Abstract

This research delves into the impact of project-based learning approaches on improving English language proficiency among students. Focusing on relevant literature, the study delineates the role of practical projects in enhancing communication skills, motivation, and student engagement. The results of the literature analysis indicate that this approach provides an authentic learning context, facilitating holistic English language skills. Students involved in these projects show a significant improvement in speaking and writing abilities, concurrently boosting their motivation to learn. Furthermore, collaboration within projects enhances social skills and problem-solving abilities. The implications of this research contribute to the design of English language curricula in higher education, emphasizing the need to integrate project-based learning approaches.

Abstract

The growing population and the increasing economic growth in the city of Bandar Lampung haveled to expanding geographic mobility within the city. The provision of a mass transit system, therefore, is vastly indispensable for anticipating high traffic densities. This study was trying toexamine whether the operational performance of trans-Bandar Lampung buses, or called “BusRapid Transit” (BRT), has conformed to the existing standards. The results are expected to betaken for consideration by the municipal government when adopting policies to improve BRT’soperational performance and to scale back traffic jams. The study focused only on one corridor, the Rajabasa-Sukaraja corridor, and used the World Bank(1986) standards as the reference. Observations were then made in three days: Monday andThursday to represent workdays, and Sunday to represent days off, with each observation dayspanning from 6.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.The results reveal that time headway, 6.29 minutes (on the Rajabasa-Sukaraja corridor), and tripspeed, 25.45 km/h, have met the World Bank’s standards. However, traveled distance, 112.36 kmper vehicle, and load factor, 20.53%, are below the given standards. This low load factor has led tosmall revenue per vehicle, i.e. only Rp346,503.56. Dividing the amount by the operating cost(operating ratio) per vehicle gives us a value of 0.7 (less than 1). In other words, the BRT systemhas been operating at a loss.In the final analysis, it is vital that the municipal government take strategic policies to reduce thenumber of minibuses, or angkot, that operates on the same corridor as the BRT buses’, so thatmore passengers will shift to these BRT buses. The government should also grant subsidiesimmediately to make up for the loss currently being suffered by this BRT.Keyword : BRT, trans-Bandar Lampung bus, Rajabasa, Sukaraja, time headway, load factor.

Abstract

This study consisted of two phases, namely collecting primary datas required, such as passengercharacteristics, choice of transport modes, flight datas, the number of passengers on certainperiod of time, distance and travel time from the Tanjung Karang Station to Radin Inten II SouthLampung Airport. Then analyze it with some methods that are used as conclusion parameters. This study uses several parameters used as reference for the planned mode of transportationplanning, i.e. the percentage of the characteristics and mode choice questionnaire results, multinomial logistic, simple linear regression, and performance planning mode of transportationof the plan. From the analysis of the datas percentage of the number of passengers with journey from BandarLampung origin who have the willingness to switch to the planned mode of transportationamounted to 96.67% or 72.75% of total passenger aircraft. The approximate number ofpassengers who will use public transport development plan based on the number of passengers 5years ie in 2019 amounted to 3,057 people per day. Planned modes of transportation wereplanned start the movement from 05.00 am to 07.00 pm with a departure time between busvulnerable for 15 minutes. As for the trip Radin Inten II Airport South Lampung - Tanjung KarangStation planned start movement from 07.00 am to 09.00 pm with a departure time of 15 minutesvulnerable. Based on the results of the processing of survey data obtained estimates of the numberof passengers in 2019 as many as 27 passengers per trip. Therefore it is required the type oftransport that meet these criteria are buses with a capacity of 35 passengers or so-called mediumbus. Performance planning public transportation based on the results of the questionnaire surveydata processing and some suggestions of passenger aircraft with the results of the servicefrequency of 4 veh / hour, 15-minute headway time, load factor of 77.14%, cycle time of 150minutes, the vehicle needs a number 12 vehicles, vehicle mileage per day amounted to 282 km,traveling speed of not more than 100 km / hour, mileage per trip of 23.5 km.Keywords: Radin Inten II Airport Lampung Selatan, Tanjung Karang Station, transportationplanning, public transportation, Performance Planning Public Transportation.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the trip assignment or the selection of travel routes for vehicles coming out of Bakauheni Port with the existence of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road. The choice of route through the Trans Sumatra Toll Road by motorists will certainly affect the reduced travel time, where the travel value applies to each person is different. In this study, the data obtained using the Diversion Curve method with data analysis techniques model JICA 1, Multiplier Regression, and Logit-Binomial to determine the route selection model, and time value calculations using the PCI method. The results of this study indicate that the probability of vehicles switching to Trans Sumatra Toll Road for cars is 78.74%, trucks are 74.74%, and buses are 61.80%. Furthermore, the results of modeling route selection with diversion curves obtained in car vehicles are multiplier Regression models which means the greater the comparison of the time of using the toll road than using another alternative road the greater the percentage of vehicles switching to use the toll road and modeling of truck vehicle route selection and modeling of truck vehicle route selection is the Logit-Binomial model which means saving travel time is one of the reasons for driving trucks to use toll roads The calculation of the time value of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road is more economical compared to the Sumatra Highway.  Keywords: Trip assignment, vehicle probability, route selection, time value
