Abstract

Kayu mempunyai sifat yang mudah terbakar dan sebagian besar mempunyai keawetan alami yang rendah. Perbaikan kualitas kayu dilakukan untuk mengatasi kelemahan tersebut, salah satunya dengan mengimpregnasikan bahan kimia yang bersifat menghambat api dan beracun terhadap organisme perusak kayu. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melihat kemampuan boraks:asam borat (1:1) untuk meningkatkan ketahanan kayu meranti merah terhadap api dan rayap kayu kering dan mengetahui proses pengawetan yang efektif. Penelitian ini menggunakan kayu meranti merah (Shorea spp) berukuran 6 x 15 x 500 cm. Waktu pengawetan adalah 1, 2, dan 3 jam serta konsentrasi bahan pengawet 7% dalam 5 ulangan. Metode pengawetan menggunakan metode sel kosong dengan tekanan 12 kg/cm2 . Pengujian ketahanan terhadap api mengacu pada ASTM E 69-02 prosedur B, pengujian ketahanan terhadap rayap kayu kering mengacu pada metode rayap makan tanpa pilihan. Parameter yang diamati ialah absorpsi, retensi aktual, intensitas bakar, suhu pembakaran maksimal, lama pembaraan, mortalitas rayap kayu kering, pengurangan berat contoh uji, derajat kerusakan dan kondisi fisik sampel setelah uji bakar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi boraks:asam borat (1:1) memiliki efektivitas yang tinggi untuk meningkatkan ketahanan kayu meranti merah terhadap api dan rayap kayu kering. Proses pengawetan yang paling efektif adalah lama penekanan 2 jam dengan absorpsi 331 kg/m3 ; retensi aktual 28,8 kg/m3 ; intensitas bakar 10,9%; suhu pembakaran maksimal 140ºC; lama pembaraan 1,03 menit; mortalitas rayap kayu kering 100%; pengurangan berat contoh uji 0,002%; serta derajat kerusakan kategori ringan.Katakunci: penghambat api, anti rayap, boraks, Shorea spp, Cryptotermes cynocephalus Borax and Boric Acid Combination As Fire Retardant and Anti-termite Agents on Red Meranti WoodAbstractWoods have properties which are easy to be ignited by fire and most of them have a low natural durability. Therefore, it is required to improve the quality of wood by impregnating the fire-retardant and anti-termites possessed chemicals. The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of impregnation duration by combination of borax:boric acid ( 1:1) against the fire and termites. This study used red meranti wood (Shorea spp) with the dimension of 6 x 15 x 500 cm. The pressure times were 1, 2, and 3 hours as the concentration of borax:boric acid was 7% in 5 replications. Empty cell method was applied as preservation method by 12 kg/cm2 of pressure. Testing the fire resistance referred ASTM E 69-02 B and anti-termite evaluation was conducted by no-choice feeding method. Observed parameters were absorption, actual retention, burn intensity, maximum combustion temperature, glowing time, termite mortality, mass loss, the degree of damage and visual observation. The results showed that the combination of borax: boric acid (1: 1) could improve the quality of red meranti samples against the fire and termite attacks. The most effective impregnation process were 2 hours of pressing time to obtain the 331 kg/ m3 of absorption; actual retention of 28.8 kg/ m3; burnt intensity of 10.9%; maximum combustion temperature of 140ºC; glowing time of 1.03 minutes, termite mortality of 100%; mass loss of 0.002%; and mild degrees of damage category.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan tumbuhan belum banyak dilakukan sebagai bahan alami pengawet kayu padahal jumlah dan jenisnya cukup melimpah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas ekstrak etanol tumbuhan kumis kucing (Orthosiphon sp.) pada konsentrasi ekstrak terhadap pelarut 1:12, 1:8 dan 1:4 terhadap mortalitas rayap kayu kering (Cryptotermes sp.), pengurangan berat dan derajat kerusakan contoh uji (kertas saring) dalam rangka aplikasinya sebagai pengawet alami kayu. Penelitian dilakukan dengan mengimpregnasi ekstrak etanol campuran daun dan ranting kumis kucing pada kertas saring lalu diumpankan pada rayap kayu kering. Data penelitian dianalisis dengan analisis varian. Analisis varian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan konsentrasi berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap mortalitas rayap kayu kering. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol kumis kucing pada konsentrasi 1:4 menunjukkan efektifitas paling tinggi (mortalitas rayap kayu kering sebesar 65 % dan pengurangan berat contoh uji 2,71 %) dan terendah ditunjukkan oleh kontrol atau konsentrasi 0 (mortalitas rayap sebesar 1 % dan pengurangan berat 37,86 %). Konsentrasi ekstrak juga mempengaruhi besar derajat kerusakan. Semakin tinggi konsentrasi maka semakin rendah derajat kerusakan yang terjadi. Derajat kerusakan pada perlakuan dengan konsentrasi terendah (1:12) hingga tertinggi (1:4), serangan rayapnya dapat digolongkan sebagai berat hingga ringan. Ekstrak etanol tumbuhan kumis kucing konsentrasi 1:4 berpotensi sebagai bahan alami pengawet kayu karena dapat mengurangi degradasi bahan selulosa oleh rayap kayu kering.Katakunci: Orthosiphon sp., Cryptotermes sp., ekstrak daun, anti rayap, pengawet alami. Ethanol Extracts Test of Kumis Kucing (Orthosiphon sp.) Leaves as Natural Preservative of WoodAbstractThe utilization of plants as a natural preservative agent of wood has not much been explored although the amount and kind of plants are relatively abundant. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the extract of kumis kucing (Orthosiphon sp.) plant at the extract concentration to solvent of 1:12 , 1:8 and 1:4 against the dry wood termites (Cryptotermes sp.). The tested parameters were termite mortality, mass loss, and degree of damage of the test samples (filter paper). Research was carried out by impregnating the ethanol extract of the leaves and twigs mixtures in the filter papers and then the papers were fed to dry-wood termites. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance. The analysis of variance showed that treatment concentration has a highly significant effect to the mortality levels of the termites. Further, at the concentration of 1:4, the extract exhibited the highest efficacy (mortality of 65 % and mass loss of 2.71 %) and the lowest levels were shown by the controls or 0 (zero) concentration (mortality of 1 % and mass loss of 37.86 %). The concentration of the extract also affected the degree of damage. The higher the concentration, the lower the degree of damage that occurred. The degree of damage due to termite attacks at the treatment from the lowest (1:12) to the highest (1:4) concentration could be classified as heavy to light. Thus, ethanol extract of the kumis kucing at concentration of 1:4 is potent for wood preservatives because it could reduce the degradation of cellulosic materials due to dry wood termites.

