Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kritis merupakan kompetensi esensial dalam pembelajaran matematika, terutama dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita yang menuntut pemahaman kontekstual, analisis mendalam, dan pemecahan masalah. Rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa di Indonesia menunjukkan perlunya inovasi dalam pendekatan pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meninjau secara sistematis efektivitas model pembelajaran Problem-Based Learning (PBL) dalam mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Metode Systematic Literature Review digunakan untuk menganalisis 13 artikel ilmiah yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa Problem-Based Learning (PBL) secara konsisten meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa melalui keterlibatan aktif dalam mengidentifikasi, merumuskan, dan menyelesaikan masalah nyata. Problem-Based Learning (PBL) juga mendorong peningkatan pemahaman konsep, kemampuan koneksi matematis, kepercayaan diri, dan kemandirian belajar. Kesimpulan dari studi ini mengindikasikan bahwa Problem-Based Learning (PBL) merupakan pendekatan yang relevan dan efektif dalam pembelajaran matematika abad ke-21, serta layak untuk diimplementasikan secara lebih luas dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan instrumen tes yang layak digunakan untuk mengukur kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas VIII SMP pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar. Kemampuan komunikasi matematis mencakup keterampilan siswa dalam menyampaikan ide, menjelaskan proses pemecahan masalah, serta menggunakan bahasa dan simbol matematika secara tepat. Instrumen dikembangkan melalui tahapan analisis kebutuhan, penyusunan kisi-kisi dan soal, validasi oleh ahli, serta uji coba terhadap 30 siswa SMP. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa instrumen yang dikembangkan sesuai dengan indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan disusun secara sistematis. Uji coba empiris menunjukkan bahwa setiap butir soal memiliki korelasi yang tinggi dengan total skor, sementara nilai reliabilitas menunjukkan tingkat konsistensi internal yang kuat. Selain itu, soal memiliki tingkat kesukaran sedang hingga mudah dan daya pembeda yang baik. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, instrumen dinyatakan layak digunakan sebagai alat evaluasi untuk mengukur kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa SMP. Instrumen ini juga dapat menjadi referensi bagi guru dalam mendesain pembelajaran yang mendukung pengembangan keterampilan komunikasi matematis.

Abstract

Mathematics learning plays an important role in developing students' critical, logical and systematic thinking abilities. However, the abstract nature of mathematics often causes misconceptions, especially regarding the concept of exponent numbers. This research aims to identify misconceptions of fifth grade elementary school students in understanding numbers with powers and the factors that cause them. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods, this research involves 30 students as participants, with a focus on in-depth analysis of three students. Data was obtained through observation, tests and semi-structured interviews. The research results show that students often misunderstand the basic concept of exponent numbers, such as considering exponents as ordinary additions or misunderstanding powers of zero and powers of one. Factors causing misconceptions include limited student understanding, less contextual teaching methods, and cultural and linguistic influences. To overcome this misconception, a more effective teaching approach is needed, such as the use of concrete visualizations (for example, squares for cubes and cubes for cubes) and the application of interactive methods that are relevant to everyday life. This research provides recommendations for teachers to improve learning strategies and encourages further research to develop innovative methods in teaching exponent numbers. In this way, students are expected to be able to understand mathematical concepts in depth and correctly, which will have an impact on improving their learning outcomes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara sistematis penerapan pembelajaran berbasis STEM yang terintegrasi dengan pendekatan mindful, joyful dan meaningful terhadap kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi (HOTS) dalam pembelajaran matematika. Metode yang digunakan adalah Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Pencarian dilakukan pada database Google Scholar dan Scimago Jr dengan menggunakan kata kunci “Integrasi STEM pada matematika”, “Penerapan STEM pada matematika” dan “STEM in Mathematics Education”. Dari 31 artikel awal, 14 artikel dipilih terindeks berdasarkan kriteria inklusi yang dipublikasikan antara tahun 2020 hingga 2024. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa dari 14 artikel, 11 studi membuktikan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis, kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan kemampuan spasial. Pendekatan STEM yang dirancang dengan integrasi pendekatan mindful, joyful, dan meaningful dapat menjadi strategi yang efektif dalam menciptakan pengalaman belajar matematika yang kontekstual dan menyenangkan.

