In conveying ideas, speaking skills are very important to be honed. That way we candeliver the message that we will create through speaking, and make it easier for people whoneed information to understand about the meaning. This study aims at finding out the correlationbetween students’ listening English songs habit with speaking achievement of the tenth grade studentsof SMK SMSR Ubud in academic year 2020/2021. In taking the research, simple random sampling wasapplied. The design was ex-post facto correlational research design. In collecting the data of thisresearch, the writer used two instruments which were listening English songs habit questionnaireconsisted of 30 items distributed through Google Form and monologue speaking test distributedthrough Google Zoom. The data was analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation in IBMSPSS Statistics. Acording to the result of the analysis and statistical calculation, it is found that r was0.957. It shows that there is significant correlation between listening English songs habit with speakingachievement of the tenth grade students of SMK SMSR Ubud in academic year 2020/2021. It liesbetween 0.800 – 1.00 which is in very high level.

This classroom action research is conducted to 32 subjects aims at figuring the improvement of speaking skill of the tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 Gianyar through implementing talking chips combined with picture. Talking chips is a technique of teaching speaking in this present study which have two elements such: Talk and Chips. The research was carried out through implementing talking chips combined with picture in two cycles and the obtained data was analyzed quantitatively from pre-test, post-test 1 and post-test 2; then quantitatively from questionnaire. The result showed that there was a significant improvement in the subjects’ skill in speaking descriptive monologue. Moreover, the questionnaire proved that the subjects agreed toward the implementation of talking chips combined with picture during the teaching learning process. Based on the result of the investigation, it can be concluded that the speaking skill of the tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 Gianyar in academic year 2020/2021 can be improved through talking chips combined with picture.

This correlational study aims to find out the correlation between reading speed and students’ reading comprehension at the eleventh-grade students of SMK PGRI 3 Badung in academic year 2020/2021. There are two research instruments, they are reading speed test and reading comprehension test. The samples were 10% from the population in eleventh grade students which consist of 38 students. The obtained data was analyzed through pre-requisite and hypothesis analysis. The result of hypothesis testing of this research were r- value is higher than r- table = 0.806 > 0.413. Then, the result showed if the correlation between reading speed and students’ reading comprehension was significant. It means that alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) rejected. Considering the explanation before, it could be concluded that there is a significant correlation between reading speed and students’ reading comprehension at the eleventh grade students of SMK PGRI 3 Badung in academic year 2020/2021.

This study dealt with the correlation between vocabulary mastery and descriptive text writing skill of the tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 Kuta Selatan in academic year 2021/2022. It made used of an ex post facto research design. There were 32 students who were chosen as the samples which was chosen by means of cluster random sampling technique with lottery system. The researcher used two research instruments such as: cloze test for the vocabulary mastery and written descriptive text for the writing skill. The technique of analyzing data were descriptive statistics and inferential analysis using SPSS 16.0. The data were analyzed by using Pearson-Product Moment and t-test. The data of homogeneity was 0.329 and the data of normality of vocabulary mastery was 0.27 while writing skill was 0.55. Furthermore, it was found that the correlation coefficient obtained is 0.781. It shows that there is significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and descriptive text writing skill.

This is a classroom action research which aimed to improve the speaking ability of the Pandawa Staff at Kutuh Village. The subjects of this research are 16 people which had low ability at speaking English especially in explaining about Pandawa Beach and its surrounding. It can be seen from the pre test which was 49.81. To solve this problem, the researcher used a speaking technique which is called Role Play to improve their speaking ability. The data of this research were collected from the pre test, post test 1, post test 2, post test 3 which were analyzed with statistical analysis. The result of this researh showed a significant improvement in speaking ability after the implementation Role Play. It can be seen from the average value of the pre cycle, cycle I, cycle II, cycle III, which were: 49.81 ; 59.56; 67.69; and 76.88.

