Abstract

This study aims to describe the reduction of misconceptions about pressure material with conflict cognitive strategies in science learning with structured inquiry models. This study uses a pre-experimental method with One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The target of this study was students of VIII-A and VIII-K SMPN 19 Surabaya in the second semester of the school year 2019-2020. The results showed that the percentage of class VIII-A misconceptions was 49.67% and class VIII-K was 60.67%. After learning, the percentage of class VIII-A misconceptions was 3.67% and class VIII-K was 4.33%. From the results of the pretest and posttest, the percentage of misconceptions decreased, with the percentage of class VIII-A decreasing by 46.00% and class VIII-K by 56.33%. The largest shift percentage was from misconceptions to understand the concepts after learning. The effectiveness of learning shown from the results of the N-Gain score, and the results of the N-gain score obtained by 0.938 for class VIII-A and 0.937 for class VIII-K, and both of the classes classified in the high category. Based on the results it can be concluded that the strategy of conflict cognitive in learning science with structured inquiry models can reduce student's misconceptions about pressure material.Keywords: Strategy of conflict cognitive, misconception, structured inquiry

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the Science card game to improve student learning outcomes. This type of research is the development using the Research and Development (R&D) model. The research design used was a one-group pretest-posttest design conducted on 32 students of class VIII-F of SMPN 50 Surabaya. The results of the effectiveness study were reviewed through two aspects: student learning outcomes and student questionnaire responses. Student learning outcomes can be reviewed from the results of the pretest and posttest. Obtained the average results of student pretest of 50.00 and the average posttest results of 84.79. Obtained an increase of 100% with details of 62.50% of students or as many as 20 students get an increase with a moderate category, and 37.50% or as many as 12 students get an increase in the high category. The average N-gain score was 0.68 in the medium category. Then the results of student responses showed an average of "Yes" answers of 96.31% and "No" answers of 3.69%. Based on the two results, the media game Science card game is considered effective for improving student learning outcomes.Keywords: Effectiveness, Science Card Game, and Student Learning Outcome

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused the government make policies by implementing online learning methods. Practical activities in the laboratory are not possible during online learning, so the lecturer develops student activity sheets as a practical guide at home with tools and materials that are easily found. This study aims to develop the validity and practicality of student activity sheets based on inquiry in the solution course, especially for making solutions from solid and liquid materials. Validity is viewed from the criteria of content, language, and presentation. Meanwhile, the practicality in terms of student activities during the learning process and student responses after the implementation of developed student activity sheets. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) design and is limited only to a limited product trial stage. The research was conducted on 91 students majoring in science class. The research instrument consisted of validation sheets, student activity observation sheets, and student response questionnaires. Data analysis that used in this study is descriptive quantitatively with percentage techniques. The results indicate that the developed student activity sheets are valid and very valid category because it reaches a value of 2.9. The most dominant student activity is discussing with a group of friends. The student activity sheet also received good and very good (positive) responses from students because it reached a percentage of 61% with good and very good categories. So it can be concluded that the developed student activity sheets are declared feasible to be used in the learning process.

Abstract

Blended learning is basically a combination or mixture found in learning practice. Blended learning is a further development of the e-learning method, namely learning methods that combine e-learning systems with conventional or face-to-face methods. The purpose of this study was to determine the validity of the models and learning devices both in terms of content and model constructs, as well as to find out student responses to the model developed. The model developed was validated through a forum mechanism, namely, focus group discussion (FGD) which was followed by researchers and experts. The suggestions and improvements generated from the validation activities were then followed up to revise the Inquiry Collaborative Tutorial-based blended learning model. Inquiry Collaborative Tutorial-based blended learning model and learning devices developed in this study have met valid criteria in content and construct. Valid content because there are elements of need and novelty, as well as valid constructs because there is consistency between parts of the model and there is relevance between the models developed with learning theories that underlie it. In general, the average student responds positively to the blended learning model based on the Inquiry Collaborative Tutorial. The model applied is considered to provide opportunities for students to actively participate.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa (LKM) Dasar-dasar IPA yang diharapkan dapat membekali mahasiswa calon guru IPA dengan keterampilan proses sains sekaligus nilai-nilai positif melalui pendidikan karakter. Pendidikan karakter ini dianggap perlu karena maraknya konflik-konflik intoleransi dan keadilan sosial yang terjadi di masyarakat akhi-akhir ini. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai integritas bangsa Indonesia perlu mendapatkan perhatian, terutama dalam hal etika, moral, dan kepercayaan. Pentingnya nilai-nilai ini karena semangat gotong royong dan saling bekerjasama merupakan karakter Bangsa Indonesia. LKM yang dikembangkan melalui tahapan perancangan, penyusunan, validasi, dan revisi sehingga dihasilkan produk LKM Dasar-dasar IPA berbasis model ALLR (Activity Based-Lesson Learn-Reflection). Hasil pengembangan LKM menghasilkan empat kegiatan LKM yang dibagi menurut topik pembahasan yang berbeda-beda dengan menggunakan serangkaian aktivitas yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains. Selain itu, LKM juga dirancang untuk pengintegrasikan pendidikan melalui pembelajaran pemaknaan konten-konten IPA ke dalam nilai-nilai positif yang berkaitan dengan nilai toleransi dan keadilan sosial. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa LKM Dasar-dasar IPA layak digunakan dengan nilai presentase validasi LKM 1 sebesar 76.79%, LKM 2 sebesar 82.14%, LKM 3 sebesar 92.85%, dan LKM 4 sebesar 76.78%.