Abstract

Penggunaan perekat alami dan bahan baku non kayu dalam pembuatan papan partikel masih sangat terbatas. Sukrosa dan asam sitrat adalah dua bahan alami yang potensial sebagai perekat alami pengganti perekat sintetik berbasis formaldehida. Nipah (Nypa fruticans Wurmb.) merupakan bahan non kayu yang potensial dijadikan alternatif bahan baku papan partikel. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas papan partikel pelepah nipah yang direkat dengan sukrosa/asam sitrat (100/0, 87,5/12,5 dan 75/25). Papan partikel yang dibuat berukuran 25 cm × 25 cm × 1 cm, target kerapatan 0,8 g/cm3. Variabel perekatan antara lain jumlah perekat 20%, waktu kempa 10 menit, suhu kempa 180°C dan tekanan spesifik 3,6 MPa. Sifat fisika dan mekanika papan partikel diuji berdasarkan standar JIS A 5908:2003, kekasaran permukaan diukur menggunakan metode yang dilakukan oleh Hiziroglu (1996). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan asam sitrat terhadap sukrosa berpengaruh positif terhadap sebagian besar sifat papan partikel pelepah nipah. Papan partikel pelepah nipah dengan perekat sukrosa/asam sitrat 87,5/12,5 mampu memberikan hasil terbaik dengan memenuhi standar JIS A 5908:2003. Karakteristik papan partikel tersebut adalah kerapatan 0,89 g/cm3, kadar air 10,21%, pengembangan tebal 2,45%, penyerapan air 23,55%, kekasaran permukaan 5,13 μm, keteguhan rekat internal 0,39 MPa, keteguhan patah 9,80 MPa dan keteguhan elastisitas 3,19 GPa.Kata kunci: papan partikel, pelepah nipah, perekat alami, sukrosa, asam sitrat Quality of the Nipa Frond Particleboard Bonded with Citric acid and SucroseAbstractUtilization of natural binder for non-wood composite is still limited. Sucrose and citric acid are potential natural binding agents for composite products. Nipa (Nypa fruticans Wurmb.) was non-wood materials which are potentially to be used as an alternative raw material for particleboards. This study aimed to determine the quality of the nipa frond particleboard bonded with sucrose/citric acid (100/0, 87.5/12.5 and 75/25). Particleboards were manufactured in 25 cm × 25 cm × 1 cm dimension, the target of density 0.8 g/cm3. The variables included resin content of 20%, press time of 10 m, pressing temperature of 180°C and specific pressure of 3.6 MPa. The physics and mechanics properties of particleboard were tested in accordance to standard JIS A 5908:2003 and surface roughness was measured by following the method performed by Hiziroglu (1996). The results showed that the addition of citric acid to sucrose give a positive effect on most of the properties of the nipa frond particleboards. The particleboard bonded with sucrose/citric acid 87.5/12.5 was able to provide the best results to meet the standards of JIS A 5908: 2003. Characteristics of the particleboard was a density of 0.89 g/cm, moisture content of 10.21%, thickness swelling of 2.45%, water absorption of 23.55%, surface roughness of 5.13 ìm, internal bonding of 0.39 MPa, modulus of rupture of 9.80 MPa and modulus of elasticity of 3.19 GPa.

