Abstract

One of the ways to prevent generative diseases is by using natural antioxidant compounds. The flavonoid compounds in the flower parts of M. gigantea have a role in antioxidants. Thus the study aimed to test the antioxidant activity and flavonoid levels of M. gigantea flowers. The antioxidant test was carried out by UV-vis spectrophotometry using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and flavonoid assay using 10% aluminum chloride and potassium acetate, both tests using quercetin as a comparison. The results of this test obtained IC50 antioxidants 145,725 ± 3.858 ppm, and flavonoids were 1,860 ± 0.007% w/w eq quercetin. The conclusion from the experiments that have been carried out is that M. gigantea flowers have moderate antioxidant abilities.

Abstract

Osteoarthritis ialah gangguan sendi degeneratif yang ditandai dengan erosi cartilage artikular. Salah satu protein yang mempunyai peran besar dalam penyakit ini adalah caspase sub type 3. Sehingga tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah skrining senyawa belanda yang berpotensi sebagai inhibitor caspase 3. Metode dari penelitian ini menggunakan seanyawa yang terkandung dalam Combretum indicum, data ini kemudian dilakukan docking menggunakan software PLANTS. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah scor docking dari masing masing senyawa yaitu Isatin Sulfonamide -90,8975; Casuariin -92,4942; asquisqualic acid -90,8911; 1-desgalloyleugeniin -100,988; arachidonic acid -63,4613; Punicalin -88,2142; linoleic acid - 97,4111; gallic acid -59,1281; Rutin-95,3717; ellagic acid -63,6793; methyl ursolate -77,5611; flavogallonic acid -80,8221; Quisqualic acid -63,1281; brevifolin carboxylic acid -71,5203; Trigonelline-59,8987; Quercetin -74,4091; quinoline-4-carbonitrile -61,5971; β-sitosterol -87,3881; Pedunculagin-86,843 Lupeol -76,4221; Punicalagin -82,1754; linalool -67,8673; Eugeniin -100,7541.Oleh karena itu senyawa yang berpotensi sebagai inhibitor caspase 3 adalah Rutin, linoleic acid, asquisqualic acid, Eugenin, Casuariin, 1-desgalloyleugeniin.

Abstract

One of the things that causes cell damage in the body is the formation of unpaired electrons, also known as free radicals, which can cause oxidative stress. Excessive oxidative stress is not maintained by the body's natural antioxidants, so natural antioxidants are needed from outside. One of the plants suspected of having antioxidant abilities is Pakis kinca. So, the aim of this study was to determine the levels of flavonoids and antioxidant abilities in the tuber of N. cordifoli. Therefore, the method used to determine flavonoids is by reacting with AlCl3 and reading by UV-vis spectrophotometry, while reacting antioxidants with DPPH using spectrophotometry. The results of the flavonoid test were 3.119 ± 0.09 w/w equivalent to quercetin, from this equation the flavonoid content in the range of the equation was obtained. The results of the antioxidant test obtained the mean value of antioxidants was 93.898 ± 0.923. The conclusion obtained is that the antioxidant IC50 value of tuber extract N. cordifolia is a strong category with a total flavonoid content of 3.119 ± 0.091 w/w equivalent to quercetin.