Abstract

This study aims to produce instruments that are valid, reliable, and describe the skill to think creatively in environmental pollution material. The trial design of the study used Pre Experimental design with One Shot Case Study model. The subject of this study are 27 students of 7th Grade at SMPN 1 Sidoarjo. The research instrument on this study used students' sheet, questionare sheet, and test. This study used validity and reliablity teachniques. The reseach data were analyzed by descriptive quantitative and qualititative. The result of the research through theoritical validation showed that all questions were accepted and fit in. The results of the validity test of the assessment instrument showed that 6 items with sufficient validity and 6 items with high validity. Meanwhile, the reliability test value obtained at 0.796 in the high category. Based on the results, the category of fluency aspect is quite good with a percentage of 55.2%, the flexibility aspect percentage of 29.3% is not good category and an average overall aspect of 38.8% is in the poor category.This research can be used as an evaluation tool that can design learning to improve creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan hasil implementasi pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran fisika melalui pemrosesan top down berbasis scaffolding untuk melatihkan keterampilan berpikir kritis. Hasil implementasi pengembangan ini dideskripsikan melalui hasil belajar fisika dan keterampilan berpikir kritis yang dicapai siswa kelas XI IPA setelah mengikuti proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan model pengembangan four-D yang meliputi define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Data hasil belajar fisika dan keterampilan berpikir kritis diperoleh melalui metode tes. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh informasi bahwa hasil belajar fisika siswa berdasarkan kategori gain skor secara rata-rata adalah tinggi sedangkan hasil tes keterampilan berpikir kritis menunjukkan bahwa hanya 3% siswa berada pada kategori terampil sedangkan rata-rata kelas menunjukkan berada pada kategori antara tidak terampil sampai agak terampil. Korelasi hasil belajar dengan keterampilan berpikir kritis cukup kuat dimana 22,37% keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa dipengaruhi oleh hasil belajar.Kata kunci: Pemrosesan top down, scaffolding, hasil belajar fisika, keterampilan berpikir kritis

Abstract

Research aims to determine the profile of  Toulmin’s Scientific Argument on students' and Technological Utilities  In Global Warning Topic. This research is a quantitative descriptive study using the observation method. Data is collected through observation, validation, tests, and questionnaires for student responses. The analysis of students' argumentation skills was carried out by observing the learning process and giving a written test conducted in students of senior high school. According to Toulmin, the assessment of students' argumentation skills refers to the measurement of argumentation skills, which includes components of claim, data, warrant, rebuttal, and backing. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the Toulmin’s Scientific Arguments students and Technological Utilities are still relatively low, Toulmin Scientific Arguments students skills are at level 2, dominated by the most claims originating from scientific data/concepts and experience as well as personal observations of the environment and the use of technology in learning is still not optimal to improve Toulmin’s Scientific Arguments Students. Hence, it is necessary to provide innovative learning that can optimally improve Toulmin’s Scientific Arguments.

Abstract

The community service activity is intended to improve the ability of high school science teachers in Magetan districts to compile scientific papers. The number of teachers involved in this activity was 25 people consisting of chemistry, physics and biology teachers. The activity was conducted at SMAN 1 Magetan, on Saturday, July 27, 2019. The approach used in the community service activity was a participatory approach, while the method applied in mentoring was the adult learning method (andragogy). The community service activity was begun with the presentation of training materials by the team, followed by mentoring to make scientific papers, and end with reflection and questionnaires. The results of the activity showed that the trainees had the knowledge and skills in developing scientific papers. The trainees showed a positive response to the training activities carried out by the PKM Team. The ability of trainees in compiling scientific papers were quite good with an average score 3.1 (scale 4).

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the perception of Junior High School students on environmental problems of educational input in science learning. The type of this research was quantitative descriptive using survey methods. The number of samples used was 60 students in 8 grade with random sampling. This research used a distributing questionnaires as a data collection technique. The results of this research were the aspects of the state of the facilities and infrastructure in schools was classified as very high, in the aspect of learning facilities at home, the implementation of discipline in schools, student relationships with other school members was classified as high, while there were environmental problems of educational input that affect students in aspects parental education, relationships between family members, home atmosphere, and the learning process in schools was relatively low, resulting in learning difficulties and unsatisfactory results in science lessons.
