Abstract

Research of aims to determine the intensity attact of pest populations O. rhinoceros on plant oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) Immature. The research was conducted at PT. Inecda Plantation Tani Makmur village subdistrict of Rengat BaratIndragiri Hulu in February-March 2016. The study was a survey research using purposive sampling method to determine swath systematic sampling to determine the plant samples. The Parameter was description of the research sites, O. rhinoceros flyblow, population of O. rhinoceros bettle and intensity of pest attacks O. rhinoceros. The results were obtained flyblow population of 1.6 O. rhinoceros, O. rhinoceros beetle population as much as 58.16 tail / ferotrap / week and intensity pest attacks of 22.76% , Keywords: O. rhinoceros Linn, plant oil palm, the intensity of the attacks

Abstract

This study aims to obtain the best concentration of bintaro leaf flour extract to control golden snails in rice plants. This research was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications, so that 20 experimental units obtained. Each unit of experiment was infested with 10 golden snails aged 30 days. The treatments given several concentrations of bintaro leaf extract, namely 0 g.l-1 water, 25 g.l-1 water, 50 g.l-1 water, 75 g.l-l water, and 100 g.l-1 water. The parameters observed were initial time of death (hours), lethal time 50 (LT50) (hours), daily mortality (%), total mortality (%) and daily temperature and humidity of the study site. Data were analyzed statistically using analysisof variance and further tests with the Least Significant Difference (LSD). The results showed that the extract of bintaro leaves given at the highest concentration off 100 g.l-1 of water produced the golden snail mortality which tended to be the best with the fastest initial death at 93,75 hours, the fastest lethal time 50 at 155,25 hours, the highest daily mortality percentage of 22% and total mortality by 65% for 168 hours of observation, but not yet effective in turning off golden snails by more than 80%.Keywords: Rice plants, golden snail (Pomacea canaliculata L.), botanical insecticide

Abstract

The fundamental principles of integrated pest management system is monitoring ecosystem. An important aspect in monitoring ecosystem is observation the abundance of aphids and mealybugs the Citrus nobilis. The purpose of this research is to determine the abundance of aphids and mealybugs the Citrus nobilis Lour. in the of Village Kuok Kuok District Kampar Regency Riau Province. The research using survey method. Observation location was determined by selecting two gardens. Plant samples was determined to the method of systematic sampling with a zig zag pattern. Method was doing of aphids and mealybugs in two types by direct taking on plants and with Moericketraps. Parameters observation were description locations, species identification and total individual ofaphids and mealybugs, abundance of aphids and mealybugs and the persentage attack of aphids and mealybugs. The result showed that abundance of aphids and mealybugs in Citrus nobilis were Toxoptera sp., Aphis gossypii, Aonidiella aurantii, Lepidosaphes beckii, Myzus persicae, aleurocanthus woglumi, Bemisia tabaci and Planococcus citri species. The highest abundance of aphids and mealybugs species in Citrus nobilis was Toxoptera sp.  with 98.90 individual per plant and relative abundance of 37.15%. Keywords: Citrus nobilis Lour., Aphids and Mealybugs, Abundance

Abstract

Mealybug (Paracoccus marginatus)is a major pest on papaya. The use of alternative botanical pesticide controls that are more environmentally friendly in accordance with the concept of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). The use of botanical pesticide, such as Ocimum Sanctum. Is one of the plants that can be used as botanical pesticide. The purpose of this researchis to obtain the concentration of basil flour extract which effectively controlled the papaya mealybug.This research was conducted in the field using Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The concentration of basil flour extract treatment are 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, and 8%.Basil leaf flour extract concentration 8% was gave the fastest time in shutting down 50% of papaya mealybug with a time 20.50 hours and papaya mealybug pest control with a mortality rate of 87.50%.Keywords: Papaya (Carica papaya), papaya mealybug (Paracoccus marginatus), basil (Ocimum sanctum)

Abstract

Sweet corn crop (Zea mays saccaharata Sturt.) is the second food crop after rice. The main pest that attacks corn cobs and thus reduces production is Helicoverpa armigera. The control offered uses the noni (Morinda citrifolia L.) botanicalinsecticide. The aim of this study was to obtain a concentration of noni     (Morinda citrifolia L.) seed flour extract which was effective against the sweet corn cob borerHelicoverpa armigera. The research was conducted at the Plant Pest Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University. The research was conducted from June to August 2021. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of five treatments and four replications in order to obtain 20 experimental units. The treatment used was the concentration of noni seed flour extract as follows: 0 g.l-1 water, 25 g.l-1 water, 50 g.l-1 water, 75 g.l-1 water, and 100 g.l-1 water. The parameters observed were the initial time of death, lethal time, daily mortality, total mortalityandchanges in behavior and morphology of larvae of Helicoverpa armigera. The results showed that the concentration of 100 g.l-1 water noni seed flour extract was able to control Helicoverpa armigera larvae with a total mortality of 72% but it was not yet effective in controlling Helicoverpaarmigera larvae because they had not been able to kill test insects of more or the same 80% at a maximum concentration of 10%.Key words :Morinda citrifolia L.,Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner), Botanical insecticide, concentration

