Abstract

Gastronomy is not only related to food, but also encompasses cultural values, history, local identity, and community creativity. In the context of creative city development, gastronomy is considered a strategic sector as it can stimulate local economic growth, strengthen regional identity, and support sustainable tourism. Salatiga, a small city known as a "mini city," has a diverse range of legendary culinary traditions, including ten locally recognized culinary heritage items. This research aims to analyze the processes and mechanisms of collaborative governance in promoting Salatiga’s culinary sector as a sustainable tourist attraction. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and literature studies related to creative city development policies and programs. The results indicate that the development of the gastronomic sector in Salatiga is supported by collaboration among government bodies, academics, business actors, communities, and the private sector. Several strategic policies have been implemented, such as the recognition of local culinary specialties as intangible cultural heritage, culinary innovation training for business actors, and the integration of gastronomy into the basic education curriculum. However, the implementation of collaborative governance faces several challenges, including suboptimal cross-sector coordination and a limited public understanding of gastronomy. This study concludes that collaborative governance plays a key role in the development of Salatiga as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. The success of this approach is reflected in the ASEAN Sustainable Tourism Award 2024 and the formal recognition of culinary heritage, which enhances Salatiga’s global competitiveness.

Abstract

Stunting can also be caused by problems with nutritional intake consumed during pregnancy and toddlerhood. Lack of maternal knowledge about health and nutrition before pregnancy, as well as the postpartum period, limited health services such as antenatal services, and postnatal services low access to nutritious food, and low access to sanitation and clean water are also causes of stunting. These very diverse multi-factors require the most decisive intervention, namely at 1000 HPK (the first 1000 days of life). Factors Causing stunting are also influenced by the mother's work, father's height, mother's height, income, number of household members, parenting, and exclusive breastfeeding, besides stunting is also caused by several other factors such as maternal education, maternal knowledge about nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, MP-ASI age, zinc, and iron adequacy levels, history of infectious diseases and genetic factors. Bappeda serves as the primary sector, capable of coordinating the entire element. The study aims to 1) describe the stunting dynamics in Maluku Province, 2) describe the implementation of stunting convergence in Maluku Province, and 3) structurally analyze the role of Bappeda in stunting conversion action in Maluku Province using Anthony Giddens' structure theory. This type of research is qualitative descriptive and interviews are used to gather data. The results of this study show that the prevalence rate of stunting in Maluku Province in 2022 reached 26.1%, which means that the rate of prevalence of stopping in 2022 has decreased amounted to 2.6% of SSGI's results in 2021 which reached 28.7%. Bappeda as a sector leader in the implementation of convergence plays a role as a planner and director, as well as as a coordinator and facilitator in facilitating the achievement of the goal of preventing increased stunting cases. Bappeda strives for synergistic collaboration across actors and sectors, especially in massive comprehensive education and advocacy in districts/cities to implement their respective work programs more effectively and efficiently.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of China’s interest in the Laos Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone (GTSEZ) through the geopolitical perspective of Nicholas Spykman. The development of the Laos GTSEZ in the border area between Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar represent not only an economic project but also a strategic instrument for expanding China’s geopolitical influence in Southeast Asia. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-explanatory approach. The result indicates that the development of the Laos GTSEZ carries a dual dimension, functioning both as an economic project and as a geopolitical instrument. From Spykman’s geopolitical perspective, the Laos GTSEZ reflects China’s strategy to dominate the Southeast Asian rimland as part of its effort to maintain and expand its global influence. Therefore, the establishment of the Laos GTSEZ has implications not only for regional economic growth but also for shifting geopolitical power in Southeast Asia.

Abstract

The European Union's awareness of the importance of forest protection and conservation has led to the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which strictly regulates trade in commodities and products that contribute significantly to deforestation and forest degradation. In response to the establishment of this regulation, objections were raised by producer countries of related commodities and products, including Brazil, Ghana, and Indonesia. Therefore, this study will examine the responses and adaptation processes of Brazil, Ghana, and Indonesia to the implementation of the EUDR and analyze the handling of global deforestation through the EUDR from the perspective of Robyn Eckersley's green theory. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques through a literature review of various relevant studies. PEST analysis is used to review the political, economic, social, and technological impacts of the EUDR on producing countries. The results show that Brazil, Ghana, and Indonesia have adopted national approaches in preparing for EUDR implementation. The establishment of the EUDR is a commendable innovation in minimizing environmental damage through binding regulations; however, it is insufficient in reducing global deforestation rates, as these regulations only control access to the European Union market. Examining the EUDR from the perspective of green theory reveals that these regulations remain predominantly human-centric, and their formation process is not ideal based on the fundamental aspects outlined in green theory. Reviewing the impact of the EUDR on political, economic, social, and technological aspects in producer countries underscores the need for EU support for these countries, given the various challenges they face in the adaptation process, even though this regulation encourages more sustainable agricultural practices.

Abstract

This article discusses the roles of the government and the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) in handling severe human rights violation cases in Paniai, Papua. The purpose of this article is to determine whether the National Commission on Human Rights handled the severe human rights violations in Paniai optimally. The article employs a qualitative research method as a research procedure that generates descriptive data in the form of written or oral words from individuals or things observed. For gathering information, interviews were used along with different types of literature, like journals, to look at the steps that the National Commission on Human Rights took and news stories from different media outlets about how they dealt with serious human rights violations in Paniai. This article uses the theory of institutional and institutional roles to examine the roles played by the National Commission on Human Rights. The research findings indicate that handling the severe human rights violation cases in Paniai creates problematic situations between the government and civilians. First, the National Commission on Human Rights attempts to adapt to external and social expectations. Second, the formation of an order between the majority and minority in the uniformity pattern of witness elements during the investigation stage conducted by the Attorney General. Other challenges include the back-and-forth return of investigation files, which hinders the process of handling the Paniai case by the National Commission on Human Rights.
