Abstract

Spermatogenesis is the process of spermatozoa formation. An increase in free radicals, such as in hyperglycemia conditions, causes oxidative stress, which can interfere with spermatogenesis. Oxidative stress is an inequality condition between the body’s capacity to produce antioxidants and the rise of free radicals. Antioxidants such as flavonoids are contained in plants such as Moringa oleifera leaves. During spermatogenesis, an apoptosis process involves the BAX gene. BAX is a gene that functions as pro-apoptosis. There is also a CO1 gene in mitochondria, which plays a role in cellular metabolism. Gene expression examination assesses the comparative threshold cycle (CT) with RT-PCR, and spermatozoa quality examination includes assessing spermatozoa concentration and motility. This study used 30 male white Sprague Dawley rats as the test animals, which were divided into five treatment groups: treatment of moringa leaf extract dose 200 mg/kg BW, treatment dose 300 mg/kg BW, treatment dose 400 mg/kg BW, normal control group, and positive control group. The results showed a decrease in BAX gene expression and CO1 gene expression in the treatment group of test animals. The results of sperm analysis showed an increase in spermatozoa concentration in all treatment groups compared to the control group. For sperm motility in the 400 mg/KgBB dose treatment, an increase in sperm motility compared to the control group. This study concludes that administering moringa leaf extract reduced the expression of the Bax and CO1 genes. However, no significant changes were observed in sperm concentration and motility within the treatment group.

Abstract

Background: Stunting is a condition where a child's height does not match their age caused by persistent nutritional disorders. The incidence of stunting in the  Indramayu area is quite high, namely 29.19% in 2019 which exceeds the WHO target of 20%.  Antenatal visits indirectly induce stunting since stunting factors can be seen prenatally.  Antenatal visits are a series of comprehensive examinations for pregnant women. The Indonesian Ministry of Health's 2021 recommendations divide antenatal visits into the first (K1), fourth (K4), and sixth (K6) visits. This study aimed to discover the relationship quantity of antenatal visits and the incidence of stunting in toddlers in the Margadadi Puskesmas Working Area, Indramayu Regency. Subjects and Method: A case-control study conducted at the Margadadi Community Health Center, Indramayu, West Java, Indonesia. A total of 60 moms of toddlers selected in this study use the consecutive sampling, with 30 subjects each as a case and control group. The dependent variable was stunting. The independent variables were ANC visit follow are K1, K4, and K6. Data collected by questionairre. Data were analyzed by Chi-Square test. Results: Pregnant women who had complete K6 antenatal visits had lower risk to have stunted children (OR= 0.20; 95% CI= 0.04 to 1.02; p= 0.038). Conclusion: K6 shows a protective relationship on stunting.

Abstract

This study explored the proliferative and chondrogenic differentiation capacities of nanofiber containing silk fibroin hybrid Bombyx mori silkworm cocoons (Japan-China SP-01 variant from Indonesia) and PHA P(3HB-co-3HHx) on human adipose mesenchymal stem cells. First, the scaffolds were prepared for electrospinning by combining two distinct biomaterials, consisting of silk fibroin derived from hybrid Bombyx mori silkworm cocoons, with a combination of 3-hydroxybutyrate (3HB) and 3-hydroxyhexanoate (3HHx). The effects of various ratios of P(3HB-co-3HHx)/Silk Fibroin nanofiber mixture on proliferative and differentiation capacity were then investigated. Following that, the morphology, chemical compositions, contact angle, tensile strength, roughness, cell viability, and human adipose mesenchymal stem cell differentiation of the nanofiber were investigated by collagen type 2 gene expression. The results of scanning electron microscopy showed the mean diameter of the nanofiber ranged from 370-600  nm. Following that, 16,000 volts was prominent for nanofiber manufacture in all ratios. It was also demonstrated that the nanofiber has significant mechanical properties, acceptable hydrophilicity and smoothness, and appropriate cell viability (up to 99.1% compared to the control on silk fibroin nanofiber). Although PHA increased tensile strength, silk fibroin administration to the mixture predominantly enhanced chondrogenic differentiation, as evidenced by modulation of chondrogenic collagen type 2 (up to 8.718-fold) gene markers. Furthermore, the physicochemical characteristics of the nanofiber mixture significantly influenced the proliferation and differentiation of human adipose mesenchymal stem cells. The results of the tests showed that silk fibroin administration into a nanofiber mixture has improved chondrogenesis and showed great potential as a cartilage tissue scaffold.

Abstract

Coronavirus disease originating from Wuhan, China, has spread throughout the world, including in Indonesia. Covid-19 patients were first detected in Depok, Cinere, West Java, and increased on June 20, 2020. There have been 45,029 positive cases of Covid-19 on June 2021. Gandul Cinere village is located bordered by South Jakarta. Jakarta has a relatively high number of Covid-19 positive patients. Many people lost their jobs during the pandemic, including in the Jakarta and surrounding areas. Anis Baswedan, the governor, expects the unemployment rate due to the Covid-19 Pandemic in the DKI Jakarta area will reach 10 percent in 2021. This shows that economic problems cannot be ruled out easily. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve the economy of UMKM (Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah) to further strengthen Indonesia's economy, especially in the DKI Jakarta and surrounding areas. Red Ginger (Zingiber officinale var Rubrum) and lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) are easy to find in Indonesia. Palm Sugar Ginger Lemongrass (MI JAREN) instant drink is an excellent herbal product to be studied and marketed in the Gandul village community. This instant herbal drink-making training was provided online, along with how to package it. The activity results showed that society in Kampung KB Gandul has good knowledge, only still requires guidance for the marketing, especially online. It is hoped that this community service activity can improve the economy in Kampung KB Gandul while also keeping the people of Kampung KB Gandul to avoid COVID-19 infection.

Abstract

Gandul Cinere village is located bordered by South Jakarta. Jakarta has a fairly highnumber of SARS-COV 2 positive patients. The Indonesian Government has determined thatIndonesia is entering the New Normal era in June 2020. Many people in the community donot care about health protocols in the New Normal era and consider that the Covid-19pandemic is no longer a threat. Our goals are (1) increasing PHBS knowledge andawareness of health cadres to implement PHBS and to teach the community in everyday lifein the New Normal era, and (2) decreasing incidence of Covid-19 related illness in GandulCinere Village. Therefore, a continuous understanding of health protocols is needed. PHBSis part of the health protocol that must be run in this New Normal era. Continued knowledgeprovision is required in order to prevent the transmission of Covid-19, especially in theGandul Village area, Cinere, which borders the red zone area of Covid-19. Health cadreswho are the vanguard need assistance and guidance in understanding and applying PHBS ineveryday life. The methods used were online counseling, online discussion, online mentoring, and pre-/post-test implementation. The result showed increased knowledge about Clean andHealthy Living Behavior after given counseling and discussion with the respondent.
