Abstract

Maternal health is measured by the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR), where hypertension in pregnancy is one of the leading causes of maternal death worldwide. In 2020, approximately 302,000 maternal deaths were recorded in developing countries, some of which were caused by complications of hypertension. Approximately 10% of pregnancies globally are affected by hypertension, which can cause acute morbidity, long-term disability, and even maternal and infant death. Hypertension management is not only through pharmacological therapy, but also through non-pharmacological approaches such as upper back massage. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of upper back massage on reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure in third-trimester pregnant women at Cilegon City Hospital in 2024. The study design used a quasi-experimental approach with a pretest-posttest approach without a control group and involved 25 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The results of the paired t-test showed a decrease in mean systolic pressure from 144 mmHg to 133 mmHg, and diastolic from 93 mmHg to 83 mmHg, with a significance value of p= 0.001 (p < 0.05). It can be concluded that upper back massage is effective in reducing blood pressure in pregnant women in the third trimester, so it can be used as a supporting intervention in the management of gestational hypertension.

Abstract

The Green Hospital Model is crucial for aligning healthcare facilities with sustainable development goals. Implementing green initiatives in hospitals in Indonesia faces challenges despite the country's efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and services. This study aimed to review pieces of literature (abroad and in Indonesia) and policies and regulations related to green hospitals in Indonesia. This study carried out some literature and policies to compare and have a deep understanding of stakeholders’ role in collaborating to implement the green hospital in Indonesia. Totally 7 journal articles from outside and inside Indonesia were included in this study from databases Science Direct and Scholar Google. Moreover, the policies and regulations are found in Google and Scholar Google. The results found that there is no role model and representative of green hospitals in Indonesia to lead other hospitals. The limited collaboration between stakeholders is also an issue. The conclusion includes the preparedness of the government to seriously implement the green hospital.

Abstract

The study conducted in Sriamur Village, Tambun Utara District in 2023 aimed to investigate factors influencing infertility among women of reproductive age (PUS). Infertility, defined as the inability to conceive after one year of unprotected intercourse or inability to carry a pregnancy to term, was examined in relation to age, lifestyle, BMI, stress, and menstrual disorders. Using quantitative cross-sectional research, the study analyzed data from 16 infertile PUS using a total sampling technique. The results indicated significant relationships between several factors and infertility. Regarding age, both husbands and wives showed no statistically significant relationship. Similarly, lifestyle, BMI, stress, and menstrual disorders exhibited no significant association with infertility among both husbands and wives. However, the study concluded that there was a relationship between age, lifestyle, BMI, stress, and menstrual disorders with the occurrence of infertility among PUS in the study area. This research contributes valuable insights into understanding the multifactorial nature of infertility and highlights the importance of addressing various aspects such as lifestyle choices, stress management, and menstrual health in the context of reproductive health. By identifying these factors, healthcare professionals can develop targeted interventions and support strategies to help individuals facing infertility in Sriamur Village and similar communities.

Abstract

Introduction: Labor pain varies in intensity, with many women experiencing high levels during delivery. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of sacral massage on pain intensity and fetal head descent during the first stage of labor. Method: A quantitative study was conducted with a sample of laboring mothers divided into intervention and control groups. Participants were selected using purposive sampling, with criteria including mothers aged 20-35 years, active first-stage labor, good maternal and fetal health, cephalic presentation, and uncomplicated labor. The intervention involved lumbar-sacral massage for 20 minutes, repeated once, with intervals of 5-10 minutes. The control group received relaxation through breathing exercises. The study took place from January to March 2024. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon and t-tests with a significance level of 0.05. Results: The intervention group significantly reduced labor pain (pre: 6.90, post: 3.70, p=0.000). There was no significant difference in fetal head descent duration between groups (p = 0.05). Conclusion: Lumbar sacral massage is an effective non-pharmacological method for reducing labor pain and is recommended for pain management in midwifery practice.

Abstract

Indonesia has the fourth-largest population in the world. Uncontrolled population growth can decrease the health status and quality of life of the population. Therefore, the government has an obligation to control the rate of population growth. One way to manage population growth is through family planning programs and the use of contraceptives by couples of reproductive age. The aim of this program is to regulate the number of births and control birth spacing. Hence, couples of reproductive age need to select appropriate contraceptive methods in order to help control population growth effectively. This study aims to examine the factors that influence couples of reproductive age in choosing contraceptive methods. The researcher used a literature review method. Relevant literature was collected from Google Scholar, comprising 10 articles published between 2020 and 2023, following the PRISMA framework. The results of the study show that there are both direct and indirect factors influencing contraceptive method selection. The direct influencing factor is the husband's support, while the indirect factors include health education and counseling, as well as the level of knowledge of couples regarding contraceptive use. It can be concluded that couples of reproductive age tend to choose appropriate contraceptive methods due to the support from their husbands, exposure to health education or having received counseling from healthcare providers, and having adequate knowledge or access to information about contraceptive tools.
