Abstract

This article explores gender disparities in ecologically friendly-tourism development, including the involvement, competence, internal and external barriers of women and men.  The data were collected using survey on 400 respondents, consisting of women and men and focus group discussion with 18 informants. The data analysis uses analysis of gender disparities on planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the stage of ecologically friendly- tourism development. The finding shows that gender disparities happen in ecologically friendly- tourism development, in which women are still marginalized in terms of their involvement, competency, internal and external barriers.   The highest gender disparities on the involvement of women and men in ecologically friendly-tourism development occurred in the implementation.  Women’s competence is lower than that of men, and women‘s barrier are higher than that of men.    Accordingly, gender mainstreaming in developing environmentally-friendly tourism should be empowered through gender based-financial allocation, especially for eliminating gender stereotip and improving human resources capacities in developing environmentally-friendly tourism.

Abstract

This study highlights how far medicinal plants found in many areas of Klaten Central Java are utilized to build herb culture and support health tourism, i.e. tourism which provides travellers with good habits of consuming healthy food and drinks while in the destination. This descriptive research applied qualitative approach and employed several data collection techniques which include site observation, interview, focus group discussion, and document study. Data were analysed using interactive and thematic analysis technique. Results show that most eating places including restaurants and food stalls in tourist destinations do not provide traditional drinks made of medicinal plants such as ginger, tamarind, turmeric, curcuma zanthorrhiza (temulawak), and kaempferia galanga (kencur). Tourism stakeholders have not yet realized the potentials to build herbs culture where the locals provide traditional drinks made of medicinal plants and the tourists consume them in tourist destinations to perform health tourism.

Abstract

Rice is one of the agricultural products that experience many problems in providing national food stocks. Constraints on rice stocks in Indonesia have resulted in price increases, especially for low-income people. Insufficient rice production encourages rice imports by the government to meet national needs. The research aims to determine the factors that influence rice imports in Indonesia. The basic research method is a quantitative descriptive method. Secondary data was used in 1993-2022. Data analysis uses multiple linear regression. The results of the analysis show: (1) Together, the variables of rice harvest area, population, rupiah exchange rate, rice consumption, and rice stock have a significant effect on rice imports. (2) The variables of rice harvest area, rupiah exchange rate, and rice stock do not individually have a significant effect on rice imports. On the other hand, the variables of population and rice consumption have a significant effect individually. (3) The variables of population and rice consumption have a positive and significant influence on rice imports. The government is advised to focus on rice import policies by considering fluctuations in domestic consumption and population which have a significant impact, while also monitoring the stability of the rupiah exchange rate to anticipate potential impacts in the future.

Abstract

Tea is one type of beverage that has many fans. In addition to having a distinctive taste, tea is also beneficial for the body. The high demand makes tea one of the export commodities in various countries, especially Indonesia. The area of tea plantations in Indonesia makes Indonesia the second largest country as a tea exporter in Southeast Asia after Vietnam. The study aimed to determine the competitiveness and trend of Indonesian tea export competitiveness in the Southeast Asian market. The basic method uses descriptive analysis methods. Data uses secondary time series data obtained from various official sources such as ITC Trade Map, Food and Agriculture Statistics (FAOSTAT), and other sources of information obtained from books, articles, and journals. The analysis method uses Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) to determine the competitiveness of Indonesian tea commodity exports and the Export Competitiveness Index (ECI) method to determine the trend of Indonesian tea competitiveness. The study results showed an average RCA value> 1, which is 2.29, which means that Indonesian tea has strong competitiveness in the Southeast Asian market.
