Abstract

Sports are widely recognized as an important medium for cultivating positive values in adolescents. This study aims to analysis the impact of gender, sport type, and social support on the development of positive values in adolescents using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The review was conducted on 8 selected articles from 738 documents collected following the PRISMA guidelines and inclusion-exclusion criteria. The results showed that the type of sport (individual or team) influences the formation of different values, including responsibility, cooperation, and leadership. Gender factors play a role in shaping adolescents' experiences and social roles in the sport context, while social support from parents, peers, and teachers strengthens motivation and character development. The conclusion is that the formation of positive values in adolescents through sport is the result of the interaction of various factors, namely individual factors, sport type, and social support. Therefore, an integrative and contextual approach with the Positive Youth Development (PYD) framework is needed. This study provides a basis for developing education and sports policies that support the development of positive character comprehensively.

Abstract

Shot put is a sport that relies on explosive strength and energy transfer through the kinetic chain. However, conventional training approaches that focus on isolated muscle strengthening are often ineffective because they do not resemble the multidimensional movement patterns seen in competition. This study aims to analyze the effect of a functional training program on increasing lean muscle mass in the arms, torso, and legs of shot put athletes. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a one-group pre-test post-test design. A total of 16 male athletes participated in a structured functional training program for 8 weeks with a frequency of 3 sessions per week. Lean muscle mass was measured using Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) with a strict protocol. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test and Cohen's d. The results showed a significant increase in lean muscle mass in all three areas: arms increased by 1.36% (p < 0.001; d = 3.111), torso by 0.60% (p < 0.001; d = 3.361), and legs by 0.68% (p < 0.001; d = 3.525). The highest absolute increase occurred in the torso (0.192 kg). The conclusion of this study is that a periodization-based functional training program effectively increases lean muscle mass significantly in shot put athletes, with a very large practical impact (large effect size).

Abstract

The World Athletics Kids’ Athletics Level 2 programme targets children aged 8–11 years through running, jumping, and throwing activities. However, no standardised and psychometrically validated instrument exists to assess Kids’ Athletics movement skills among Indonesian children. This study developed and validated the Kids’ Athletics Movement Skill Assessment (KAMS), comprising six sub-tests: 30 m Sprint, Hurdles Sprint, Standing Long Jump, Standing Triple Jump, Turbo Throw, and Medicine Ball Push. Following the COSMIN framework, instrument development included item generation, expert content validation, pilot testing (n = 30), and psychometric evaluation with 60 primary school students (30 boys, 30 girls). Content validity was perfect (S-CVI/Ave = 1.00). Inter-rater reliability was excellent (ICC = 0.910), intra-rater reliability ranged from 0.836–0.970, and test-retest reliability ranged from 0.750–0.871. Internal consistency was acceptable (Cronbach’s α = 0.793). The mean total process score was 24.68 ± 3.33, with 83.3% of students achieving at least the Good category. Although boys showed higher throwing and jumping product scores, total process scores did not differ significantly by gender. KAMS demonstrated excellent psychometric properties and is suitable for evaluating Kids’ Athletics programmes in Indonesian primary school children, with further studies recommended to establish construct and concurrent validity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between physical fitness levels and basketball performance among students participating in extracurricular activities at SMAN 4 Kota Bandung. Physical fitness plays a crucial role in enhancing athletic performance, and this study focuses on how fitness levels influence basketball skills. The research method employed is a quantitative approach using a one-shot case study design. The research sample consisted of 60 students who actively participated in basketball extracurricular activities. Physical fitness data was measured using the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test (TKJI), which includes several physical components such as running, body lifting, and endurance, while performance was measured using the Game Performance Assessment Instrument (GPAI), which evaluates technical skills and game strategy. The results showed that most students were in the “adequate” physical fitness category, while their playing performance was in the “poor” category. Correlation analysis using Pearson's coefficient revealed a significant positive relationship (r = 0.366, p < 0.047) between physical fitness levels and basketball playing performance among female students. Furthermore, Pearson's correlation coefficient analysis revealed a significant positive correlation (r = 0.401, p < 0.028) between physical fitness levels and basketball performance among male students. This indicates that students with better physical fitness tend to demonstrate better playing skills, which can directly impact success on the court.

Abstract

The National Student Fitness Test is an evaluation instrument developed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) to assess the physical fitness levels of Indonesian students. However, its implementation in schools still faces several challenges, particularly the lack of optimal integration with physical education learning. This study aims to describe the implementation of The National Student Fitness Test in schools. This research uses a quantitative descriptive methods. The sample used in this research was physical education teachers in Lembang sub-district. Data analysis used descriptive statistics to present percentage distributions. The results indicate that most teachers (70.6%) have implemented national student fitness test, and its overall application is categorized as good, especially in terms of preparation (85.48%) and assessment accuracy (82.24%). Nevertheless, the main challenges were found in administrative procedures (65.48%) and in the utilization of assessment results (68.60%). In addition, teachers expressed very high expectations regarding the development of a digital-based national student fitness test system (90.80%). The study concludes that the implementation of national student fitness test in schools has been adequate in terms of preparation and assessment accuracy, but it still faces obstacles related to administration and the use of assessment outcomes. The strong expectation for national student fitness test digitalization highlights the need for a more efficient and accurate system to support the management of fitness data. Strengthening teacher competence and developing an integrated digital platform are therefore essential steps to optimize the role of national student fitness test in evaluating and planning physical education learning in schools.
