value of IDR 80,450/year/KK.

Abstract

Extension workers are among the contributors to agricultural activities. They are to provide guidance and knowledge through the latest information or innovation to enhance farming systems, which ultimately increases crop yields. Additionally, extension workers pursue to transform the behavior of farmers, for instance, their ability to adapt to continually changing situations and conditions. This research aims to analyze the role and effectiveness of agricultural extension in clove plantations in Enrekang Regency. The research was carried out in Buntu Barana Village, Curio District, Enrekang Regency, with 100 farmers as respondents. The results revealed that the extension process employing a group approach method attended by farmers and extension workers who provide knowledge regarding clove cultivation, starting from seeding, maintenance and fertilization, pest control, and postharvest, was successful, meeting farmers’ expectations. In this case, the instructor carries out his role well and effectively. The roles of agricultural instructors are facilitators, communicators, and motivators in the clove cultivation in Buntu Barana Village, Curio District, and they have been considered by the farmers effective in carrying out all roles, especially in clove cultivation activities.

Abstract

Tanaman kakao merupakan salah satu komoditi unggulan Sulawesi Selatan, namun produktivitasnya mengalami penurunan. Penggunaan pupuk Organik dari limbah kakao merupakan salah satu alternatif yang bisa diterapkan dan dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan produktifitas  komoditas kakao. Metode yang diterapkan pada pelaksanaan program kegiatan IbM ini adalah pemberian pelatihan Ipteks kepada kelompok tani Mitra. berupa:  1) Pemberian materi wirausaha pada usaha pembuatan bokashi/kompos dari kulit buah (pod) kakao; 2) Pemberian pelatihan dan penyuluhan berupa teori tentang cara penanganan limbah di kebun kakao melalui sanitasi lingkungan kebun., 3). Pemberian pelatihan dan penyuluhan berupa teori tentang cara pemanfatan limbah kulit kakao sebagai bahan pembuatan pupuk organik atau kompos; 4) Pemberian pelatihan dan penyuluhan berupa teori tentang cara pemeliharaan tanaman kakao yang sudah berproduksi secara menyeluruh komprehensip berupa pengendalian hama, penyakit, pemangkasan tanaman dan melakukan panen sering untuk menghindari serangan PBK pada buah kakao; 5) Memberikan pelatihan dan demonstrasi tentang cara pembuatan pupuk organik atau kompos dengan memanfaatkan limbah buah kakao yang ada di sekitar lahan perkebunan.; 6) Memberikan pelatihan dan demonstrasi tentang cara pengemasan pupuk organik atau kompos yang diproduksi. 7) Monitoring kegiatan pemeliharaan tanaman kakao yang dilakukan oleh Mitra; 8) Monitoring kegiatan keberlanjutan proses produksi kakao herbal yang dilakukan oleh Mitra; 9) Monitoring dan evaluasi program kegiatan IbM secara keseluruhan. Kegiatan  pelatihan dan pendampingan pada kelompok tani kakao dapat berlangsung dengan  baik dan  lancar karena didukung oleh respon yang antusias oleh Mitra; Praktek pelatihan dan pembuatan pupuk kompos dari limbah kulit kakao sangat disenangi oleh mitra karena memberikan pengetahuan yang baru bagi mitra khususnya pemanfaatan limbah kulit buah kakao serta pemberian materi kewirausahaan dan pemeliharaan kebun kakao serta pengemasan pupuk kompos yang mereka hasilkan sehingga mampu memberikan tambahan pendapatan bagi petani mitra.