Abstract

Palangka Raya sebagai ibukota Kalimantan Tengah sekarang ini sedang mengalami proses pembangunan perkotaan. Seiring perkembangannya, pembangunan Kota Palangka Raya juga mengalami perkembangan fisik kota seperti kota-kota besar lainnya di Indonesia, yakni lebih banyak dibangun sarana dan prasarana dengan didukung peningkatan kemampuan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat, maka pembangunan fisik kota juga terus melaju dengan pesat. Namun di sisi lain pembangunan kota ini memberi dampak negatif terhadap lahan yang bervegetasi atau ruang hijau, karena semakin banyak terjadi alih fungsi dari kawasan hijau menjadi kawasan terbangun, mengakibatnya semakin terbatasnya lahan untuk ruang hijau. Gejala pembangunan Kota Palangkaraya merupakan degradasi awal dari menurunnya ketersediaan ruang terbuka hijau atau menghilangkan ruang hijau. Lahan-lahan hijau banyak dialih fungsikan menjadi pertokoan, permukiman, industri, jalan dan lain-lain. Pada akhirnya akan terjadi ketidakseimbangan antara luasnya lahan terbangun dengan sedikitnya lahan untuk hutan kota. Keberadaan ruang hijau sangat diperlukan dalam penataan kawasan terpadu Kota Palangka Raya untuk mengimbangi kepadatan bangunan. Bentuk ragam kegiatan ruang hijau ini secara umum adalah sebagai peneduh dari pemanasan lingkungan sekitar dan sebagai wadah bagi masyarakat kota Palangkaraya untuk bersosialisasi dan berinteraksi dengan alam. Pemenuhan kawasan hijau di Kota Palangka Raya adalah upaya awal menumbuhkan kesadaran akan media penyelaras lingkungan ditinjau dari kecenderungan menurunnya ketersediaan udara bersih dan sehat akibat degradasi alam di Kota Palangka Raya.

Abstract

Sungai memiliki peran yang cukup penting bagi daerah yang wilayahnya sebagian besar terdiri atas perairan. Pada perkembangannya area ini berkembang menjadi suatu kawasan pemukiman yang terbentuk karena masyarakat yang menetap dan membentuk kawasan baru disana memiliki orientasi pada sungai secara fungsi dan akses.Kawasan tepian sungai merupakan karakter yang berbeda tergantung pada lingkungan sekitarnya, namun secara karakteristik memiliki kesamaan. Perubahan bentuk kawasan air merupakan ekspresi yang menggambarkan keinginan dan aspirasi warga kota, dan mereka menggabungkan banyak fasilitas seperti perumahan, perbelanjaan, rekreasi, pendidikan dan sebagainya.Kalimantan merupakan salah satu daerah yang sebagian besar wilayahnya terdiri atas perairan. Pahandut merupakan salah satu kawasan tepian sungai yang terdapat dikawasan tepian sungai Kahayan. Pahandut merupakan kampung lama yang pola pembentukannya tidak pernah terencana sebelumnya. Dengan jumlah lahan kosong yang cukup besar yaitu 42 % dari luas seluruh kawasan, daerah ini memiliki potensi yang cukup besar dalam upaya pengembangan kawasan sekaligus penataan kembali kawasan.Prospek penataan Kelurahan Pahandut Seberang sebagai usulan wisata Kota Palangka Raya melalui upaya membuka akses peremajaan kawasan berupa identifikasi potensi kawasan sebagai langkah untuk peningkatan kualitas lingkungan juga menghidupkan kembali peran kelurahan dalam pembangunan kota.

