Abstract

Acute Respiratory Tract Infection (ISPA) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality of infectious diseases in the world. Nearly four million people die from ISPA each year, 98% caused by lower respiratory tract infections, and mortality rates are very high in infants, children, and the elderly. One of the causes of the high incidence of ISPA is due to lack of knowledge about ISPA. This can be due to lack of socialization about ISPA, how to prevent ISPA, and how to deal with ISPA. One of the things that can be done to increase knowledge is to provide health education about ISPA. This community service aims to provide education about ISPA disease in the rainy season during the pandemic at Smp Salafiyah Darul Falah Pagutan Mataram City. This activity was attended by 47 students using LCD Projector and leaflets. The method used is by lectures, discussions and practices how to wash hands properly and conduct pre tests and post tests. pretest results of students' level of knowledge about ISPA the most knowledge is less than 24 people (51.0%) while after being given education in the form of health counseling, there was an increase in participants' knowledge to a sufficient level of knowledge as many as 25 people (53.2%). It is hoped that this community service activity can be useful for Smp Salafiyah Darul Falah Pagutan Mataram City.

Abstract

Introduction: Unexpectedly high sea water can cause flooding which can damage, threaten lives and endanger the community, especially residents who live close to the shoreline or coastline. Objective: increase the response capacity of coastal residents to tidal flood disasters. Method: conducting outreach and simulating tidal flood disasters. Results: The average posttest score reached 17.5 out of a maximum score of 20, indicating the success of counseling in increasing respondents' knowledge and preparedness. Conclusion: Increasing community understanding, as reflected in a high average posttest score, can make a significant contribution to increasing community preparedness and adaptation to the risk of tidal floods. Furthermore, efforts are needed to maintain this positive momentum through sustainable programs, collaboration with related parties, and strengthening community participation in mitigation efforts.

Abstract

Abstract. Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are a global health problem with high morbidity and mortality rates, especially in developing countries. One of the government’s efforts to reduce NCD rates is through the establishment of Integrated Counseling Posts (Posbindu) for NCDs, which involve health cadres in the early detection of risk factors. However, cadres' skills in anthropometric and blood pressure examinations remain limited due to a lack of training. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of cadres in early detection of NCDs in Dopang Village, Gunung Sari Subdistrict, West Lombok. The implementation methods included lectures, discussions, and demonstrations of anthropometric examinations (body weight, height, body mass index, waist circumference) and blood pressure measurements using a booklet as a media tool. The activity involved 30 health cadres from 11 villages, with 2-3 cadres representing each village. The results showed that before the training, most cadres had never received assistance related to early detection of NCDs. After counseling and demonstrations, all cadres were able to perform blood pressure and anthropometric examinations according to SOPs, calculate BMI, and record examination results on forms. Cadres’ skills improved along with high enthusiasm and direct assistance from the service team. In conclusion, education and demonstration-based training effectively increased cadres’ capacity in early detection of NCDs, thereby strengthening prevention and control efforts at the community level.