Abstract

The main obstacles to upland rice is the attack of rice seed bug pest(Leptocorisa acuta T.).These pests attack by sucking mature rice grains at the time of milk, causing grain becomes empty. Environmental pest control was offered using the biological control of the fungus Metarhizium anisopliae Metsch (Sorokin). The aim of  the study was to obtain the best local isolate concentration of the entomopathogenic fungi Metarhizium anisopliae in controlling the rice seed bug pest(Leptocorisa acuta T.) pest in upland rice.The research has been implemented in the experimental garden (green house),  Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau which from January to April 2020. The research is prepared using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 repeat, namely the concentration of Metarhizium anisopliae 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 g l-1 distilled water.The observed parameters are, morphology changes and behavior, the start time of the death (hours), lethal time 50 (hours),  daily mortality (%), total mortality (%),  temperature and humidity.  The results showed that the concentration of 60 g l-1 distilled water was the best concentration in controlling nymphs of Rice Seed Bug Pestwith an initial time of death of 90 hours, LT50 174.25 hours after application and a total mortality of 90%.Keywords: Oryza sativa L., Leptocorisa acuta T., Biological Control, Metarhizium anisopliae Metsch (Sorokin), Concentration

Abstract

The research was purposed to study the effect and get the best dosage of formulated leguminose Tricho-compost on cocoa seedlings (Theobroma cacao L.). The research was conducted by Completely Randomized Design (CRD) that consists of 5 treatment and 4 repelication, ex formulated leguminose Tricho-compost dosage 0 g/polybag, 25 g/polybag, 50 g/polybag, 75 g/polybag and 100 g/polybag. The parameters observed were seed height, leaf number, stem diameter, leaf area, wet weight, root volume, root shoots ratio and dry weight of seedlings. The results of research showed that the giving of formulated leguminose tricho-compost of 75 g/polybags was the best dosage that could increase the height of seedlings, leaf number, stem diameter, leaf area, wet weight, root volume, root shoots ratio and dry weight of cocoa seedlings.Keywords: cocoa, leguminose, tricho-compost, formulated

Abstract

The usage of synthetic insecticide commonly used to control pest has negative impact on human helath and environment. The soursop (Annona muricata L.) leaves had been frequently tested for controlling pest at various concentration and spraying interval. This research was conducted at farmer field at Simpang baru panam, Pekanbaru city. This research was carried out by factorial experiment of group randomized design with two factors, four and two levels, and three repklications. The first factor  was different concentration of soursop leaves extract, and the second factor was the spraying interval was effective to prevent Myzus persicae pest.

Abstract

Synthetic insecticide which is commonly used to control pest has negative impact to human health and environment. Besides, it is not effective to prevent pest. However, the usage of insecticide made of plant can provide an alternative because it has less side effects and easy degradation in nature. The Nimba plant (Azadirachta indica) is know to have insecticide element, anti-eating, and able to disturb the growth of insects. This research was carried out at the laboratory of plant protection Faculty of Agriculture and the Laboratory of Biology Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, Riau University. The research was carried out by factorial experiment in Completely Randomized Design with three factors, seven levels, and five replications. The three factors were the spraying of nimba leaves extract on the larvae Spodoptera litura by different solvent and water thinner which were methanol solvent and acetone thinner, methanol solvent and water thinner, and water solvent and water thinner. The treatment of each factor resulted in the different extract concentration of nimba leave. Those are 0%, 1%, 3%, 6%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. The result of research proved that nimbi leave extract using methanol solvent and acetone thinner had better result in poisoning pest. At 1% concentration level it was effective to prevent larvae S. litura which was equivalent with the concentration of 15% nimbi leave extract with methanol solvent and water thinner, and also with 20% nimbi leave extract with water solvent and water thinner.

Abstract

The study on the innuence of altitude and season toward aphid population fluctuation inpotato plant. This research was carried out in Rimbo Data, Aia Butunibuak and Sukaraniiareas. Aphid identification was done in Laboratory of Agronomy Study Program, Faculty ofAgriculture, Andalas University, Padang, and in the Research Hall of Fruit Plant, Solok. Theaphid population fluctuation was observed by capturing the aphid flying by installing threetraps of Moerickc tray put in the potato plantation in each area. Treatment of this researchwas in the difference of position altitude of the capture area, viz, Rimbo Data (1,700 mDPL), Aia Batunibuak (1.350 m DPL), and Sukaranii (1.000 in DPL). The research resultshowed that the aphid population in the potato plantation was lower in the area of RimboData (1.700 m DPL) compared with the area of Aia Baturnbuak (1,350 m DPL) and Sukarami(1.000 m DPL). The period witliout aphid was only found in the area of Rimbo Data atOctober, and January, The type of dominant aphid in Rimbo Data was Macrosiphumeiiphorbiae, in Aia Baturnbuak and Sukaranii were Aphis fabae.
