Abstract

Tanah merupakan salah satu faktor penting dalam produksi pertanian, karena tanah merupakan media tanam yang umum digunakan. konversi lahan hutan menjadi lahan pertanian oleh masyarakat disekitar hutan ataupun kawasan lindung masih terus berlangsung hingga sekarang ini.  Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret - Mei 2013. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Variabilitas Sifat Fisika Tanah. Teknik pengambilan sampel tanah menggunakan metode purposive sampling, pengambilan sampel tanah utuh dengan menggunakan ring pada kedalaman kurang lebih 20 cm dari lapisan tanah bagian atas. Pada lahan hutan dilakukan pengambilan sampel tanah di tiga titik yang berbeda yang disesuaikan dengan kelerengan, sedangkan pada lahan kakao (Theobroma cacao L.) pengambilan sampel tanah dilakukan pada tiga tempat yang diulang sebanyak tiga kali. Masing-masing pengambilan sampel memiliki perbedaan tempat dan kelerengan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yaitu Pada lahan kakao dengan lereng 21-30 % dan ≤18 % bertekstur lempung berdebu, sedangkan pada lahan kakao dengan lereng 18-20 % bertekstur lempung berliat. Pada lahan hutan dengan lereng  ≥30 %, 18-30 %, dan ≤18 % bertekstur lempung berpasir.Pada lahan kakao dengan lereng ≤18 % memiliki bulk density tertinggi dibandingkan dengan lahan hutan. Pada lahan kakao dengan lereng 21-30 % dan ≤18 % porositasnya tergolong kurang baik, sedangkan pada lereng 18-20 % porositasnya tergolong baik. Pada lahan hutan lereng ≥30 %, 18-30 % dan  ≤18 % porositasnya tergolong baik.Pada lahan hutan dengan lereng ≥30 % memiliki C organik yang tinggi. Pada lahan kakao dengan lereng 18-20 % memiliki kondisi air jenuh tinggi.Pada lahan hutan dengan lereng ≥30 %, 18-30 %, dan ≤18 % memiliki permeabilitas yang sedang dan yang terdapat pada lahan kakao dengan lereng 21-30 % memiliki permeabilitas agak lambat.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the changes in physical and chemical characteristics of Lembah Palu Entisols added with gypsum. The research used a completely randomized design with four treatments and six replicates thus there were 24 experimental units.  Four gypsum rates were applied including no gypsum added, gypsum added at 10 t ha-1, 20 t ha-1, and 30 t ha-1.  The effect of gypsum was analysed using the Analysis of Variance and the differences between treatments were determined using Least Significant Difference test.  Experimental variable observed were saturated water content,field capacity water content, bulk density, soil porosity, plasticity index, electrical conductivity, and cation exchangeable capacity (CEC), Ca-exch content.  The addition of gypsum significantly affected all soil variables observed except soil porosity and CEC.

Abstract

This research aimed  to determine the effect of adding cow manure bokashi on some physical characteristics of Entisols of Lembah Palu. The research conducted from March to December 2015 at Soil Science Laboratory of Agriculture Faculty of Tadulako University. Soil sample was taken from Sidera village, Sigi Biromaru sub district of Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi province.  The research used a randomize block design with the cow manure bokashi as treatment. The cow manure bokashi was added at various rates i.e. 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%. Data was analyzed using Analysis of Variance to determine the cow manure effect and Least Significance Ddifferent Test to determine the differences between the treatments. The 15% cow manure bokashi treatment resulted in lowest bulk density (1,28 g cm-3), plasticity index (36,43) and liquid limit (54,17). The same treatment also produced largest porosity (50,75%), field capacity (33,22%) and saturated water (56,38%) contents

Abstract

Erosion is one of the factors that causing the decline in soil capacity to support good agriculture production. This often happened in some land use when the land is managed without pay attention to soil conservation and or the soil capacity to support production. Soil erosion prediction can be good information for local government and soil erosion index of several land use types including non-agriculture can be used to manage sustainability of development. The purpose of this study was to predict the soil erosion rate and determine soil erosion erosion index on several land use types at the Labuan Toposo village Donggala District. The soil was analyzed at soil science laboratory of Tadulako University. The study was conducted from October to January 2016. This study was used the method direct survey in the field and continued with the soil sampling for laboratory analysis. Then the analysis result was further processed by using the equation USLE (Universal Soil Loss Equation ). This study showed that the erosion index that occurredat the village of Labuan Toposo was diverse while the erosion hazard index was lowest for forest land, and the highest was found for teak and coconut. This was caused by land use patterns, land management measures, in addition the high erosion hazard index indicate the potential to cause erosion. It is therefore vital to do conservation measures to prevent erosion e.g. by inter cropping and the use of crop residue on land surface such as mulching.Key Words : Erosion Prediction, Land Use and Village Labuan Toposo.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the response of the growth of the rice plant (Oryza sativa) local cultivars at different levels of soil moisture. This study uses a randomized complete block design consisting of (1) Cultivars Rice locally as the first factor consisting of (K1) = rice cultivars Ranta, (K2) = rice cultivars njengi and (K3) = rice cultivars Sampara, (2) the level of moisture soil as a second factor consisting of (T1) = The level of moisture the ground 100% (field capacity),              (T2) = level of moisture the soil 75%, (T3) = Level moisture soil 50% and (T4) = rate of moisture land 25% , The results showed that the cultivars njengi generating plant height and stem diameter is greater than the other cultivars. Ranta cultivars showed the number of leaves, number of tillers and leaf area were higher than the other cultivars. Soil moisture level of 100% (field capacity) also results in plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, leaf greenness (chlorophyll) and a trunk diameter greater than with other soil moisture levels. Key Words : local cultivars, rice, soil moisture.

