Abstract

The microscope is a key tool in biology laboratories and supports various learning activities. The Community Service Activity (PKM) was conducted to enhance the knowledge, insight, and skills of biology teachers in using and maintaining microscopes. The event took place on October 29, 2023, at the Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Makassar State University, and involved 13 high school biology teachers from South Sulawesi province. The training consisted of three stages: material delivery, practical training, and evaluation of the participants' performance. The observations during the PKM revealed that the training materials and activities effectively improved the skills of the biology teachers in using and maintaining microscopes. The biology teachers responded positively to the training activities, and the PKM activities ran smoothly, achieving the expected goals.

Abstract

This article will describe the forms of politeness strategies in utterances or quotations in the novel and identify the most frequently used strategies in Alnira's novel "Dunia Nadhira" using Brown and Levinson's pragmatics. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using content analysis techniques. The data sources in this study are utterances or quotations contained in the novel published in 2018. Data collection techniques used include documentation techniques, namely listening, reading, and note-taking. The results show that four politeness strategies found by Brown and Levinson in utterances or quotations in the novel: positive politeness strategies, negative politeness strategies, direct strategies, indirect strategies, with the most dominant strategy found being positive politeness strategies. It can be concluded that in this study, politeness is not only found in everyday life but is also applied in literary works, novels, and to understand each context of speech, to whom, when, and where the speaker is communicating.Keywords: language; politeness; novel; pragmatics; strategy Abstrak Artikel ini akan mendeskripsikan bentuk strategi kesantunan berbahasa pada tuturan atau kutipan dalam novel dan mengidentifikasi strategi yang paling sering digunakan dalam novel “Dunia Nadhira” karya Alnira dengan menggunakan kajian pragmatik Brown dan Levinson. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif  dengan teknik analisis isi. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah tuturan atau kutipan yang terdapat dalam novel yang diterbitkan pada tahun 2018. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan meliputi teknik dokumentasi yaitu simak, baca, dan catat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ditemukan empat strategi kesantunan Brown dan Levinson yang terdapat pada tuturan atau kutipan dalam novel, yaitu strategi kesantunan positif, strategi kesantunan negatif, strategi langsung, strategi tidak langsung, dan strategi yang paling dominan yang ditemukan adalah strategi kesantunan positif. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa dalam penelitian ini kesantunan berbahasa tidak hanya terdapat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, tetapi juga diterapkan dalam karya sastra novel dan untuk memahami setiap konteks tuturan kepada siapa, kapan, di mana penutur berkomunikasi.Kata kunci: berbahasa; kesantunan; novel; pragmatik; strategi

Abstract

Attitudes and Sexual Behavior of Female Characters in Ayu Utami's Saman Novel. This study aims to describe the forms of attitudes and sexual behavior of female characters and what factors cause them in the novel, which is used as a source of data analyzed. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method that consists of four analytical techniques: word reduction, categorization, data presentation, and data inference. The source of the research data is the novel Saman by Ayu Utami. The material used in this research is text, sentences, and paragraphs that reveal and describe the sexual attitudes and behaviors of female characters as well as the causative factors in Ayu Utami's novel Saman by using Sigmund's theory of sex. The results of this study indicate that, first, the novel character Saman experiences various types of sexuality, such as hermaphrodite, fanaticism, eroticism, promiscuity, infidelity, and adultery. Second, the factors causing the sexual orientation of the characters in the novel Saman are varied, including sexual dysfunction, social interest, frustration with requests that cannot be achieved, and a lack of brains.

