Abstract

Perkebunan sawit telah menjadi perkebunan terbesar di Indonesia, salah satunya terdapat di Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Berdasarkan data Badan Pusat Statistik Provinsi Sumatera Utara menyatakan bahwa luas areal perkebunan kelapa sawit tahun 2016 adalah 417.809 ha dengan produksi TBS mencapai 5.775.631,82 ton, dan akan dihasilkan limbah Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit (TKKS) sebesar 23.250 ton/hari pada PKS berkapasitas 50 ton/jam. Material organik baik berupa limbah padat kelapa sawit sangat banyak tersedia dan belum dimanfaatkan secara maksimal. Bahan-bahan tersebut dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan biodegradable polybag yang  dapat digunakan sebagai media tanam untuk bibit tanaman semusim maupun tahunan. Penggunaan biodegradable polybag ini merupakan sebuah solusi dalam mengatasi  permasalahan lingkungan seperti akumulasi polybag plastik setelah pembibitan dan menghambat pertumbuhan tanaman akibat pelepasan polybag yang salah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memodifikasi polybag organik yang telah dikembangkan sebelumnya dengan bahan utama limbah TKKS dan pelepah kelapa sawit, serta menentukan komposisi terbaik dari bahan baku tersebut dan melakukan pengujian kualitas sesuai dengan standar mutu kompos SNI. Kata kunci; Biodegradable Polybag, TKKS, Pelepah, Sifat Mekanik

Abstract

Secara umum, persyaratan untuk menanam kelapa sawit pada ketinggian   0-400 m di atas permukaan laut. Tingginya permintaan Minyak Sawit Mentah di pasar internasional telah menyebabkan pemerintah memperluas perkebunan kelapa sawit ke ketinggian tinggi. Budidaya kelapa sawit di dataran tinggi akan mempengaruhi tingkat produksi dan produktivitas. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Perkebunan Bah Birong Ulu PT. Perkebunan Nusantara IV dari Januari hingga September 2019. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) produktivitas kelapa sawit tertinggi pada 2017 adalah 1.280 ton/ha/tahun dan produktivitas terendah pada 2015 adalah 1.071 ton/ha/tahun. (2) Realisasi produksi untuk TBS kelapa sawit dan RJT lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan potensi produksi. Padahal realisasi produksi untuk RBT lebih tinggi jika dibandingkan dengan potensi produksi.

Abstract

Dalam rangka menghadapi era new normal ini, kami melakukan kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat berupa penyuluhan pembuatan Pupuk Organik Cair berbasis Sabut Kelapa. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan masyarakat dalam memanfaatkan limbah Sabut Kelapa yg tidak terpakai. Metode yang digunakan dalam pembuatan Pupuk Organik Cair dari Sabut Kelapa ini yaitu sistem fermentasi dengan menggunakan air 100 liter dan Campuran EM4 dengan perpaduan gula merah. Pertama yg perlu di lakukan adalah persiapan alat dan bahan, Selanjutnya siapkan air dengan Volume 100 liter, masukkan 10 kg Sabut Kelapa yg sudah di iris-iris, kemudian Larutkan gula merah ke dalam Larutan EM4 berkisar 300 ml, campurkan larutan EM4 tersebut ke dalam air yg sudah berisikan sabut kelapa, tutup toples hingga waktu yg sudah di tentukan yaitu 14 hari. Setelah fermentasi selama 7 hari buka tutup toples, coba di hirup apakah tercium aroma tape yg menandakan bahwa fermentasi tersebut berhasil di lakukan. yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini yaitu berupa satu produk pupuk organik cair berbasis sabut kelapa yg bertujuan untuk mengurangi limbah rumah tangga.

Abstract

Penelitian dilaksanakan di kebun ITSI Medan. Waktu penelitian dilaksanakan bulan Februari - Agustus 2020. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Faktorial dengan  perlakuan POC daun lamtoro dan POC kulit jeruk. Jumlah polibag per perlakuan adalah 4. Pengujian parameter disusun pada daftar sidik ragam dan dilakukan uji Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) dengan taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian  POC daun lamtoro menunjukkan pengaruh yang nyata pada parameter tinggi tanaman 10 MST - 14 MST  dengan hasil terbaik terdapat pada perlakuan L3 (750 ml) dengan peningkatan tinggi tanaman masing-masing 10 MST (52,08 cm), 12 MST (56,35 cm), 14 MST (63,84 cm). Pemberian POC kulit jeruk menunjukkan pengaruh yang tidak nyata terhadap pertumbuhan vegetatif bibit kelapa sawit pada semua parameter pengamatan. Interaksi antara perlakuan POC daun lamtoro dan POC kulit jeruk menunjukkan pengaruh yang tidak nyata terhadap pertumbuhan vegetatif bibit kelapa sawit pada semua parameter pengamatan

Abstract

This final project research was conducted at the Kuala Pesilam Balai Gajah estate, Division I, PT. Bahruny, North Sumatra Province. This study took place from July to July 2021. This study aims to determine the pattern of weed control in the circle on production as well as rainfall and rainy days. This study uses a descriptive method by collecting secondary data from the garden: rainfall and production data. The results of this study can indicate that Indonesia's unstable palm oil production is caused by several factors, namely genetic factors, biotic factors (weeds) and abiotic factors (rainfall and rainy days). Production in 2020 is the highest production of oil palm for 4 years (2017-2020) with a total production of 5,971,760 Kilograms with an area of 336.96 hectares. The amount of rainfall is 2371 mm and rainy days is 117 days with weed control patterns on the disk carried out 4 times a year. Production in 2018 was the lowest production of oil palm for 4 years (2016-2020) with a total production of 4,032,338 kg, with an area of 267.96 Ha. The amount of rainfall is 1854 mm and rainy days is 112 rainy days with weed control patterns on the disc 2 times a year. The optimal rainfall for the growth and production of oil palm plants is 2,000 mm, but with 1846 mm of rainfall it does not mean it is not good for the growth and production of oil palm plants as long as there is no water deficit, so this rainfall is still included in the criteria for growing oil palm. Production in 2018 was the lowest production of oil palm for 4 years (2016-2020) with a total production of 4,032,338 kg, with an area of 267.96 Ha. Abstract

