Abstract

Natural potential is the main attraction in the tourist activity, including the physical nature, fauna and flora. The existence of Sungai Sampuren Putih region is widely known as one of the tourist destinations in the District of Sibolangit Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of water quality on the level of visits and tourism potential of the river as well as assess the perceptions of visitors and the management of the activities of Sungai Sampuren Putih. This study was conducted over three months are May to July 2016. Data analysis using Water Quality Parameters and questionnaire. Sungai Sampuren Putih water quality through water chemistry to measure physical parameters Sampuren River White stated that I belong lightly polluted station that is 1.92 while the station II and III stations classified as good, namely 0.83 and 0.72. Value 90% comfort level visitors expressed comfortable. Judging of the appeal because the rocks 65,06%. White Sampuren river has good tourism potential, it can be seen from the results of interviews and questionnaires.Keywords: Water Quality, Traffic People, River Tourism Zone, Deli Serdang

Abstract

The objective of the research was to know the kinds of fish species and growth pattern of fish that was caught at the River Seruai, Namo Suro Village, Deli Serdang District of North Sumatera Province. The research was conducted by using field survey method on November to December, 2016. Parameters measured were length and weight of fish, condition factor, gonad maturity and water quality. Based on the research found four fish species i.e Baung (Mystus nemurus), Cencen (Mystacoleucus marginatus), Nila (Oreochromis niloticus), and Sibaro (Hampala macrolepidota). All of the fish had a negative allometric growth pattern. The highest value of condition factor found in Cencen fish (1,007) and the lowest value obtained in Sibaro fish (0,001). The correltion of Length and weight of all fish species was very strong wih correlation coefficient (R) and determinant coefficient (R2) approximately to value of 1.Keywords: Fish Species, Growth Pattern, River Serui, Deli Serdang.

Abstract

Phytoplankton in aquatic coastal ecosystems play a major role in the food chain. This is because the role of Phytoplankton as producen in the waters of other organisms that can be used include fish. The existence of Phytoplankton in the waters is largely determined by the physicaland chemical condition of the water. Phytoplankton have a certain tolerance limits to environmental parameters so that diversity will be different. The research was conducted from April to May 2016. Samples were taken from three observation stations, at each station observations were made three replications. Sampling point is determined using purposive random sampling method.Total abudance of phytoplankton at station 1 as many as 11.400 cell/l, which consists of 16 genera, abudance of phytoplankton at statiun 2 as many 39.050 cell/l which consists of 10 genera, and abudance of phytoplankton at statiun 3 as many 48.900 cell/l which consists of 18 genera.Pearson correlation analysis phospate, nitrate, DO, and brightness was positibelly correlated with the diversity of phytoplankton while the temperature, pH, and salinity were negatively correlated with the diversity of phytoplankton.Keywords : Phytoplankton, Percut Sei Tuan River, diversity

Abstract

River is one of the water source which is very important for people because it can serve as a source of drinking water, and environmental sevices also as tourist attractions. This research was conducted on May-June 2017 at Babarsari River Kutalimbaru District of Deli Serdang Regency, it’s to analyz the influence of community activity on water quality of Babarsari river and to describe perception of visitor and manager on Babarsari tourism. The parameters observed were temperature, brightness, flow Rate, DO, pH, BOD5, N, P and total coliform. The results showed that according to Government Regulation No. 82/2001 and STORET rating system at stations 1 and 2 it categorized in class A (Very good) by fulfilling the Quality Standard, while Station 3 and 4 werecontaminated in medium condition with scores of -25 and -17. Perception of visitors to Babarsari tourism amounted to 75.6% stated Comfort and beauty level of 79.1% entered in the beautiful category. There are 5 managers or 100% who handle the garbage by stacked and then burned, there is a ban for visitors littering in order to maintain cleanliness of the area.Kata kunci : water quality, human activities, quality standart, Babarsari rivers

Abstract

River Seruai is one of the rivers in Deli Serdang District of North Sumatera, that has been polluted by human activities. Pollution that occurs can caused the decreased of river water quality. This study aimed to identify the suitability of water quality of River Seruai for freshwater aquaculture in order to improve fish farming in the river. The study was conducted from May 2017 to July 2017 along the River Seruai of Deli Serdang District of North Sumatra Province. The measurement of water quality parameters was done at 3 (three) stations. Based on the plankton abundance, it still be stated that the Seruai River was still support for fish farming activities because the river has plankton which was a source of natural food for aquaculture fish although the number is relatively low ie average 47.25 cells/liter. Scores of water quality parameter of River Seruai based on Standard Quality PP No. 82 of 2001 that the scor of 1st station = 0, score of 2nd = -2 and score of 3rd station = -2. The status of the water quality of each station I is in accordance with the quality standard, the 2nd and 3rd station is lightly contaminated. The overall status of River Seruai Water Quality has a score = 0. Based on PP No. 82 of 2001 it can be concluded that the waters were suitable for freshwater fish farming activities.Keyword : Water Quality, Aquaculture, River Seruai, Deli Serdang

