Abstract

Mawar Youth Integrated Service Post (Posrem Mawar) is located in Ngesrebalong Village, Limbangan District, Kendal, Central Java, which is located on the slopes of Mount Ungaran. Posrem in Ngesrepbalong Village contributed 34 (10.86%) stunted children out of a total of 313 cases in Limbangan Kendal District. The teenage problems that arise are early marriage as many as 37 (6%) in 2021 in the age range 15-18 years, 5 (13.5%) men and 32 women (86.5%), juvenile delinquency such as drinking alcohol, fights between groups/individuals, free sex and theft. Mawar Youth Integrated Service Post activities currently provide health check services and occasionally provide education about adolescent health, but do not yet have structured activity programs. It hasn’t had a youth cadre; the cadres are still affiliated with Toddlers and School-aged Integrated Service Post. This activity was aimed to increase teenagers' knowledge and understanding about reproductive health and prevention of early pregnancy; increasing access to information & getting interesting and interactive education; Helping teenagers make the right decisions about reproductive health; preventing early pregnancy, improving maternal and child health; The realization of quality and comprehensive services.  The active participation of teenagers in discussions shows changes in attitudes and increased commitment to reproductive health and prevention of early pregnancy. Post-activity questionnaire evaluation showed an increase of 12.3% in understanding reproductive health and prevention of early pregnancy for teenagers.

Abstract

The menstrual period is one of the triggers for adolescents to experience anemia, characterized by a decrease in hemoglobin levels. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of combining progressive muscle relaxation and cat stretch exercise in improving hemoglobin levels among adolescent girls, a population at high risk of anemia, particularly during menstruation. This study was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design with two group designs in June-August 2023. Fifty adolescent girls meeting the inclusion criteria were selected using purposive sampling and proportionally divided into two groups, the progressive muscle relaxation and cat stretch exercise combination group, and the walking group. The Point of care testing (examinations carried out near the patient outside the laboratory) method measures adolescent hemoglobin and hemodynamic levels before and after the intervention. The intervention was given for 4 weeks with weekly monitoring. Data were analyzed using the paired t-test and Mann-Whitney test. The combination of progressive muscle relaxation and cat stretch exercise was effective in increasing hemoglobin levels in both groups with an average increase of 0.484 and 0.184 respectively, but there was no difference in average hemoglobin in the two groups after the intervention (p-value 0.011 and 0.004). Physical activity, such as either the combination of PMR and cat stretch exercise or walking, was proven effective in increasing hemoglobin levels. These findings suggest that both methods have the potential to serve as simple and affordable interventions for reducing anemia in adolescent girls during menstruation.

Abstract

Background: Sectio caesarea is an artificial birth method that aims to deliver the baby. This action physically causes pain in the abdominal area due to surgery. Management of this pain can be done through non-pharmacological therapy such as lemon aromatherapy. Objective: To analyze the effect of lemon aromatherapy on pain levels in post-sectio caesarea mothers. Research Method: This type of research is quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test without control design. The research sample was 30 post-sectio caesarea mothers who were determined using the accidental sampling technique. Intervention was given by giving lemon aromatherapy for 30 minutes. Measurement of pain data using the Numerical Rating Scale. Research data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: Giving lemon aromatherapy effectively reduced pain in all research respondents with a p value of 0.000. Conclusion: Lemon aromatherapy therapy can be used as an alternative therapy in handling cases of pain in post-CS mothers.

Abstract

Fine motor skills are a development that requires eye and hand coordination. The impact of late fine motor skills is that children have difficulty coordinating hand and finger movements, decreased academic achievement and are less active. Fine motor stimulation can be done in various ways, one of which is through playing activities with educational game tools such as bombik puzzle and pom-pom. This studwi was to determine the effectiveness of bombik puzzle and pom-pom Educative Game stimulation on the fine motor development of preschool-age children at the Early Childhood Education in Sambiroto Village. This type of research was Quasi Experiment with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population of this study consisted of 50 children. The total sample was 34 children aged 3-4 years, divided into 2, namely 17 children in the bombik puzzle group and 17 children in the pom-pom group, using a purposive sampling technique. Before the bombic puzzle intervention the average was 5.53 and after the intervention it increased to 11.41. Before being given the intervention, the pom-pom average was 6.29 and after being given the intervention it increased to 9.12. The Mann Whitney test results obtained a p-value of 0.014There is a difference in the effectiveness of bombik puzzle and pom-pom stimulation where bombik puzzle stimulation is more effective than pom-pom in improving fine motor development of preschoolers.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea refers to painful menstruation which appears in the luteal phase that could affect productivity and quality of life, while dysmenorrhea in adolescents can reduce the concentration of learning. Muscle relaxation therapy is a non-pharmacological treatment that is effective, efficient and simple therapy as an treatment of dysmenorrhea. This study was to determine whether the muscle relaxation therapy reduces for dysmenorrhea in adolescents. This study was conducted in May until September 2017 at Karya Husada Science Health College . This design was true experimental with randomized pretest posttest design. Dysmenorrhea screening using ACOG diagnostic criteria, in 207 female students to determine the prevalence of dysmenorrhea and it’s symptoms was recorded in the diary records symptom. Students with dysmenorrhea were divided into a control group (n=30) and an experimental group (n=30). Students in control group received deep breathing relaxation therapy and those in experimental group received muscle relaxation therapy. The intensity of pain, blood pressure, respiration and pulse were measured 15 minutes before being given treatment and would be measured again at 15 minutes after giving the treatment during menstrual pain. Instruments used Numerical Rating Scale. Result: Pain intensity before and after intervention in intervention and control group were 5,53 ± 1,167 vs 4,17 ± 1,053, P = 0,000 and 4,47 ± 1,358 vs 3,87 ± 1,96, P = 0,000 . Test paired t-test and Wilcoxon test to see changes in systolic, diastolic and respiratory pressure changes of pulse before and after relaxation. Comparison of the effects of muscle relaxation and deep breathing relaxation with P <0.05 (0.002) with Mann Whitney test. Muscle relaxation therapy was effective in reducing the intensity of menstrual pain or dysmenorrhea in adolescents.

Abstract

Background: Stunting became a chronic malnutrition issue that illustrates a growth failure. The prevalence of stunting is around 31-35%, which Demak contributes to 6,82% of children under five with stunting.Purpose: The major aim of the study was to determine the relationship between environmental sanitation with stunting. Methods: The study design used a cross-sectional community-based survey. The population was 32 mothers with stunting children under five years, and there were 30 wholes who were eligible for inclusion criteria. Data were collected by proportional random sampling, and data analysis performed a descriptive analysis dan chi-square test. Results: Environmental sanitation contributes to stunting (p=0,002 < 0,005). This study found that environmental sanitation such as water and house characteristics, and domestic waste disposal have significant factors leading to stunting. Conclusion: Good water, sanitation, and hygiene practice are related to stunting. The mother and family needily to keep a healthy environment to prevent stunts. Â