This community service activity is carried out with the aim of helping partners increase the added value and achieve zero waste from the empty fruit bunch waste produced by the Adolina PTPN IV palm oil mill. The increase in added value of empty fruit bunch waste from palm oil is achieved by processing it into biochar, as it has been proven to be one of the soil amendment technologies for sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices. This community service activity was carried out by initially producing biochar by a team of service providers consisting of lecturers and ITSI students, using raw materials obtained from the Adolina PTPN IV factory. After the biochar product was completed, the research results were disseminated as a practical product by directly applying it in the Adolina palm oil plantation area. This community service activity was carried out using methods of socialization, education, and evaluation for partners about biochar and its application in the Adolina plantation. The partners feel very happy and grateful for this activity as they gained new information and added practical skills about alternative uses of biochar as an organic fertilizer that can enhance soil fertility and improve the quality of the plants (oil palm fruits) produced. Partners also provided input to continue working together in enhancing the capacity of human resources and institutions through research and community service collaborations, so that it can be more optimal and extensive in deepening the application of appropriate technology in plantation lands, potentially leading to commercialization products that can benefit both parties..

Abstract

Desa Kelapa Bajohom merupakan salah satu desa yang terletak di Kecamatan Serbajadi, Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai. Desa ini memiliki potensi dalam sektor perkebunan terutama dalam produksi kelapa santan. Besarnya produksi kelapa santan berbanding lurus dengan jumlah limbah perkebunan yang dihasilkan, salah satunya yaitu limbah tempurung kelapa. Limbah tempurung kelapa yang terdapat di Desa Kelapa Bajohom belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Hal ini terjadi karena minimnya kesadaran, pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat untuk mengelolah limbah tersebut. Tempurung kelapa merupakan biomassa yang dapat diolah menjadi briket arang. Sehingga, pengabdian melalui pelatihan pemanfaatan limbah tempurung kelapa menjadi briket arang di desa Kelapa Bajohom ini perlu diselenggarakan. Bahan yang digunakan antara lain tempurung kelapa, minyak tanah, tepung kanji, air. Alat yang digunakan korek api, lesung, baskom, saringan/ayakan, cetakan briket, wajan, kompor, pisau, ember. Teknik pembuatan briket sangat mudah, murah dan cepat. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah melalui sosialisasi dan langsung praktek. Hasil yang didapat dari terselenggaranya pengabdian ini adalah meningkatnya kesadaran, pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat Desa Kelapa Bajohom dalam hal ini pemanfaatan limbah tempurung kelapa beserta tatacara proses pembuatan briket arang yang memiliki nilai jual.

Abstract

The use of inorganic pesticides to control pests and diseases in oil palm plants remains the primary choice for most farmers. However, the continuous use of chemical pesticides in large quantities can have negative impacts, both on human health and environmental sustainability. Based on these problems, a Community Service (PKM) program was conducted in Pekan Sawah Village, Sei Bingai District, Langkat Regency, which aims to empower the community through waste utilization and environmental management to achieve sustainable agriculture. The main activities of this program include the production of natural biopesticides based on bandotan leaves (Ageratum conyzoides), as well as the utilization of agricultural waste such as corn cobs and oil palm fronds into environmentally friendly briquettes. Through this activity, farmers are equipped with knowledge and practical skills to reduce dependence on chemical pesticides and fossil-based fuels. Thus, it is hoped that farmers will be able to reduce production costs, increase efficiency, and maintain health and environmental sustainability. The PKM activity was held on July 31, 2025, at the Pekan Sawah Village Office, with a total of 35 farmers participating. Throughout the program, community enthusiasm was evident. Farmers not only actively participated in the extension sessions but also demonstrated the biopesticide and briquette-making techniques taught. This demonstrated that the innovations introduced were easy to implement and relevant to their needs. The results demonstrated that the program not only provided practical solutions to reduce the impact of inorganic pesticide use but also increased farmer awareness of waste management. Furthermore, this PKM has the potential to improve community economic and social well-being, while simultaneously encouraging the creation of a more environmentally friendly and sustainable agricultural system.

Abstract

Waste is a problem in various big cities, one of which is Medan City. Organic waste that is wet and causes foul odor needs to be dealt with quickly. One method of managing organic waste is by processing it into compost. Compost made from organic waste is very easy because it does not require a large area, a lot of equipment and costs. This community service activity aims to empower housewives through education and composting trials as an independent alternative for them to overcome household waste that can be used to make organic fertilizer that can be used alone or sold for a source of household income. The activity was carried out by the Institut Teknologi Sawit Indonesia team consisting of lecturers and students together with partners, namely housewives in Batang Kuis Village, Deli Serdang, totaling 75 people. Activities were carried out in June 2024. The method implemented in this empowerment program is a participatory method starting from education and socialization, practical application of composting, and monitoring of fermentation results while stimulating partners to be able to process waste independently which has the opportunity to produce products of economic value to increase family income. The results of this service activity achieved a score of 97% because the team succeeded in educating partners and motivating them to process waste using the composting method and reduce the burning process or piling up garbage waiting for the janitor to pick up the garbage. This activity is expected to continue for partners by continuing to provide assistance to housewives in Batang Kuis Village so that it becomes a partner business unit to increase family income.