Abstract

Catfish (Pangasius sp) is the most widely cultured fish in the aquaculture activities. One problem in fish culture is disease caused by bacteria. Fish samples were taken from Tanjung Anom district. The aim of this study was to know the potensial bacterial pathogens that cause infection in catfish.This study was held from July to August 2017 in BKIPM Laboratory of Class I Medan I. The isolation and characterization of bacterial pathogen of the catfish was performed by using dilution method and spread method. The organs target for isolation of pathogenic bacteria were kidney, liver and water. The result showed that Aeromonas salmonicida, Aeromonas sobria, Aeromonas caviae and Yersenia sp. were found as potential pathogenic bacteria.Keywords : Pangasius sp, Aquaculture pond, Bacterial Pathogens

Abstract

Community activity gives influence to ecosystem condition in river estuary area in Desa Pintu Air and potentially affect water quality, characteristic and sedimentation rate, and abundance of marine biota especially macrozoobenthos. The study was conducted from May to July 2017 at Pintu Air Village, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra Province. The study was conducted by purposive sampling. The result showed that sedimentation rate in Desa Pintu Air estuary Station I was 3491,98 gr/ m2/day, Station II was 389,10 gr/m2/day, Station III was 369,15 gr/m2/day, Station IV equal to 1576,14 gr/m2/day, and Station V was 5353,51 gr/m2/day. Abundance of macrozoobenthos in Station I was 18 ind/m2 Station II of 17 ind/m2, Station III was 13 ind/m2, Station IV was 22 ind/m2 and Station V was 7 ind/m2 . The value of Diversity Index (H ') Station I was 4,08 Station II was 4,65 Station III was 4,83 Station IV was 5,12 and Station V was 4,07. Dominance index (C) Station I was 1,01 Station II was 0,32 Station III was 0,47 Station IV was 0,49 and Station V was 0,77. The value of sedimentation correlation to macrozoobentos abundance was -0,509, sedimentation correlation value to macrozoobentos diversity was -0.822, and the value of sedimentation correlation to macrozoobentos dominance was 0.850.Keywords : Sedimentation, Macrozoobenthos, Estuary

Abstract

Mantis Shrimp (Oratosquilla gravieri) is one of the water resources that has highly economic potential but in the waters of the Sei Tuan has not been optimally utilized. The research of morphometrics and meristir were used for identification, growth model analysis, and management efforts for Mantis Shrimp resourse. The research was conducted in December 2017 in the seawaters of the Percut Sei Tuan. Catching of shrimp was conducted on 3 stations with a total sample of 90 shrimps. The length of Mantis Shrimp that caught during the study was 8.10 cm to 16.9 cm. Correlation between morphometric characters is very strong with correlation coefficient (r) ranged from 0.774 to 0.992. In Mantis Shrimp meristic was obtained 4 to 6 pieces of thorns on telson, 6 thorns on dactylus and 0 to 2 thorns on propodus. Mantis Shrimp growth pattern in Percut water was negative allometric with b value ranged from 2.212 to 2.326 (b <3).Keywords : Morphometrics, Meristics, Water Quality, Mantis Shrimp, Percut Sei Tuan

