Abstract

Hasil penelitian didapat lima isolat cendawan DSE, yaitu isolat II 3 A CM, Gelap A, II 4 CM, II 3 A CC, dan abu-abu.

Abstract

Phosphate (P) nutrient plays a significant role in plant growth and yield. P is an essential element that plays an important role in photosynthesis and root development. Phosphate nutrient availability is deficient in some soil types due to retention, such as in Andisol soil types. High phosphate retention in Andisol soil types causes P nutrients to be unavailable to plants and can reduce crop yields. The availability of P in Andisol soils can be done, among others, by applying phosphate solubilizing microbes. Phosphate solubilizing microorganisms are soil microorganisms consisting of bacteria and fungi that can mineralize organic P, dissolve inorganic P minerals, and store large amounts of P to make it available to plants. This literature review aims to determine the mechanism of phosphate-solubilizing microbes in P dissolution in Andisol soil. The methods used in this systematic review are collecting data through the internet and utilizing recognized sources such as Science Direct, Research Gate, Google Scholar, and Web of Science. Content analysis was performed on the collected data, and the results were organized into thematic categories. Furthermore, the findings are presented descriptively with the help of tables to facilitate understanding. Since phosphate-solubilizing microorganisms can dissolve P in the soil through chemical and biological mechanisms, it can be concluded that phosphate-solubilizing microorganisms also have an important role in the soil P cycle. The implications of this literature review are to understand the retention of P nutrients in Andisols and how the dissolution mechanism works, as well as the use of microbes as a solution to increase phosphate dissolution so that it is available to plants.

Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to assess how red chili plants (Capsicum annuum L.) develop and react biochemically to drought stress, as well as how cytokinin treatment affects these plants. The study employed a factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK) with three replications and two components, namely the degree of drought with three stages, comprising: K1 has an 80% soil water content, K2 has a 60% soil water content, K3 has a 40% soil water content, and S0, S1, S2, and S3 have 0 ppm, 10 ppm, 20 ppm, and 30 ppm of 6-benzylaminopurine concentration, respectively. Plant height, leaf count, root length, flowering age, total and aqueous chlorophyll content, activity of antioxidant enzymes (e.g., superoxide dismutase and peroxide dismutase), and hydrogen peroxide as a signal for plant molecules against dehydration stress are among the parameters assessed. The findings demonstrated that red chili plants under drought stress experienced slower growth, as seen by a reduction in height and leaf count as well as earlier flowering. However, by raising plant height, leaf count, and chlorophyll levels (a, b, and total), cytokinin treatment was able to lessen the deleterious impacts of drought. When treated with 10 ppm 6-Benzylaminopurine, the enzyme activity of superoxide dismutase, peroxide dismutase, and hydrogen peroxide increased, but at other dosages, it tended to decrease, suggesting a slight but noticeable increase in plant defense mechanisms against oxidative stress. Therefore, giving red chili plants 10 parts per million of cytokinin may be a useful tactic for enhancing their resistance to drought stress.

Abstract

One of the main obstacles in providing quality potato seed tubers is the long dormancy period of the potato seeds. A study that explores this has been carried out to elucidate the response of dormancy release and initiation of potato sprouts to the differences in tuber weight and storage duration before immersion in cytokinin (6-benzylaminopurine). The study was conducted at the seed warehouse UPT Horticulture Parent Seed Kutagadung Berastagi, Department of Food and Horticulture of North Sumatra Province, from November 2018 to January 2019. The research was carried out with a factorial completely randomized design with two factors, namely (i) tuber weight, consisting of 4 levels [25-35 g, 55-65 g, 85-95g, and 115-125 g]; and (ii) tuber storage duration before immersion in 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) solution, consisting of 5 levels [control (without immersion), 1, 15, 30, and 45 days after harvest]. Tuber weight, storage duration before immersion, and the interaction of the two factors showed significant effects in dormancy breaking time, germination percentage, germination rate, number of sprouts, and length of sprouts. The number and length of the sprouts increased with the increasing tuber weight and storage duration before immersion in BAP. Keywords: cytokinin, germination, Solanum tuberosum L., tuber seeds