Abstract

The Skul.id platform is a local Learning Management System (LMS) designed to support blended learning through features such as access to learning materials, assignment submission, and online evaluation. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Skul.id-based blended learning with the station rotation model on students’ perceptions, learning activities, and science learning outcomes. A quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design was employed, involving 54 eighth-grade students. The experimental group received blended learning with station rotation, while the control group received blended learning without station rotation. Data were collected using questionnaires, observation sheets, and learning achievement tests. The results showed significant differences between the two groups. The experimental group demonstrated very positive perceptions (96.30%), very high learning activity (100%), and higher learning outcomes with a mean posttest score of 77.78 and an N-gain of 0.56. In contrast, the control group showed positive perceptions (77.78%), active learning activity (92.59%), and lower learning outcomes with a mean posttest score of 65.48 and an N-gain of 0.36. Although both N-gain values were categorized as moderate, the experimental group achieved a substantially higher improvement. Independent sample t-test results confirmed statistically significant differences in perceptions, learning activities, and learning outcomes (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that Skul.id-based blended learning with station rotation is more effective in improving students’ perceptions, learning activities, and science learning outcomes

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap keterampilan kolaborasi peserta didik pada materi sistem pernapasan manusia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen semu (quasi experiment) dan desain nonequivalent control group design. Sampel penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas XI SMA Negeri 5 Makassar yang terbagi ke dalam kelas eksperimen sebanyak 36 orang dan kontrol 37 orang. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji ANACOVA serta uji Quade’s Rank Analysis of Covariance sebagai penguat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan erdapat pengaruh model Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap keterampilan kolaborasi peserta didik pada materi sistem pernapasan manusia yang dibuktikan melalui hasil uji ANACOVA yang menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,00 < 0,05. Peningkatan ini terjadi karena PBL mendorong peserta didik untuk aktif berinteraksi, bekerja sama, serta bertanggung jawab dalam menyelesaikan masalah secara berkelompok.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kreativitas ilmiah siswa melalui penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing pada materi fotosintesis kelas XI SMA. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pra-eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif yang menggunakan desain one group pretest-posttest. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari 34 peserta didik yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan tes esai terbuka untuk mengukur kreativitas ilmiah berdasarkan aspek fluency, flexibility, dan originality. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif, perhitungan N-gain, serta uji inferensial menggunakan uji paired sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata kreativitas ilmiah siswa meningkat dari 32,26 (pretest) menjadi 63,23 (posttest). Nilai rata-rata N-gain sebesar 0,4544 berada pada kategori sedang. Hasil uji paired sample t-test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (p < 0,05) yang menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan antara skor pretest dan posttest. Oleh karena itu, penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing dapat mendukung peningkatan kreativitas ilmiah siswa pada materi fotosintesis dengan tingkat peningkatan berada pada kategori sedang.

Abstract

This community service program is motivated by the still-limited competence of teachers in designing innovative, student-centered instruction, particularly in plant classification. Plant classification instruction often remains focused on memorizing concepts and does not provide sufficient opportunities for students to develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving, and scientific inquiry. Therefore, this initiative aims to enhance teachers’ professional and pedagogical competencies through mentoring in designing instruction based on Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The activity was conducted in collaboration with the General and Diniyah Subject Teachers’ Group at Al-Bayyinah Junior High School, Al-Kindi Mas Akbar Foundation, Makassar, through the stages of planning, implementation, mentoring, and evaluation. The methods used included presentations, group discussions, and learning workshops. The results of the activity demonstrated the teachers’ understanding of innovative PBL- and PjBL-based learning. Additionally, participants provided positive feedback on the program's content and activities during implementation. This program is expected to inspire teachers to develop contextual, implementable, and student-centered learning materials on plant classification using PjBL and PBL approaches.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru biologi melalui pelatihan pembelajaran berbasis deep learning. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi guru adalah masih dominannya pembelajaran konvensional dan rendahnya pemahaman guru dalam menerapkan pembelajaran yang mindful, meaningful, dan joyful. Kegiatan dilaksanakan menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR) dengan melibatkan 20 guru di Yayasan Al-Kindi Mas Akbar Makassar. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi observasi kebutuhan, sosialisasi konsep deep learning, workshop penyusunan perangkat pembelajaran, praktik penyusunan LKPD, pendampingan, dan evaluasi melalui pre-test, post-test, observasi, serta angket respon peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan mampu meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam merancang pembelajaran berbasis deep learning. Persentase kompetensi guru pada aspek joyful mencapai 90%, penyusunan tujuan pembelajaran 88%, meaningful 85%, dan mindful 82%. Selain itu, guru berhasil mengembangkan LKPD identifikasi tumbuhan invasif dan wild edible berbasis observasi lapangan yang mendukung keterampilan proses sains, berpikir kritis, dan pembelajaran kontekstual. Dengan demikian, pelatihan berbasis deep learning efektif meningkatkan kompetensi pedagogik guru biologi dalam menciptakan pembelajaran yang lebih aktif, reflektif, dan bermakna.  Kata kunci: deep learning, kompetensi guru, pembelajaran biologi, LKPD, pengabdian masyarakat

