Abstract

Analysis of Consumer Preferences on Watermelon at Traditional Markets in Denpasar City. Watermelon is a fruit commodity that is available throughout the year, which could be found at traditional markets, modern markets, and fruit retailers. This study aims to determine the consumer preferences attributes of watermelon and to find out the attributes that are most considered by consumers. The types of data used in this research are quantitative and qualitative data. Sources of data used in this study are primary and secondary data. Chi-square analysis was used to determine consumer preferences for watermelon attributes and Fishbein multi-attribute was used to determine the attributes most considered by consumers. The watermelon attributes studied were price, color, size and shape. The research location was chosen purposively by selecting four traditional markets. 80 samples were selected by using accidental sampling technique. The results of the Chi-square analysis indicate that there is a preference relationship between the four attributes studied. Attributes that become consumer preferences are round shape, red color, medium size (3-5 kg) and medium price (IDR 15,000-20,000 per kg). The result of Fishbein's multi-attribute analysis shows that the attribute most considered by consumers is shape. Marketers should further increase the supply of medium sized watermelons (3-5 kg) in order to meet consumer preferences. Producers can increase the production of medium-sized watermelons by selecting superior seeds, treating them, and cultivating land and irrigation.

Abstract

The trend of rice productivity and its stability in Badung Regency are presented in this study. The area is a tourism-based economy without leaving the role of rice production to feed the people.  Time series data were collected from five sub districts covering 53 villages during 2008-2016 due to the completeness of the data. Variability of the data was observed from the coefficient of variance (C.V.) to decide rice productivity stability. This study also observed correlation between rainfall and rice productivity in the area. Result of the study shows that rice productivity trend in Badung Regency tend to decline during nine years of observation especially in 2014-2016. Three sub-districts had stable condition, while two sub-districts in tourism area contributed to the decline of this matter. Analysis using bi-plot revealed that there is no significant correlation between rainfall in sub-district and rice productivity, implying that water is available throughout the year.  In terms of stability, majority of villages (69.81%) had stable condition of rice productivity ranging from middle and high category. Other 30.19% villages were categorized as unstable ranging from low to high productivity. This condition showed that Badung Regency were able to maintain stability of rice productivity during nine years of observation. Implication of this study is to pay more attention to two sub districts in tourism area to improve their rice productivity such as implementation of good agricultural practices.

Abstract

Supply Chain Risk Analysis of Tempeh at Pabrik Tahu dan Tempe Masmo Denpasar Bali. This study aims to identify product flow, financial flow and information flow, analyze the risks that occur and formulate risk mitigation to minimize the risks that occur in the tempe supply chain at Pabrik Tahu dan Tempe Masmo. Identification of flows in the supply chain is carried out by interviewing and observing as well as risk analysis using Supply Chain Operation Reference (SCOR) model mapping. The identified risks are then analyzed using the Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) to calculate the Risk Priority Number (RPN) which will be used for the formulation of risk mitigation. The results showed that there were 18 risk events and 25 risk agents spread on SCOR mapping. The risk agent with the largest RPN value is the wrong fermentation room temperature with a value of 384 and the risk agent with the lowest RPN value is a calculation error when ordering soybeans to suppliers with a value of 1. There are 3 risk priorities given risk mitigation. There are three risk mitigation formulations, namely: (1) monitoring room temperature using a room thermometer, (2) performing regular machine maintenance, conducting specific training for workers and providing reward and punishment, (3) monitoring the quality of soybeans from suppliers.

Abstract

Analysis of the Role of Corn Commodities in the Economy of the Karo Regency Corn is one of the world's most important food crops, besides wheat and rice. Karo Regency has the highest corn production in North Sumatra Province. The purposes of this study are (1) to examine whether corn is a basic commodity in Karo Regency; (2) to analyze Karo Regency's revenue from corn; and (3) to examine the role of corn in the economy of Karo Regency. This research is descriptive and quantitative. This research was conducted in Karo Regency. This research uses secondary data. Data collection is done by documentation and analyzed using Location Quotient, Dynamic Location Quotient, Shift Share, and Acceptance methods. The results showed that corn is a basic commodity with a value of LQ > 1 and will remain a basic commodity in the future with a value of DLQ > 1. Karo Regency's revenue from corn commodities from the year of observation fluctuated, namely in 2016 it decreased by 11% and increased in 2017 by 18%. In 2018, it again decreased by 6% and experienced a fairly large increase in 2019, which was 29%. Corn commodities in Karo Regency have an important role in the economy of the Karo Regency area, including opportunities to increase people's purchasing power for processed corn products, both for food and feed products. The Karo Regency government can provide necessary counseling and assistance to farmers to increase corn commodity production in Karo Regency, which, in the end, can increase the wealth or ability of Karo Regency to carry out regional development.