Abstract

This study aims to predict the magnitude of soil erosion rate and erosion hazard index at Kawatuna watershed in Central Sulawesi. The research will contribute information to the government in relation to land-use policies and soil conservation measures. Slope grade map, soil map and land use mapwere overlaid with ArcGIS 10.0, resulted to eleven units of land use include forest land, shrubs, paddy fields mixed farms and settlements. Erosion was occurred at all units of land use except in residential type. The field survey was conducted at seven units of land use to observe the slope length, slope, vegetation dominant, and check those units whether still have potential to practise long-term farming management. Soil sampling is done randomly on each unit of land, three samples were taken from each unit namely disturbed and un-disturbed sampling Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) was used to predict the soil erosion rate. The results showed the erosion that occurs at the watershed Kawatuna is classified at low to moderate level. Low erosion occurs at wetland and forest and the moderate happens at mixed garden, shrub land, and fields. The dominant factor that caused erosion in this region is ground erovisity, followed by crop management and conservation measures.Key Words: Erosion Prediction, Kawatuna Watershed, land use, USLE.

Abstract

This study aims to determine some physical properties Inceptisols Watutela in relation to organic matter and heating temperature. The research method is through laboratory experiments using completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of two factors. The first factor is the treatment of soil organic matter derived from goat droppings and the second factor is the heating temperature treatment. Each treatment consists of three levels and repeated 6 times to obtain         54 experimental units. Treatments organic matter goat manure include: without organic matter or Control (A0), organic matter with a level of 2.5% by weight of the ground (A1), and organic matter to the level of 5% of the weight of the soil used in the research (A2). Level-the level used in the heating temperature treatment includes heating at room temperature (P0), heating in an oven at a temperature of 50°C (P1) and heating it in an oven at 70°C (P2). Data processing studies to determine the effect of treatment among study done using ANOVA F test, subsequent treatment effect was tested further by honestly significant difference test (HSD). The research variables were observed consisting of: saturated soil water content, water content of field capacity, soil bulk density, soil porosity and soil aggregate stability. The results showed that the characteristics of Inceptisols Watutela the initial soil analysis showed a sandy loam texture, organic C content of 0.89% (relatively low). Based on observations showed that organic matter goat droppings and the heating temperature individually provide highly significant effect on all variables observed physical properties of soil. The interaction between organic material and the heating temperature very significant effect on saturated soil water content and soil porosity. Abstract

This study aims to investigate the response of the sorghum growth to the level of humidity and dosage of different cow manure. This study was conducted using a randomized block design (RBD) consisted of two factors and three replications. The first factor is the provision of water consists 25% of field capacity, 50% of field capacity, 75% and 100% of field capacity. The second factor is without cow manure and cow manure 40 ton/ ha and 60 ton/ha. It obtained 4x3 = 12 treatments repeated 3 times terefore there is a 12 x 3 = 36 experiments. Variables include observation of plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf greenness, leaf area, plant fresh weight and dry weight of plants. The results showed that there was no interaction between the water content and cow manure on the growth of sorghum. Cow manure had no effect on all components of sorghum growth whereas the water content treatment very significant effect on the growth of sorghum, plant fresh weight and dry weight of plants. Keywords: Cow manure, growth, sorghum, water content.

Abstract

The research aimed at determining the vegetative growth of sorghum (Sorghum bicolorL.) grown under various rate of gamal leaf bokashi and soil water content.  The research was arranged using a two-factorial completely randomized design in which each experimental unit had three replicates.  Three different rates of the gamal leaf bokashi were applied i.e. with no bokashi added(b0), 20 t/ha bokashi(b20), and 40 t/ha bokashi (b40).  Similarly, three different levels of water contents were implemented i.e. water content equal to 100% field capacity (k100), 75% field capacity (k75) and 50% field capacity (k50).  Variable observed were number of leaf, fresh dan dried plant weight, fresh and dried root weigh and soil bulk density. Interaction between the bokashi with the water content significantly affected all variable observed.  In general, the plant growth either under the 75%or 50% field capacity water content were not significantly reduced compared to those growth under the 100% field capacity water content as long as the rate of bokashi was 20 t/ha.  Soil bulk density increased with increased the bokashi rates at various water contents. Keywords: Gamalleaf bokashi, Soil field capacity and Sorghum.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to predict the rate of erosion based on some slope in the village of Molino Petasia Eastern District of North Morowali district. The usefulness of this research can used as a source of information for the government in general and provide information about the amount of erosion potential. The research was conducted in December 2015 and February 2016. This study used directly in the field survey and soil sampling for analysis of materials in laboratorium. Then the results of the analysis processed by using the formula USLE (Universal Soil Loss Equation). The results showed that the rate of erosion that occurred in PT. Agro Nusa Abadi is high, moderate to low. Erosion is highest at an inclination of 3% and 8%, while the erosion rate was at an inclination of  3% on replicates 2 and 3, the slope of 8% on repeat 1 (first) whereas the low level of erosion found on a slope of 1%. Keywords: Erosion Prediction, Palm oil and Slope