Abstract

Pantai Labu merupakan daerah yang terletak di Kabupaten Deli Serdang dan dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat untuk penangkapan ikan menggunakan kapal, pemukiman serta aktivitas wisata. Adanya aktivitas tersebut diduga menyebabkan penurunan kualitas lingkungan mangrove yang berada di Pantai Labu. Nitrat dan Fosfat merupakan nutrien utama yang menentukan kestabilan pertumbuhan vegetasi mangrove. Akibat penurunan kualitas lingkungan, maka akan mempengaruhi distribusi nitrat dan fosfat yang dapat mempengaruhi pertumbuhan mangrove tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan nitrat dan fosfat di substrat mangrove serta keterkaitannya dengan kerapatan mangrove. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan September-Oktober 2019 dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling pada 5 titik stasiun. Hasil penelitian didapatkan nilai total kerapatan mangrove untuk tingkat pohon yaitu 2,89 Ind/m2,untuk tingkat pancang 1,75 Ind/m2 dan untuk tingkat semai 0,1 Ind/m2. Kandungan nitrat dalam sedimen berkisar antara 0,7-1,11 mg/kg dan kandungan fosfat dalam sedimen berkisar antara 2,5-2,8 mg/kg. Kandungan nitrat di subtrat yang didapatkan dalam penelitian ini termasuk ke dalam kategori rendah. Kandungan fosfat di subtrat yang didapatkan dalam penelitian ini termasuk ke dalam kategori rendah. Keterkaitan nitrat dengan kerapatan mangrove yang didapatkan sebesar 98% yang berarti nitrat memiliki pengaruh yang sangat besar dengan kerapatan mangrove, sedangkan keterkaitan fosfat dengan kerapatan mangrove yang didapatkan adalah sebesar 20% yang berarti fosfat memiliki pengaruh yang kecil (sedikit) dengan kerapatan mangrove.Pantai Labu is an area located in Deli Serdang Regency which is used by the people for fishing using ships, settlements and tourist activities. The existence of these activities is thought to cause a decrease in the quality of the mangrove environment on Pantai Labu. Nitrate and Phosphate are the main nutrients that determine the stability of mangrove vegetation growth. As a result of environmental degradation, it will affect the distribution of nitrates and phosphates which can affect the growth of mangroves. This study aims to figure out the nitrate and phosphate content in the mangrove substrate and its relation to the density of the mangrove. This research was conducted in September-October 2019 using a purposive sampling method at 5 station points. The results obtained total value of mangrove density for tree level is 2.89 Ind/m2, for the sapling level 1.75 Ind/m2 and for seedling level 0.1 Ind/m2. Nitrate content in sediments ranged from 0.7-1.11 mg/kg and phosphate content in sediments ranged from 2.5-2.8 mg/kg. The nitrate and phosphate content in the substrate obtained in this study was the low category. Result of statistical analysis of the relationship between nitrate and mangrove density was 98%, which means that nitrate had a very big effect on mangrove density, while the relationship between phosphate and mangrove density was 20%, which meant that phosphate had a small effect (a little) with mangrove density.

Abstract

Sembilan Island was one of the 17 islands located in the East Coast of North Sumatra. This island is surrounded by mangrove with varying thickness and density. Information on the identification and potential of mangrove in this island already reported but limited to a narrow area. Information about the value and status of mangrove ecology in this island have not been written, so it was needed to carry out for a study of mangrove ecological analysis. This information could be used later as a reference in sustainable mangrove management. The objective of the study was to determine the value and ecological status of mangroves. The research was conducted in September 2015. The data were collected at 9 sampling points namely; 4 points in the east, 2 points in the south and 3 points in the west part of the study areas. The spot check method was used in the study. The results showed that there were 28 species of mangrove belonging to 13 families. It's divided into  26 species of true mangrove and two species of associated mangroves. Mangrove’s zonation was Avicennia/Sonneratia on the front and ferns (A. Aureum and A. speciosum) in the section near the mainland. Mangrove thickness reached 134 - 1683 m. The density of mangrove was 333 - 4601 individuals/ha with the cover area of 2522 - 5810 cm2/ha. The results of the importance index value of mangrove showed that A. marina has a great influence and role in the community of mangrove vegetation, especially in the eastern part. Therefore, the mangrove in Sembilan Island was categorized into damage to good condition. The good category was recorded in the western part of the island, while the damaged category was found in the east part of the island.Pulau Sembilan merupakan satu diantara 17 pulau yang terdapat di wilayah Pantai Timur Sumatera Utara. Hampir sepanjang pantai di Pulau Sembilan di tumbuhi oleh mangrove dengan ketebalan yang bervariasi. Informasi tentang identifikasi dan potensi mangrove di Pulau Sembilan sudah ada dilaporkan, namun terbatas pada areal yang sempit. Informasi tentang nilai dan status ekologi mangrove di Pulau Sembilan belum dilaporkan, sehingga perlu adanya kajian tentang analisis ekologi mangrove. Informasi ini nantinya dapat dijadikan sebagai acuan dalam pengelolaan mangrove yang berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai dan status ekologis mangrove di Pulau Sembilan. Lokasi penelitian dibagi menjadi tiga area dengan 9 titik pengamatan yaitu timur 4 titik, selatan 2 titik, dan barat 3 titik. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada September 2015. Pengambilan contoh mangrove, dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode spot check. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa jenis mangrove yang sebanyak 28 jenis dari 13 famili yang terdiri dari 26 jenis mangrove sejati dan 2 jenis mangrove ikutan. Zonasi mangrove di Pulau Sembilan yaitu, Avicennia/Sonneratia pada bagian depan dan paku-pakuan (A. Aureum dan A. speciosum) pada bagian yang dekat daratan. Ketebalan mangrove mencapai 134 - 1683 m. Kerapatan mangrove yang ditemukan mencapai 333 - 4601 ind/ha. Penutupan mangrove mencapai 2522 - 5810 cm2/ha. Hasil analisis nilai penting jenis mangrove di Pulau Sembilan menunjukkan bahwa A. marina memiliki pengaruh dan peran yang besar dalam komunitas vegetasi mangrove, terutama pada bagian timur. Mangrove di Pulau Sembilan termasuk kategori rusak - baik. Kategori baik pada bagian barat dan rusak pada bagian timur.
