Abstract

The beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in Salatiga began in March 2020 which caused a shortage of commercial hand sanitizer supplies. The production of herbal hand sanitizer is a solution for commercial products. This community service activity aims to produce herbal hand sanitizer to overcome the scarcity of hand sanitizer in Salatiga City. The method used is a laboratory experiment with stages; plant inventory, production of hand sanitizer, and antimicrobial testing. Inventory is done by collecting library-journal information, then conducting a field survey. The production of sanitizing liquid is carried out by laboratory experiments to get a good formulation. Antimicrobial test was carried out by diffusion technique. Herbal hand sanitizing liquid made from green betel, red betel, citronella, and star anise and the results of antimicrobial analysis have medium inhibition. A total of 1041.5 l of herbal hand sanitizer that have been distributed to the public free of charge. Testimonials from people who use herbal hand sanitizer are that they are not dry on the hands, not sticky, and have a fragrant aroma. The resulting product is still below commercial products on the market, but still has effectiveness in killing microorganisms.

Abstract

Free diving (freedive) depends on the ability to hold the breath (apnea). Apnea is thought to have a correlation with the body's ability to consume oxygen (VO2max). This research aims to study the correlation between VO2max and apnea ability. Subjects in this study were men aged 20-25 years as many as 36 people. VO2max measured using MFT test, while the measurement of apnea ability is represented by the duration of apnea as measured by the duration of sitting still under water. The results of one-way correlation tests were found to be p<0.05, which means there was a correlation between VO2max and apnea duration. While the correlation coefficient of -0.44 shows that the direction of the correlation is negative with the strength of the correlation is weak. From these results it can be concluded that the higher VO2max there is a tendency for apnea ability to be lower.

Abstract

Abstract: Indonesia Basic Health Research Data shows that the number of stroke patients diagnosed by health care practitioner increased from 8.3/1000 (2007) to 12.1/1000 (2013). After the stroke, the patient experiences physical, psychological, and social weakness in a long-term recovery process. As a result, the patient becomes partially or even completely dependent on others in performing daily activities. The member of family would accompany and care for the patient during their recovery period. This study aims to identify the relationship between family support and activity of daily living (ADL) in post-stroke patients at Graha Medika Salatiga Clinic. Correlation bivariate quantitative with random sampling technique is used in this research. The sample size was determined by the slovin formula. Data were analyzed using Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed that family support (0.005) and ADL (0.009) normality test was significant. Majority of family members' support (53.28%) and ADL post-stroke patients (67.21%) were quite good. The relationship between the two variables above is strong with a correlation value of 0.730 and the correlation coefficient interval rs value 0.60-0.80 (strong relationship). Abstract

Apnea ability is the main determining factor of freediving performance. Apnea relates to physiological factors that might be experienced by a free diver hence its ability is highly likely to correlate with various factors of human physiology. One of the suspected factors that affect apnea duration is body fat level. The fact that fat is distributed in almost all parts of the body, including respiratory organs and tracts, arises the suspicion of a possible correlation between fat accumulation and apnea ability. This research studies the correlation between body fat level and apnea duration. 30 males, aged 18-22 were the research participant. Body fat levels were measured using Bioelectrical Impedance Analyzer, while apnea duration was measured by the length of which the participants hold their breath while sitting silently in the pool. The obtained data were then analyzed using a series of tests: normality, correlation, and linear regression tests. Pearson Correlation test shows negative result (p0,05) with the value of correlation coefficient -0.611 which means negative correlation with medium strength. The result of the linear regression test also shows a similar value of 0.611. Meanwhile, the value of the determinant coefficient (R square) is 0.374 (37.4%). Based on the value obtained, it can be inferred that body fat levels have 37.4% influence on the duration of apnea, while the other 62.2% are influenced by a variety of other factors

Abstract

The general retirement age is 50-60 year old related to the assumption that, as people get older, a person will experience degeneration of brain cells which results in cognitive function decrease that affects work quality and productivity. Physical activity is believed to help reduce the cognitive function decrease in elderlies and provide opportunities to extend the productive period. This study was aimed at finding out the cognitive function differences in physically active elderlies and physically inactive elderlies, as well as the relationship between the level of daily physical activity and cognitive function of the elderlies. This study was an observative analytic study involving 90 elderlies ( 50 years) grouped into 2 groups based on the intensity of their daily physical activities. The instrument used for measuring physical activity level was GPAQ and the cognitive function measurement instrument was MMSE. The data obtained were analyzed by independent t-test and correlation test. The results showed a significant cognitive function difference (p 0.05) in the high physical activity group (KT) and the low physical activity group (KR). Correlation test showed a strong relationship (p 0.05) between the intensity of daily physical activity and cognitive function of the elderlies.

Abstract

(English)To achieve an Open Water Diver (OWD) license, a diver is required to complete a minimum of four open water dives, which are typically carried out during the certification exam for open water diving. These initial dives are known to present challenges and difficulties for divers. The present study aims to identify the specific issues that arise during the first four open water dives in the training and certification of Open Water Divers. A total of ten participants who had undergone OWD certification training between September 2-5, 2022, in Karimunjawa waters, were selected to participate in the study. The participants consisted of three male and seven female divers, aged between 19-23 years old. The study identified a range of challenges experienced by the participants, including five physiological issues, seven equipment-related technical problems, and thirteen issues related to material mastery. Almost all participants reported encountering some form of difficulty during their first four open water dives. However, the severity of these issues was generally mild, and they did not significantly impede the diving process. The findings of this study suggest that novice divers are likely to encounter difficulties during their initial open water dives. Nevertheless, these issues can be addressed through experience and training. The study highlights the importance of developing strategies and interventions that aim to reduce the occurrence of these issues and enhance the overall safety and effectiveness of open water diving certification programs(Indonesian)Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi permasalahan spesifik yang muncul selama empat penyelaman perairan terbuka pertama dalam pelatihan dan sertifikasi Penyelam Perairan Terbuka. Abstract

(English)Currently, in the field of sports and health it is believed that individuals who are active in physical activity or exercise regularly have a lower heart rate compared to sedentary individuals, both at rest and during physical activity. The heart rate reflects the intensity of a person's physical activity. This study aims to prove differences in heart rate frequency in active individuals and sedentary individuals when performing anaerobic physical activities. The subjects of this study were 16 active men and 16 sedentary men aged 18-24 years. This study used an experimental method with treatment in the form of anaerobic physical activity, namely push-ups, sit-ups and squats sequentially and monitoring the heart rate was recorded every 10 seconds. The results showed that the active group had a lower heart rate compared to the sedentary group when doing anaerobic physical activity. The conclusion of this study is that when doing the same anaerobic physical activity, for active individuals the increase in physical activity intensity that occurs is not as great as that experienced by sedentary individuals. Copyright © The Author (s) 2023Journal of Sport Education (JOPE) is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.