Listening is one of the four language skills that must be mastered by ESL students. Listening skill plays important role in communication to respond to what people speak. The present research was mainly based on the preliminary observation of 30 subjects in Semester 4A of the English Language Education Study Program which showed that most of the subjects’ listening skill was still low. Besides, the present research was intended to know whether or not the listening skill of the fourth-semester students in 4A class of the English Language Education Study Program can be improved through the use of podcasts. To achieve the objective, the researcher conducted classroom action research that was done in two cycles. Furthermore, the required data were obtained by administering the research instruments: tests and a questionnaire. The collected data were then analyzed by comparing the pre-test and post-tests, which showed significant improvements in the subjects’ mean scores from the pre-test to post-tests. Furthermore, the questionnaire results showed the subjects’ positive responses to the use of podcasts in teaching Listening. Based on the results of the research instruments, it could be concluded that the listening skill of the students in 4A Class of the English Language Education Study Program can be improved through the use of a Podcast.

The present study is a correlational study which its objective is to find out the correlation between twelfth-grade students’ vocabulary mastery and their writing ability in analytical exposition text. Population of the study is the twelfth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Gianyar in academic year 2021/2022. There are 72 students of the population that have been chosen as the sample of the present study by applying random sampling method which involved lottery system. Multiple cloze test items are used to obtain the data of vocabulary mastery while the data of the students’ writing ability is acquired by writing analytical exposition text with the given topic. By using Pearson Product-moment Formula, the researcher assessed the obtained data and analysed by SPSS 23 version for Windows. The data analysis showed the significant value that is considered as a moderate and significant correlation. It could be concluded that there is a significant correlation between twelfth-grade students’ vocabulary mastery and their ability in writing analytical exposition text at SMA Negeri 1 Gianyar in academic year 2021/2022.

The purpose of this study is to find out the correlation between grammar mastery and speaking ability. The subject of the study was the eighth grade students of SMP TP 45 Denpasar in academic year 2021/2022 with a total of 40 students. The design of this research is a correlation that includes quantitative research. There were two instruments to judge the students’ skills in students’ grammar mastery and students’ speaking ability. The instruments were constructed based on the criteria suggestions of the first and second advisors. There were two variables in this research, independent variable (X) and dependent variable (Y), where grammar mastery as (X) speaking ability as (Y) variable. Quantitative analysis was done using statistics which is called statistics analysis or inferential statistics on SPSS 24 Version. Based on the data analysis, it was figured out that there was a significant correlation between students’ grammar mastery and students’ speaking ability of the eighth grade students of SMP TP 45 Denpasar in academic year 2021/2022. Based on the result by using SPSS 24 Version from the table 4.5 the correlation for students’ grammar mastery and students’ speaking ability was 0.423. In addition, these two data were correlated with each other.

Ex post facto correlational research was used as the design of this research to find out the significant correlation between grammar mastery and writing ability of the eighth-grade students of SMPN 5 Mengwi in academic year 2021/2022. Grade eight students from SMPN 5 Mengwi were used as the population for this study and through sampling method using lottery system, 64 students were selected as samples. Data were collected by through a writing test and a paragraph construction test. Pre-requisite analysis and hypothesis testing were performed to analysed the data obtained. The data were found to be normally and homogeneously distributed. As a result of the hypothesis test, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was confirmed. In short, the findings confirm a significant correlation between grammar mastery and writing ability of the eighth-grade students of SMPN 5 Mengwi in academic year 2021/2022. Therefore, the result of the study can be used as the reinforcement for a teacher to teach grammar to the students, since a good grammar mastery can give an opportunity to have a better writing ability.

ABSTRACT Speaking competency is one of the necessary language competencies to be mastered by the students. In fact, the teaching learning process on Speaking Course became one of the frightening courses, and it sometimes decreased the students’ self-confidence because the implementation of inappropriate teaching technique. In the present study, Balinese Folklores-based Reflective Storytelling as the teaching model was implemented to deal with the problem. The present classroom action research was intended to figure out how speaking competency can be improved through Balinese Folklores-based Reflective Storytelling and how the students respond the implementation of Balinese Folklores-based Reflective Storytelling. The third semester students of English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Mahasaraswati Denpasar University consisting of 71 students were chosen as the subjects of the study. The findings clearly showed that the speaking competency of the subjects can be improved through the implementation of Balinese Folklores-based Reflective Storytelling. In addition, the subjects also responded positively the implementation of Balinese Folklores-based Reflective Storytelling in teaching speaking.
