Abstract

The study was aimed to describe the learning model of problem based learning (PBL) with cooperative setting Numbered Heads Together (NHT) and Think Pair Share (TPS) type in terms of mathematics learning achievement, reflective thinking skills, and self regulated learning of junior high school 8th grade students. The study was a quasi experimental research with pretest-posttest non-equivalent group design. The sample were taken at random from five classes, consisted  of VIII-A and VIII-C. Data were analyzed by using multivariate statistical using Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA). The result of the study at 5% level significance indicated that PBL with cooperative setting TPS type was effective in terms of reflective thinking skill; there was no difference of the effectiveness between PBL with cooperative setting NHT type and PBL with cooperative setting TPS type in terms of achievement, reflective thinking skills, and self-regulated learning of junior high school 8th grade students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan hubungan kemampuan koneksi matematika, rasa ingin tahu, dan self-efficacy dengan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa SMA. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian ex post facto. Populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh siswa kelas X di Kabupaten Brebes. Sampel adalah 362 siswa yang berasal dari enam sekolah di Kabupaten Brebes ditentukan dengan stratified propotional random sampling technique. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan tes dan angket dengan skala likert. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis linier ganda dan analisis korelasi parsial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan koneksi matematis, rasa ingin tahu, dan self-efficacy secara bersama-sama berhubungan dengan kemampuan penalaran matematika siswa SMA, dimana kontribusi yang diberikan sebesar 46,3%, serta persamaan regresi yang diperoleh yaitu Y = 0,97 + 0,422X1 + 0,059 X2 + 0,041 X3. Hubungan antara kemampuan koneksi matematis (X1) dengan kemampuan penalaran (Y) dengan kontribusi sebesar 23,27%. Hubungan antara rasa ingin tahu (X2) dengan kemampuan penalaran dengan kontribusi sebesar 3,59%. Hubungan antara self-efficacy (X3) dengan kemampuan penalaran dengan kontribusi sebesar 1,81%. Relationship between mathematical connection ability, curiosity, and self-efficacy with mathematical reasoning abilityAbstractThis study aimed to describe the relationship between mathematical connection ability, curiosity, and self-efficacy and the mathematical reasoning ability of senior high school students. This study was a quantitative ex post facto study. The population comprised all tenth-grade students of senior high school in Brebes District, Indonesia. The sample was 362 students from six schools that were established using the stratified proportional random sampling technique. The data were collected through a test and Likert-scale questionnaires. The data were analyzed using multiple regression and partial correlation analysis. The results showed that mathematical connection ability, curiosity, and self-efficacy, as an aggregate correlated with mathematical reasoning ability, with a contribution of 46,3% obtained by the regression model Y = 0.97 + 0.422X1 + 0.059 X2 + 0.041 X3. The relationship between mathematical connection and mathematical reasoning ability with the contribution of 23.27%. The relationship between curiosity and mathematical reasoning ability with the contribution of 3.59%.  The relationship between self-efficacy and mathematical reasoning ability with the contribution of 1.81%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji dan mendeskripsikan keefektifan model pembelajaran CORE (Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending) ditinjau dari kemampuan koneksi matematis, representasi matematis, dan kepercayaan diri siswa SMP kelas VIII. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan nonequivalen pretest-postest control-group design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 26 Banjarmasin tahun ajaran 2020/2021. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara acak (simple random sampling) sehingga diperoleh kelas VIII B sebagai kelas eksperimen (n = 14) dan kelas VIII D sebagai kelas kontrol (n = 18). Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes kemampuan koneksi matematis, kemampuan representasi matematis, dan angket kepercayaan diri siswa. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif dan inferensial (α = 0,05). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran CORE dengan pendekatan saintifik tidak efektif ditinjau dari kemampuan koneksi matematis, kemampuan representasi matematis, dan kepercayaan diri siswa. Namun demikian, model pembelajaran CORE dengan pendekatan saintifik lebih unggul daripada pembelajaran dengan pendekatan saintifik ditinjau dari kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa.The effectiveness of the CORE learning model in term of mathematical connections skill, mathematical representations skill, and self-confidence of studentsAbstractThis study aimed to examine and describe the effectiveness of the CORE (Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending) learning model in terms of the mathematical connection skills, mathematical representation skills, and self-confidence of eighth-graders. The population was all eight graders of junior high school, namely SMP Negeri 26 Banjarmasin, Indonesia, in the academic year of 2020/2021. Sampling was carried out randomly so that class VIII B was selected as the experimental group (n = 14) and class VIII D as the control group (n = 18). The data was collected through tests of mathematical connection skills, mathematical representation skills, and student’s self-confidence questionnaires. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially (α = 0.05). The results revealed that the CORE learning model with a scientific approach was ineffective in terms of students’ mathematical connection, representation skills, and self-confidence. However, the CORE learning model with a scientific approach was better than the scientific approach learning in terms of students’ connection skills.