Abstract

Mathematics anxiety is one of the problems that affects students' learning performance, especially for students with a certain level of self-confidence. To find out, this study aims to analyze the level of mathematics anxiety viewed from students' confidence levels. This research uses a quantitative descriptive approach with a questionnaire as the data collection technique. The research was conducted in class X-4 at SMAN 1 Jawilan with 34 student respondents. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of frequency distribution and level categorization. The research results show that the average level of low mathematics anxiety is possessed by 5 students (14.7%), the average level of moderate mathematics anxiety is possessed by 23 students (64.7%), and the average level of high mathematics anxiety is possessed by 6 students (20.4%). Meanwhile, the results of student self-confidence levels show that the average level of low self-confidence is possessed by 5 students (8.82%), the average level of high self-confidence is possessed by students (82.85%), and the average level of mild/low mathematics anxiety possessed by students is 8.82%. Student self-confidence level has a positive effect on controlling anxiety in class X 4 students of SMAN 1 Jawilan.

Abstract

Mathematics is often perceived as a scourge for elementary school students due to its abstract nature. This study aims to bridge the gap between abstract mathematical concepts and students' real-world experiences by integrating local cultural wisdom through a contextual approach. Specifically, this research examines the effect of a local culture-based contextual approach and learning independence on the understanding of mathematical concepts among fourth-grade students. Using a quasi-experimental method with a 2x2 factorial design, this study involved 40 students at SDN Pagedangan Udik I, Tangerang. Data were analyzed using Two-Way ANOVA. The results showed that: (1) students taught with a local culture-based contextual approach had significantly better conceptual understanding than those taught with conventional methods; (2) learning independence significantly influenced learning outcomes; and (3) there was an interaction between the learning model and learning independence. These findings suggest that bringing local culture into the classroom not only makes mathematics more concrete but also accommodates students with varying levels of learning independence, turning mathematics into a more humanistic and meaningful subject.

Abstract

Mathematical communication skills are fundamental competencies that students must have, but there are no valid and reliable test instruments to measure the mathematical communication skills of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students specifically. This research aims to develop valid, reliable, and practical mathematical communication ability test instruments for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students. The research uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the Plomp model which includes the initial investigation, prototype phase, and assessment phase. The research subjects consisted of 39 students of class V MIN 1 Cilegon City who were selected using the purposive sampling technique. The instrument was developed based on the theoretical framework of NCTM with four mathematical communication indicators in KPK and FPB materials. The developed instrument met psychometric standards with very high construct validity (correlation coefficient r > 0.80 for all question items) and high reliability (α = 0.861). The distribution of difficulty level showed one question item in the medium category (65.40%) and three questions in the very difficult category (15.90%-17.80%). The differentiating power showed that one question item was categorized as sufficient (0.341) while the other three items needed improvement. The instrument was successfully developed with adequate psychometric quality and can be used as an evaluation tool for mathematical communication skills at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Further research is suggested to expand the research sample and develop instruments for other mathematical materials. Kemampuan komunikasi matematika merupakan kompetensi mendasar yang harus dimiliki siswa, namun tidak ada instrumen tes yang valid dan handal yang tersedia untuk secara khusus mengukur kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan instrumen uji kemampuan komunikasi matematika yang valid, handal, dan praktis bagi siswa Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan Research and Development (R&D) dengan model Plomp yang terdiri dari penelitian pendahuluan, fase pembuatan prototipe, dan fase penilaian. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 39 siswa kelas lima MIN 1 Cilegon City yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen ini dikembangkan berdasarkan kerangka teoritis NCTM dengan empat indikator komunikasi matematis pada materi KPK dan GCD. Instrumen yang dikembangkan memenuhi standar psikometri dengan validitas konstruksi yang sangat tinggi (koefisien korelasi r > 0,80 untuk semua item) dan keandalan tinggi (α = 0,861). Distribusi tingkat kesulitan menunjukkan satu item dalam kategori sedang (65,40%) dan tiga item dalam kategori sangat sulit (15,90%-17,80%). Kekuatan diskriminasi menunjukkan satu item dalam kategori yang memadai (0,341) sementara tiga lainnya membutuhkan perbaikan. Instrumen ini berhasil dikembangkan dengan kualitas psikometrik yang memadai dan dapat digunakan sebagai alat evaluasi kemampuan komunikasi matematika di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Penelitian di masa depan disarankan untuk memperluas sampel penelitian dan mengembangkan instrumen untuk materi matematika lainnya.
