Abstract

Students are one group of individuals who are in adolescent development. Adolescence is the stage of human development between childhood and adulthood. Growth and development are also felt in adolescence, including cognitive, personality, social, and physical development. Adolescence is the next generation of the nation's struggle and has a vital role in the nation's survival. Thus, various skills are needed in adolescents to face the development and challenges that lie ahead. One of the things that can be done is to provide debriefing related to essential life skills. Debriefing is done through training activities to increase students' knowledge of essential life skills. The participants of this activity were 27 students of SMAN 2 Padang Panjang. Training activities are packaged through applicative, interactive, and simple games that illustrate essential life skills—measurement of knowledge in students using an open-ended questionnaire that refers to essential life skills. After receiving training, we observed an increase in grades/scores in students, which was measured through a pre- and post-training assessment of their understanding and application of the essential life skills.

Abstract

The role of caregivers in providing care to individuals with special needs, such as the elderly or patients with chronic conditions, is often accompanied by complex psychological challenges. To support caregiver well-being, measuring mutuality and family resilience is important as an indicator of emotional relationships and family adaptability. This study aims to design a web-based application to measure mutuality and family resilience using a user-centered design (UCD) approach, which focuses on user needs and experiences. The research method includes four main stages: (1) needs analysis through interviews with caregivers and psychologists to understand measurement needs, (2) designing an application prototype with UCD principles, (3) evaluating the design using the usability testing method, and (4) initial testing of the reliability and validity of the psychological measurements applied in the application. This platform is equipped with a psychometric-based questionnaire feature, easy-to-understand measurement result reports, and recommendations for further support. The results of the study indicate that this application is effective in providing measurement tools that are easy to use by caregivers. Usability testing resulted in a user satisfaction score of 85%, indicating an intuitive and appropriate interface. In addition, initial testing of the instrument's validity showed good consistency in measuring mutuality and family resilience. In conclusion, this application can be a useful tool in supporting caregiver well-being, with the potential for wider application in family or community contexts. Further research is needed to develop additional features and increase the scale of implementation.

Abstract

Student behavior problems such as truancy, neglect of assignments, and lack of activity in the learning process indicate low student involvement. One thing that can play an important role in increasing student engagement is creating optimism among students. This research aims to determine the relationship between optimism and student engagement among students at SMAN X Padang City. The research method used in this research is a quantitative method using the Pearson Product Moment analysis method. The respondents in this study were 281 students of SMAN X Padang City who were obtained using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using an adaptation of the "School Engagement" and "Life Orientation Test-Revised" (LOT-R) measuring tools. The results of this study show that there is a significant positive relationship between optimism and student engagement (p = <.05; r = .257). This shows that, the higher the optimism among students, the higher the student engagement among SMAN X students in Padang City and vice versa.

Abstract

Tantrums are outbursts of anger and they can occur at any age. An attitude tantrum or what is commonly referred to as a temper tantrum is a child's outburst of anger that often occurs when a child shows negative behavior. Emotional outbursts of tantrums that occur in children with autism are not only to seek the attention of adults, but also as an outlet for a child's feelings for parents and those around him on a whim or feeling he is feeling, but the child cannot convey it. For this reason, researchers propose a system for detecting early symptoms of tantrums in children with autism through facial expressions with CNN. The CNN method is one of the deep learning methods that can be used to recognize and classify an object in a digital image. Then the preprocessing process is carried out using labeling on the data. Then the CNN architecture is designed with input containing 48x48x1 neurons. The data was then trained using 357 epochs with an accuracy rate of 72.67%%. Then tested using test data for children with autism to get an average accuracy value of 72.67%%.

Abstract

The use of the TikTok is currently dominated by adolescents. Adolescents attempt to look as attractive as possible in TikTok without even considering the negative consequences of their actions. Self-control of adolescents can minimize the negative impacts of using TikTok. Self-control in using TikTok among adolescents can be obtained from guidelines in the form of values, one of which is the value of religion or religiosity. This study aimed to examine the relationship between religiosity and self-control in using TikTok among adolescents. The method used in this study was quantitative with 150 subjects aged 11-17 years who uploaded videos on TikTok. The instruments were the Self-Control in Using TikTok Scale and the Centrality of Religiosity Scale (CRS-15). The Spearman's Rank correlation test results showed that there was a positive relationship between religiosity and self-control in using TikTok for adolescents (r=0.162; p=0.048). The results indicated that higher religiosity is associated with higher self-control in using TikTok among adolescents, and the lower the religiosity, the lower the self-control in the use of TikTok in adolescents. In addition, most adolescents in the study were reported to have a high level of religiosity whereas moderate level of self-control in the use of Tiktok.

Abstract

In a competitive workplace, companies are not only required to increase employee productivity but also to ensure their well-being. High-Performance Work Systems (HPWS) have long been used to improve organizational efficiency and performance. However, their implementation is often associated with excessive work pressure, which can negatively impact employee mentality. The urgency of this research stems from the need to develop an integrated HPWS focused on employee well-being, namely the High Well-Being Performance Work Systems (HWBPWS) model. However, existing studies and measurement tools have been developed primarily in Western contexts, raising cultural and contextual concerns for their application in Southeast Asia. This study aims to adapt and validate the HWBPWS scale for the Indonesian workforce. This adaptation followed the International Testing Commission (ITC) guidelines, including translation, expert review, and readability testing. The measurement model was tested using PLS-SEM with the assistance of SmartPLS 4 software. Evaluation of the measurement model included testing convergent validity, internal reliability, and discriminant validity. Data were collected from 123 employees across various industries and analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis. The CFA analysis showed that all items in the final construct had outer loading values above 0.70. In addition, the Cronbach's Alpha and Composite Reliability values for all constructs were above 0.70, and the AVE value exceeded 0.50. Thus, the HWBPWS construct was declared valid and reliable. The results showed that the Indonesian version of the HWBPWS retained 40 fit items across 10 dimensions, with three dimensions removed due to low reliability. All constructs achieved acceptable validity and reliability. These findings provide an evidence-based tool for assessing HR practices that simultaneously improve employee performance and well-being, with important implications for HR management research and practice in Indonesia.
