Abstract

Aceh Singkil District is an agricultural area whose the economic activities are dominatated by the farm. There are indications that the economic linkages between rural and urban area have not fully supported the oil-palm farm activities. It resulted the regional development process did not run optimally, so that, it has not made a significant contribution to the public’s welfare. This study aims to identify the economical linkage between the rural and urban areas in Aceh Singkil District. This study used a qualitative approach with the data collection methods through interviews that were descriptively analyzed. The economical linkage can be seen from the capital flow, the shopping flow, the raw material flow, the intermediate goods flow, and the income flow. Based on the linkages between urban and rural areas, it is related to the condition of regional development in Aceh Singkil District. The results showed that the economical linkage were well-established is the shopping flow, while the capital flow was less bind up with villages in the urban area. There were also the raw material flow, the intermediate goods flow, and the income flow that were not absolutely interrelated. The intermediate good flow was binding up with the outside region, so that the acquisition of added value entered other areas. The implication from the conditional linkage of rural and urban areas in the regional development context is that the rural and urban areas are less functionally intertwined. It resulted the high poverty rates in Aceh Singkil District.Keywords: Regional Development, Economical Linkage, Rural-Urban Areas, Oil-PalmKabupaten Aceh Singkil merupakan daerah pertanian yang kegiatan ekonominya didominasi perkebunan. Terdapat indikasi bahwa keterkaitan ekonomi antara perdesaan dan perkotaan belum sepenuhnya mendukung aktivitas perkebunan kelapa sawit. Hal ini mengakibatkan proses pembangunan daerah tidak berjalan dengan optimal sehingga belum memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan terhadap kesejahteraan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi keterkaitan ekonomi antara perdesaan dan perkotaan di Kabupaten Aceh Singkil. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data melalui wawancara yang dianalisis secara deskriptif. Keterkaitan ekonomi ditinjau dari aliran modal, aliran belanja, aliran bahan baku, aliran barang setengah jadi, dan aliran pendapatan. Berdasarkan keterkaitan antara perdesaan dan perkotaan tersebut lalu kaitkan dengan kondisi pengembangan wilayah di Kabupaten Aceh Singkil. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterkaitan ekonomi yang terjalin dengan baik yakni aliran belanja, sedangkan aliran modal kurang terjalin dengan desa-desa yang berada di perkotaan. Adapun aliran bahan baku, aliran barang setengah jadi dan aliran pendapatan sama sekali tidak terjalin. Bahkan, aliran barang setengah jadi terjalin menuju keluar wilayah sehingga perolehan nilai tambah masuk wilayah lain. Implikasi dari kondisi keterkaitan perdesaan dan perkotaan dalam konteks pengembangan wilayah yakni wilayah perdesaan dengan perkotaan kurang terjalin secara fungsional. Hal ini mengakibatkan tingginya angka kemiskinan di Kabupaten Aceh Singkil.           Kata Kunci: Pengembangan Wilayah, Keterkaitan ekonomi, Perdesaan Perkotaan, Kelapa Sawit

Abstract

Labor, whether within and outside family member, has animportant contribution in the structure of farm costs. Thisstudy aims to analyse the contribution of family labor tovegetable farming with four different cropping patterns inrainfed lowland land and its effect on farming profits. Theresearch was conducted in Pondok Kelapa District, BengkuluTengah Regency from May to October 2019. There are sixvegetable cropping patterns in Pondok Kelapa District,namely (1) cucumber - paria - long beans, (2) cucumber -gambas - long beans, ( 3) cucumber - long beans - longbeans, (4) long beans - pariah - long beans, (5) long beans -luffa - long beans, and (6) long beans - long beans - kalepulled - pulled kale. Data were collected through a census of50 vegetable farmers and analyzed descriptively using thestructure of farm costs and the R/C ratio. The results showedthat the contribution of labor costs from within the family tothe six cropping patterns was between 38.84 - 61.36% withan R/C ratio between 1.55 - 1.94. The highest laborcontribution was obtained in cropping pattern 6, namely61.36% with the lowest R/C ratio value of 1.55. However, ifthe family labor cost is assumed not to be taken into accountthe farm input costs, then the R/C ratio value in croppingpattern 6 is the highest, which is 4.06.

