This study dealt with Survival Strategy for Lokan Seekers in Paya Pasir Village, Kec. Marelan, Medan, Indonesia. This situation explains that the number of women in poverty is still high. The high rate of poverty involving women certainly does not happen on its own, there are many things that must be explored and investigated and discussed about what factors make women and poverty as difficult to reduce and eliminate. The research used was qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. Spradley (1997: 3) argues that ethnography is the work of describing a culture. The main purpose of this activity is to understand a view of life from the perspective of the native population. In result, For parents, especially those who have a low income level, it should make children's education the first, because to improve the standard of living can only be done with education. Good children's education will produce changes in life. Besides that, a child should not be taught or supervised in fulfilling the family's economic needs, so that the child can be more focused in taking his education. With this education, a child can compete in the world of structural work, so as to reduce poverty as in the area of Paya Pasir Village.

Newspapers have a very important position in the politics of the Indonesian independence movement. Soara Batak is the first independence movement newspaper published in Batakland. This newspaper became a medium of information and communication, for the political organization Hatopan Kristen Batak (HKB). The initial purpose of publishing this newspaper was to oppose Dutch colonialism and the threat of foreign plantation entrepreneurs who wanted to capitalize on Batakland for personal gain. This can be seen from the motto of this newspaper which is written: Oela tanom, Oelang digomak Oelando which means “Cultivate your land, so that the Dutch do not take it”. This newspaper's courage in criticizing the colonial rulers caused Soara Batak's movements to be closely monitored. Tuan M. H. Manullang and A. Soetan Soemoroeng, the dual HKB and Soara Batak received repressive measures from the colonial government for their bold and sharp writings. The presence of Soara Batak had an important role in the politics of the Batak people's movement, which succeeded in igniting the people's fighting spirit to want to oppose Dutch colonialism which was very oppressive.

Purpose of the study: This study aims to present the findings from the Bongal Site as an essential learning resource for the History subject in Senior High Schools, particularly in exploring the dynamics of cultural interaction and the spread of religion in the Indonesian archipelago during ancient times. Methodology: This research employs a qualitative methodology, integrating historical and archaeological approaches. The historical approach is used to reconstruct the process of Christianity’s arrival on the west coast of Sumatra. At the same time, archaeological data are supported by an extensive literature review and field observations. Main Findings: The findings reveal that the spread of early Christianity to Sumatra, though still debated among historians, is evidenced by written sources indicating the presence of the Nestorian Church in the Fansur (Barus) region. Archaeological excavations at the Bongal Site uncovered various artifacts such as rings engraved with crosses, Roman beads, carved stones with Christian symbols, and Byzantine liturgical spoons that support this narrative. Novelty/Originality of this study: The originality of this study lies in the identification and comparative analysis of artifacts that bear significant resemblance to early Roman and Byzantine Christian objects. These findings not only offer new insights into the early presence of Christianity on Sumatra’s west coast but also support the use of the Bongal Site as a contextual and meaningful historical learning resource in secondary education.