Abstract

Indicum has 2 variations, especially in terms of flowers, namely elongated and rounded types with antioxidant effects. So the aim of this research is to know the antioxidant of C. Indicum leaves, one of the varieties in Banjar, Banjarbaru and Tanah Laut areas, that variety is C. indicum varr.M. Antioxidant testing using TLC and quantitative using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The antioxidant results qualitatively have antioxidant activity marked by a yellowish white stain. The quantitative test results of Banjar, Banjarbaru and Tanah Laut have 97.2219±0.263 ppm, 50.0832±0.078 ppm and 56.2046±0.185 ppm IC50 values. The results of One Way Anova analysis on the ethanol extract of elongated C. indicum leaves from Banjar, Banjarbaru and Tanah Laut had significant differences between each location and other locations. Based on these results Banjarbaru has the best antioxidants.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the best formulation for the peel-off mask Arachi or peanut (Arachis hypogaea L). Arachis hypogaea kefir as an active ingredient is added with variations in the concentration of F1 (0.5%) and F2 (2%) (w/v). Organoleptic tests, homogeneity, dry time, and pH were carried out on the peel-off mask that had been made. Antioxidant test (DPPH methods) was performed on masks F1 and F2. The results showed that the peel-off mask of A. hypogaea kefir had the best antioxidant activity at a concentration of 2% (F2) kefir with an IC50 value of 1.865 ppm and was very active. The characteristics of the peel-off mask have good physical stability, proven by not experiencing a change in color, odor, being homogeneous, having good dispersion power, and having a dry time ranging from 10-23 minutes. The pH value of the peel-off mask preparation is 4.52, and it is appropriate with SNI and the pH balance of normal human skin. The peel-off mask of A. hypogaea kefir can be produced because has good physical stability and antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Purun Danau (Lepironia articulata (Retz.) Domin) has been shown to have antimalarial and antioxidant activity. This study aimed to standardize simplicia and extract of L. articulata by determining the value of its specific and non-specific parameters. A sampling of L. articulata rhizome was carried out in Guntung Manggis, Haur Gading, and Halat. The standardization method used was based on the Indonesian Herbal Pharmacopoeia and the General Standard Parameter of Extract. The organoleptic observations showed that L. articulata simplicia was reddish-brown in color, chelated taste, and had a specific odor. Microscopic observation showed parts of this plant: epidermis, cortex, endodermis, parenchyma, bundle vessels, and scalariform vessels. Ethanol-soluble extract content was 10.00-12.66%, water-soluble extract content 8.03-10.87%, drying shrinkage 7.10-7.33%, total ash content 2.03-2.52%, acid-insoluble ash 0.33-0.42%, Pb content 5.698-9.989 ppm, Cd content 0.300-0.500 ppm, Hg content 0.070-0.090 ppm. Ethanol extract of L. articulata rhizome contained alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, glycosides, and saponins. The yield obtained was 8.05-11.23%, total ash content was 1.58-1.67%, acid-insoluble ash was 0.23-0.33%, and water content was 7.10-8.50%. Standardization of simplicia and ethanol extract of L. articulata rhizome has met the criteria.

Abstract

Acid hydrolysis of palm trunk starch can increase the amylose content in starch, providing a stronger and more stable film. This study aims to obtain the best-modified starch concentration ratio with hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) and identify their characteristics. Modifying palm trunk starch was conducted with an acetic buffer using CH3COONa and CH3COOH, decolorizing starch with activated carbon. Manufacturing a capsule shell was performed with weight ratio variations of modified starch and HPMC 1:1 (F1), 2:1 (F2), and 3:1 (F3). All formulations produced firm and elastic capsule shells. The capsule products were consistent in an average weight of F1 (0.10 g), F2 (0.11 g), and F3 (0.14 g). The average disintegration test results were F1 (10 minutes, 27.57 seconds), F2 (6 minutes, 47.06 seconds), and F3 (4 minutes, 34.24 seconds). Tensile strength results were F1 (2.147 MPa), F2 (2.565 MPa), and F3 (2.159 MPa). Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) results showed a vibration at a wavenumber of 1560 cm-1 corresponding to the characteristic fingerprint of the C–O vibration stretching in the capsule shell made from starch modified by HPMC. The concentration of modified starch affects the capsule shell’s characteristics, showing that capsule shell F2 (2:1) has the best formulation.

Abstract

The fermented product sector can produce kefir for use in cosmetic preparations. Kefir has weak storage stability and strong antioxidant properties, making it a suitable raw material for cosmetic formulations. The purpose of this study is to determine the best concentration of peanut kefir in Peel-off mask Arachi through antioxidant activity and physical stability during seven cycles of room temperature storage and freeze-thaw (4±2ºC and 40±2ºC). Using the DPPH method based on the IC50 value, the antioxidant activity test was conducted. It was retested after 7 cycles or 28 days. At ambient temperature and freeze-thaw temperature, organoleptic tests, pH, adhesion, and spreadability were conducted in cycles ranging from 0 to 7. The peel-off kefir mask preparations with F1 (0.5%), F2 (1%), and F3 (2%), concentrations created a homogeneous, viscous preparation that was stable at room temperature and freeze-thaw stable for seven cycles, according to the results. In terms of the pH test, the sample showed a drop in pH following storage, stable adhesion for up to seven cycles. However, for F1, the adhesion was not stable in either scenario. With a significant activity category, the formula's antioxidant activity also declines in IC50 values. Therefore, it can be said that even though the peel-off mask preparation changed after storage in a few different ways, it still falls short of the threshold in terms of the physical characteristics of the cosmetic preparation.