Abstract

Labor productivity is very important to the production process with supporting the human resources factors, because the production activities are influenced by the ability of labor. Productivity serves as a measure of development in developingperformance quality. The objectives of this research are: (1) Calculating productivity level of harvesting workers and (2) Identifying factors affecting labor productivity of palm oil harvesters in PT. Desaria Plantation Mining (PT.DPM). This research was conducted in April-May 2017. The location of this research is done by purposivelly. The respondent collecting in this research was done by census method, where the respondents were 34 respondents, and the data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The result of the research shows that the productivity of the palm oil harvesting worker is high because they exceeds from the standard that is 839,76 janjang/month. The other hand the result of estimation of t test show that age factor and working experiency of palm oil harvest the have real influence to the productivity of palm harvester at PT. Desaria Plantation Mining (PT.DPM).

Abstract

The community service program for the mandatory lecturer scheme in 2021, Universitas Sumatera Utara, is foc Integrasi Agroforestri dan Sistem Budidaya Lebah Madu (Trigona Sp.) dalam Penguatan Food Estate di Humbang Hasundutan.  used at the food estate location, Humbang Hasundutan Regency. The purpose of this community service program is to develop a group of forest communities around the location of the food estate that are economically independent through the skills of honey bee cultivation of Trigona sp. in strengthening food at food estate locations. This program integrates forestry, agricultural, and honey bees Trigona sp. to form an interrelated cultivation system for the sustainability of ecological, economic, and social aspects. This program is carried out in the form of assistance in providing honey bee sires Trigona sp. and training in honey bee cultivation management. This program is expected to be able to have a positive impact on the community of food estate farmer groups as a companion business in managing food estates based on agricultural commodities.

Abstract

Tourism is one of the regional income sectors and can improve the welfare of people's lives. Ecotourism with ecological principles and sustainable development theory will provide benefits by paying attention to the factors that affect it and good management is needed to maintain and continue the development and development of tourism. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of development and institutions in the management of the Simarjarunjung ecotourism area in Dolok Pardamean District, Simalungun Regency. This research is a qualitative descriptive analysis research, where data interpretation and analysis are carried out with data collection steps through documentation techniques as well as interviews and observations, combining relevant information that can answer problems, and drawing conclusions as answers to problems. The results of the feasibility assessment for the development of the potential of the Simarjarunjung Ecotourism Area show a category worthy of development and a feasibility level with an index of 75.74%. The community plays a direct role in ecotourism management for the development of Simarjarunjung ecotourism. The institutional form of ecotourism management is the Association of Farmer Groups (GAPOKTAN) and Tourism Awareness Groups (POKDARWIS). The management of Bukit Indah Simarjarunjung ecotourism is managed privately and the Pine Hills Forest Nature Tourism is managed by the Setya Tani Forest Farmer Group. The strategies carried out in the development of Simarjarunjung ecotourism are planning, implementing, and utilizing. The norms used are internal norms that prioritize local communities and minimize outside participation in the development of Simarjarunjung ecotourism.

Abstract

Timbang Lawan merupakan salah satu desa di Kecamatan Bohorok, Kabupaten Langkat dan menjadi zona penyangga (buffer zone) Taman Nasional Gunung Leuser. Salah satu masalah desa adalah kemunculan harimau sumatera (Panthera tigris sumatrae) yang menyerang ternak warga di pinggiran hutan. Selain mengakibatkan kerugian materi, serangan harimau sumatera berpotensi menimbulkan persepsi negative terhadap satwaliar tersebut. Oleh karena itu kegiatan pengabdian USU ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk membangun harmoni antara penghidupan masyarakat dengan konservasi harimau. Kegiatan terdiri dari lima bagian, yaitu: membangun kandang anti harimau, pemeliharaan rusa untuk restocking pakan harimau, restorasi, pembuatan pakan ternak dan pengembangan ekowisata. Metode yang digunakan adalah transfer pengetahuan dan pelibatan masyarakat melalui praktek langsung lapangan. Masyarakat sangat antusias dan pemerintah desa sangat mendukung kegiatan ini, karena dapat memberi solusi langsung terhadap permasalahan masyarakat desa.Kata kunci: Timbang Lawan, Harimau sumatera, penghidupan, konservasi, konflik

