Abstract

Keterampilan proses sains merupakan kompetensi penting bagi calon guru sekolah dasar karena menjadi fondasi penyelidikan ilmiah dan pembelajaran sains yang efektif. Namun, berbagai temuan empiris menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi ini masih belum berkembang secara optimal pada mahasiswa Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar (PGSD). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis profil awal keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa PGSD pada mata kuliah Konsep Dasar IPA. Penelitian menggunakan desain deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan diagnostik. Subyek penelitian adalah mahasiswa PGSD STKIP Taman Siswa Bima tahun pertama yang dipilih melalui teknik sampling total. Data dikumpulkan pada awal semester menggunakan tes diagnostik yang mencakup keterampilan dasar dan terintegrasi, meliputi perencanaan eksperimen, pengamatan dan interpretasi hasil observasi, perumusan pertanyaan ilmiah, penggunaan alat dan pengukuran, serta komunikasi dan interpretasi data. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan statistik deskriptif dalam bentuk persentase berdasarkan kriteria penilaian yang ditetapkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa berada pada kategori rendah dan sangat rendah, dengan hanya sebagian kecil yang mencapai kategori sedang. Seluruh indikator yang diukur juga menunjukkan tingkat penguasaan yang rendah, baik pada keterampilan dasar maupun terintegrasi. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa kesiapan awal mahasiswa untuk terlibat dalam praktik ilmiah masih terbatas. Oleh karena itu, penilaian diagnostik pada tahap awal pembelajaran menjadi penting sebagai dasar perancangan strategi pembelajaran sains yang berorientasi pada inkuiri dan pengembangan keterampilan proses secara sistematis dalam pendidikan guru.

Abstract

The persistent difficulty students face in understanding the human respiratory system—a core yet abstract topic in science education—is rooted in the lack of contextual, visual, and interactive learning media, as highlighted by both national and international research. This study aimed to examine whether technology-based, visual respiratory system media can significantly enhance elementary students’ cognitive learning outcomes, particularly in higher-order thinking skills such as analysis and evaluation. Employing a quantitative, quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, the study involved 34 fifth-grade students at SDN Inpres Rasa 1, Kabupaten Bima, using purposive sampling. A 20-item multiple-choice test based on the revised Bloom’s taxonomy (C1–C4) was used to measure learning outcomes before and after intervention. Descriptive statistics showed a marked improvement: the mean pretest score was 62.8, rising to 73.3 in the posttest, with gains observed across all ability levels. Inferential analysis using a paired sample t-test confirmed the significance of this improvement (t = -15.2, df = 33, p < .001), demonstrating that interactive visual media have a strong positive effect on students’ conceptual understanding of the respiratory system. The results conclude that technology-based visual media not only promote retention and comprehension but also foster analytical and evaluative skills, aligning with current science education goals. This research provides empirically-tested, practical recommendations for educators and policymakers, supporting the integration of digital media in science curricula and teacher training. Future studies are recommended to expand this approach with control groups, longitudinal designs, and investigations into affective and psychomotor domains, as well as the use of emerging technologies like augmented reality and virtual reality to further enhance science learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the results of a needs analysis and expert validation as an empirical basis for developing an inquiry-based Basic Science Concepts module integrated with scientific literacy to improve the science process skills (SPS) of prospective elementary school teachers. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, focusing on the needs analysis and initial product validation stages. Needs analysis data were collected from students and lecturers of the Basic Science Concepts course using a Likert-scale questionnaire, while the module was validated by three groups of experts, namely subject matter experts, media experts, and instructional experts. Data were analyzed descriptively using percentage scores based on predetermined feasibility criteria. The findings revealed that all five indicators of students' needs were categorized as very high (89.7%–94.1%), and all lecturers (100%) confirmed the urgency of developing the module as a teaching resource to support inquiry-based learning integrated with scientific literacy. Expert validation indicated that the module was highly valid in terms of content (93.73%), media (93.81%), and instructional aspects (94.58%), with an overall average validity score of 94.04%. In addition to demonstrating a high level of feasibility, the expert validation also provided constructive suggestions for improving the module's content, design, and presentation, all of which were addressed through minor revisions. These findings indicate that the module was developed based on empirically identified needs and has met the required standards of content, media, and instructional validity. Therefore, it is considered suitable for proceeding to a limited field trial to evaluate its practicality and effectiveness in enhancing the science process skills of prospective elementary school teachers.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis tingkat penguasaan keterampilan dasar mengajar mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar (PGSD) pada mata kuliah Micro Teaching, mengidentifikasi indikator dengan capaian tertinggi dan terendah, serta merumuskan implikasinya terhadap perbaikan perkuliahan. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan subjek 35 mahasiswa PGSD kelas VI A. Data dikumpulkan melalui lembar observasi yang memuat 13 indikator keterampilan dasar mengajar dan dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif berupa rata-rata, standar deviasi, persentase capaian, serta analisis reliabilitas instrumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata skor kemampuan mengajar mahasiswa mencapai 47,69 dari skor ideal 52 atau sebesar 91,70%, sehingga seluruh mahasiswa berada pada kategori sangat baik. Indikator dengan capaian tertinggi adalah Perencanaan Modul Ajar/RPP (100%), sedangkan capaian terendah terdapat pada Evaluasi Pembelajaran (75%). Reliabilitas instrumen tergolong rendah (α = 0,538), yang mengindikasikan perlunya penyempurnaan instrumen penilaian agar lebih mampu membedakan variasi kemampuan mahasiswa. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa meskipun kemampuan mengajar mahasiswa secara umum telah berkembang dengan baik, penguatan perlu difokuskan pada keterampilan menutup dan mengevaluasi pembelajaran serta perbaikan sistem penilaian pada mata kuliah Micro Teaching.