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis interpretasi musikal dan koreografi Selfi Yamma dalam membawakan lagu “Pelukan Nyata” dari perspektif pendidikan seni, dengan fokus pada keterkaitan antara makna lirik, pengolahan vokal, dan perwujudan gerak di panggung. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik analisis dokumen dan observasi rekaman pertunjukan, sehingga setiap keputusan artistik ditelusuri berdasarkan struktur musik dan teks. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa interpretasi musikal Selfi Yamma sangat bertumpu pada makna emosional lirik tentang kehilangan dan kerinduan, yang tampak dalam pengelolaan tempo, dinamika, warna vokal, frasering, dan pemanfaatan jeda untuk membangun suasana intim. Pada saat yang sama, koreografi yang diwujudkan melalui unsur wirama, wiraga, dan wirasa senantiasa mengikuti narasi emosional lagu: gerak minimal dan tertahan pada bagian yang melukiskan kesendirian, gestur mengarah ke atas dan ke kejauhan saat lirik berbicara tentang harapan yang tak tergapai, serta gerak memeluk diri dan keterbukaan tubuh pada bagian klimaks kerinduan. Keterpaduan antara interpretasi musikal dan koreografi tersebut menunjukkan bagaimana teks lagu diterjemahkan menjadi pengalaman estetik yang utuh, sehingga penampilan tidak sekadar menjadi sajian hiburan, tetapi juga media ekspresi dan komunikasi makna. Dalam perspektif pendidikan seni, temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya pembelajaran interpretasi yang mengintegrasikan pemahaman lirik, teknik vokal, dan koreografi sebagai satu kesatuan, agar peserta didik tidak hanya terampil secara teknis, tetapi juga peka secara artistik dan emosional dalam menafsirkan karya musik.

Abstract

Arts and Culture education in Indonesian senior high schools continues to face a persistent challenge: the integration of character values into learning experiences that are authentic, affective, and aligned with adolescents' aesthetic worlds. Many teaching materials remain repetitive across school levels and tend to emphasize technical and theoretical knowledge rather than students' lived experiences, emotional development, and moral formation. In response to this issue, this study examines D'Masiv's popular song "Jangan Menyerah" as a potential foundation for character education and for the conceptual development of integrated teaching materials in music, dance, and theatre. This research employed a descriptive qualitative design using document analysis. The primary data consisted of the song lyrics, official audio recording, and official music video, while the secondary data included Merdeka Curriculum documents, the Pancasila Student Profile, and relevant scholarly literature on character education, popular music, and arts pedagogy. Data were analyzed through repeated reading and viewing, meaning-unit coding, thematic categorization, and source triangulation across verbal, musical, and visual-narrative data. The findings identify six major character values embedded in the song: perseverance and independence, optimism and hope, religiosity and spirituality, emotional resilience, social concern and empathy, and responsibility and courage. These values are reinforced by the song's reflective minor tonality, moderate tempo, dynamic contrast, coherent popular-song structure, and expressive vocal texture. The study further demonstrates that these values correspond closely to the Pancasila Student Profile and to the developmental needs of senior high school students. The analysis is then translated into conceptual teaching-material designs for music appreciation and singing practice, dance movement exploration and creative choreography, theatre character analysis and scriptwriting/acting, and an integrated musical-theatre performance project. The study contributes theoretically to character-based arts education and practically to the development of contextual, project-based, and adolescent-relevant Arts and Culture learning materials.