Abstract

South Barito Regency is located in Central Kalimantan Province which has potential in the tourism sector. One of the districts as a tourist attraction in South Barito Regency is Dusun Selatan District. Tourist attractions include natural attractions, sports attractions, man-made attractions and special interest attractions. There are twenty one tourist objects in Dusun Selatan District, with developing tourist areas namely natural tourism, man-made tourism and cultural tourism. The aim of the research is to identify the tourism development potential of Dusun Selatan District, South Barito Regency from various natural resources, cultural tourism and artificial tourism. The tourism potential in several villages in Dusun Selatan District is an opportunity for the development of a tourist area in South Barito Regency. The research method uses qualitative methods based on data from literature studies and observations, to process the analysis and synthesis of tourism potential with reference to regional analysis through the SWOT analysis tool. Abstract

This service activity facilitates the assistance of Pahandut Seberang Village residents in realising a green village by utilising open land and yards for land media for vegetable and fruit plants. Open land and yards are used as a medium that can be planted with vegetable and fruit daily needs. The service aims to stimulate riverbank communities to utilise open land areas and yards to grow vegetables and fruit as an implementation of green villages in Pahandut Seberang Village. The Green kampung programme is planned to be located at the Daruth Tayyibah Mosque in the riverbank residential area of Pahandut Seberang Village, Pahandut District, Palangka Raya City. The method uses a qualitative method based on the process of interviewing the needs of residents, community meetings in selecting plants, planting vegetables and fruit, plant maintenance, and harvesting by the women of the Pahandut Seberang Village Recitation. The University of Palangka Raya Service Team provided assistance to the women's group in learning in the form of training from the stages of designing land, selecting plants, planting, caring for and harvesting vegetable and fruit plants. The results of this service are the implementation of green village training activities in the form of socialisation, seedling sowing, transplanting into recycled pots, and monitoring the maintenance of vegetable and fruit plants. Training activities for recitation mothers provide long-term opportunities as entrepreneurs of the riverbank community. The results of this training serve as a trigger for communities from other villages to implement the green kampung programme in the villages of Palangka Raya City.

Abstract

School-age children are classified as a critical age group, because at that age an individual is more susceptible to experiencing health problems. The health problems experienced by school-age children are very complex and varied, but according to many children who are sick today because of a lack of knowledge about personal hygiene. Socialization regarding the application of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior to students is a response to problems that occur which is carried out in order to increase students' awareness and knowledge so they can practice Clean and Healthy Living Behavior. This outreach was carried out to students of SDN 1 Masaran and SMPN 5 Kapuas Tengah, in Masaran Village, Kapuas Tengah District, Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. The implementation method uses a qualitative method to identify the Clean and Healthy Lifestyle of school children at the elementary and junior high school levels. The activity was carried out in two stages, namely planning and implementation through lectures, questions and answers, and hand washing demonstrations. The PHBS socialization activities went smoothly and well, all students enthusiastically took part in the socialization activities regarding PHBS. The results of the service include an increase in students' knowledge regarding PHBS which is proven through the understanding of PHBS and the implementation carried out by students

Abstract

Food security starts from availability on a small scale, namely households. Utilizing the function of the yard as a medium used by the community to grow their daily needs of vegetables. Urban farming as a strategic concept in meeting household needs and food security for village communities. Urban farming is an implementation of the Community Empowerment Assistant Lecturer Program of the Faculty of Engineering of Palangka Raya University in partnership with the Religious Women of RW 02/RW 03, Pahandut Seberang Subdistrict. Urban farming is located in a residential area on the banks of the Pahandut Seberang River, Pahandut District, Palangka Raya City. The service aims to stimulate riverside communities to use the area in their yards to grow vegetables as a pilot project carried out in the courtyard of the Daruth Tayyibah Mosque. The method uses qualitative methods from the results of interviews with residents' needs and consultations with residents. The result of the service was the implementation of urban farming in the courtyard of the Daruth Tayyibah Mosque, Pahandut Seberang Subdistrict, from the initial stage, discussion activities were carried out with the Head of RT.03/RW. 02 and the community, conducting outreach to the women of Koran regarding the introduction of hydroponics through, and it is hoped that the results of the urban farming pilot project can be used by women in their home gardens to grow vegetables for daily needs, and in the long term as a business opportunity for riverside communities.

Abstract

Utilizing footbridges and yards on the Kahayan Riverside area, Langkai Village as an initial idea in efforts to fulfill food security. Footbridges and yards are used as media where daily vegetable and fruit crops can be planted. Vegetables and fruit fulfill daily needs and provide special skills for children at Islamic boarding schools. The location of the Islamic boarding school in Palangka Raya City is located on the riverside area, this inspired the idea of ​​growing fruit and vegetables on the Kahayan. River side area to provide food supplies. The service aims to stimulate the children (Students) of Madradah Tsanawiyah Hidayatul Insan to use the walkways and yards as areas for growing fruit and vegetables. The location of the service is located at the Hidayatul Insan Islamic Boarding School on the Kahayan Riverside area, Langkai Village. The method used was a qualitative method based on interviews with Islamic boarding school supervisors, discussions regarding types of fruit and vegetable plants, and planting fruit and vegetables using hydroponic cultivation media by Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Hidayatul Insan students. Activities of the Community Empowerment Assistant Lecturer Program Team (PDPPM) FT UPR have provided assistance starting from the preparation stage, implementation stage, and until the stage of harvesting the plants.