Abstract

Rattan is one of the commodity timber forest products used as raw material for the rattan industry. One of the small businesses that is quite developed in Rumbai District, Pekanbaru City is the rattan handicraft business which is a traditional small industry and is a family business. This study aims to determine the business feasibility and trading system of the rattan handicraft trade. This research was conducted with a quantitative and qualitative descriptive approach. The method used for data collection is a field survey through observations, interviews, and questionnaires on rattan craftsmen and Trade Units (UD). UD Rattan Crafts in Rumbai can be said to be worthy of continuing. This is because the NPV value of the trading business in Rumbai is > 0, IRR > from interest rates, and BCR > 1. Analysis of the trading system shows that there are trading system functions that are used, namely the exchange function, physical function, and facility function.

Abstract

Indonesia has the largest mangrove forests in the world. However, Indonesia is also listed as the largest contributor to loss of the world's mangrove forests. Good mangroves will support the lives of coastal communities and vice versa. Mangrove forests in the area of Kampung Nelayan Seberang, Medan Belawan and its surroundings were also degraded. Therefore, degraded mangrove forests need to be restored through mangrove restoration activities with the involvement of the surrounding community. This community service activity through the Assisted Village Program will carry out mangrove restoration activities with the people of Kampung Nelayan Seberang. The success of restoration activities is determined by good understanding of the mangrove ecosystem and the commitment of the community to be involved in restoring it. The objective of this study was to identify understanding related to mangrove ecosystems and community perceptions of its restoration efforts. Collecting data was carried out by interviewing respondents who represented the population. Descriptive analysis is used to describe the socio-economic conditions, understanding and perceptions of the community regarding ecosystems and mangrove restoration. Generally, respondents understand the role of mangrove forests and agree that mangrove restoration must be done together. Amount of 53 - 83% of respondents agreed and understood that mangrove restoration is important for life and has an impact on income, social and cultural life. The results showed that 60 - 90% of respondents around the restoration area need a rehabilitation program and are willing to be involved in a mangrove restoration program with the parties.

Abstract

The mangrove ecosystem provides many benefits for the environment and ecosystem services. Mangrove economically can be utilized to become any miscellaneous food and drink. One of the potential mangrove areas is Kampung Nipah, Sei Nagalawan Village, Perbaungan District, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra. This study aims to identify the technical aspect of product processing and to analyze the financial feasibility and the added value distribution of mangrove processed products. Data collection used the sensus method and the open interview method with the leader and members of Kelompok Tani MuaraTanjung and data analyzed using the quantitative descriptive method. The result shows that the processing product is still manual and done cooperatively. The products obtained are Jeruju chips, Pedada syrup, and Dodol Api-Api. The business of mangrove processed products produces profit and worth by financial with a Revenue Cost Ratio (R/C) value of 1.6, 1.2, and 1.2, respectively. The Payback Period is 2, 5, and 4, respectively. Break Even Point (BEP) is 15, 13, and 14, respectively. And the BEP Analysis in Rupiah is Rp 5.045, Rp 10.098, and Rp 8.001. All the results show a profit. The added value for each product is Rp 52.871/kg, Rp 20.725/kg, and Rp 31.318/kg.

Abstract

This study was conducted to look at the types and spatial distribution of non-timber forest products (NTFPs). Data on NTFPs species, distribution, and parts used was obtained through species identification. Meanwhile, NTFP mapping activities use GIS. The results showed that there were 8 types of NTFPs used by the villagers, namely Arenga pinnata, Hevea brasiliensis, Durio zibethinus, Areca catechu, Theobroma cacao, Parkia speciosa, Lansium parasiticum, and Archidendron pauciflorum. They use it for daily consumption and sell it to collectors in the form of fresh fruit, palm sugar, leaves, roots, seeds, and sap. Non-timber forest products are scattered in clusters and unevenly in the village area.