Abstract

Kasus kebakaran hutan dan lahan dapat menyebabkan dampak negatif emisi kabut asap sehingga mengakibatkan masalah kesehatan yang serius seperti sesak nafas. Puskesmas dapat menjadi pelayanan darurat pasca bencana, akan tetapi dengan jumlahnya yang terbatas, peran kader Posyandu sangat diperlukan dalam membantu mengatasi masalah kesehatan akibat bencana. Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini untuk menginisiasi kesiapsiagaan kader posyandu dalam menghadapi bencana kebakaran hutan dan lahan untuk mencegah terjadinya gangguan kesehatan melalui edukasi dan pelatihan penggunaan tabung oksigen sebagai pertolongan pertama pada sesak nafas akibat kabut asap di Desa Benua Raya, Kecamatan Bati-Bati, Kabupaten Tanah Laut. Kegiatan dilakukan melalui penyuluhan dan pelatihan penggunaan seperangkat tabung oksigen kepada Ibu-ibu kader Posyandu dengan total 14 orang pada tanggal 18 November 2024. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa peserta mengetahui dan memahami dampak terhadap kesehatan serta tindakan yang harus dilakukan dalam membantu permasalahan kesehatan akibat kabut asap. Persentase pengetahuan sebelum kegiatan yaitu 21,43%-57,14% mengalami peningkatan setelah kegiatan menjadi 100%. Tingkat pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta dalam penggunaan seperangkat tabung oksigen juga meningkat dari 12,29% menjadi 100%. Kesimpulannya yaitu kegiatan ini dapat menginisiasi Posyandu berbasis kebencanaan untuk meminimalisir tingkat keparahan masalah kesehatan yang diakibatkan oleh kabut asap melalui kompetensi dan keterampilan pertolongan pertama pada sesak nafas menggunakan tabung oksigen.

Abstract

Nymphaea pubescens Willd telah diketahui mempunyai efek antibakteri, terutama pada biji dan daunnya. Tetapi sampai saat ini bagian bunga dari tanaman tersebut belum dilakukan pengujian aktivitas antibakteri. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk melakukan skrining fitokimia, uji aktivitas antibakteri dan penentuan konsentrasi hambat minimum (KHM) dari ekstrak metanol bunga N. pubescens terhadap S. aureus dan E. coli. Proses ekstraksi bunga N. pubescens dimaserasi menggunakan pelarut metanol dengan perbandingan 1: 4 b/v. Metode pengujian yang digunakan ada dua yaitu metode difusi untuk pengujian aktivitas antibakteri dan metode dilusi untuk pengukuran konsentrasi hambat minimum (KHM). Hasil skrining fitokimia didapatkan bahwa ekstrak metanol bunga N. pubescens mengandung senyawa golongan fenolik, saponin dan flavonoid. Hasil pengujian aktivitas antibakteri menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak metanol bunga N.pubescens mampu menghambat S. aureus (diameter hambat 10 ± 0,29 mm) dan E.coli (diameter hambat 10,2 ± 0,50 mm). Konsentrasi hambat minimum dari ekstrak metanol bunga N. pubescens terhadap S.aureus sebesar 12,5% dan terhadap E.coli sebesar 25%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak metanol bunga N. pubescens memiliki aktivitas sebagai antibakteri. Nymphaea pubescens Willd has known to have antibacterial effects, especially on the seeds and leaves. However, until now the flower of the plant has not been tested for antibacterial activity. The purpose of this study was to perform phytochemical screening, antibacterial activity test and determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the methanol extract of N. pubescens flowers against S. aureus and E. coli. The process of extracting N. pubescens flowers is macerated using methanol as a solvent with a ratio of 1: 4 w / v. There are two test methods used, namely the diffusion method for testing antibacterial activity and the dilution method for measuring the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). The results of phytochemical screening showed that the methanol extract of N. pubescens flowers contained phenolic compounds, saponins, and flavonoids. The results of the antibacterial activity test showed that the methanol extract of N.pubescens flowers was able to inhibit S. aureus (inhibition diameter 10 ± 0.29 mm) and E. coli (inhibitory diameter 10.2 ± 0.50 mm). The minimum inhibitory concentration of the methanol extract of N. pubescens flowers against S.aureus was 12.5% and against E. coli was 25%.
