Abstract

Abstract of this research aims to determine income and business efficiency based on goat ownership strata and determine the differences in income and efficiency between strata 1 (6.56 SK ownership) and stratum 2 (2.61 SK ownership) of small-scale goat farming businesses in Melung Village, Kedungbanteng District, Banyumas Regency. The sample determination method in this research uses the Non Probability Sampling method, namely Saturated Sampling (census), which is a sampling method when all members of the population are used as samples. This is often done when the population is small or less than 30 people. Data obtained in the form of interviews and secondary data. Interviews were conducted directly with respondents while secondary data was obtained from official records or government agencies in Melung Village. The variables studied are main income and side income, production costs, production and product prices. Income is analyzed using cash flow, namely I=TR-TC and efficiency is analyzed by R/C comparison. The analysis results show: 1). Income from strata 1 is IDR 433,311/SK while strata 2 is IDR 280,924/SK. The R/C value for strata 1 livestock businesses is 1.25 while for strata 2 is 1.21. ; 2). The results of the comparative analysis show that the income and efficiency of strata 1 are higher than those of strata 1. The conclusion is that the income and efficiency value of strata 1 is higher than strata 2, this is because the scale of livestock ownership is greater. It is recommended that breeders increase their business scale, and get related government support because most breeders are constrained by limited business capital.

Abstract

Ambon banana peel (ABP) is rich in phenolic compounds yet unstable to light and heat. Foam-mat drying (FMD) protects bioactive components and facilitates the development of nutraceutical products. This study aimed to formulate and evaluate FMD granules containing ABP for their antioxidant and antihypertensive activities. Granules were prepared with ABP at 1% (F1), 2.5% (F2), and 5% (F3) w/w, combined with 6% Tween-80 and 15% maltodextrin, dried at 40 °C for 60 min, and blended with excipients. Physical characteristics, pH, flowability, and antioxidant activity (ABTS assay) were assessed. Antihypertensive effects were tested in Wistar rats induced with 2% NaCl and treated orally for 14 days; captopril (5 mg/kg BW) served as a positive control. Data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA. All formulations produced free-flowing granules with a moisture content <2% and a dissolution time <5 min. Antioxidant inhibition increased with ABP content, with F3 showing the highest activity (71.3 ± 1.4%). F3 also achieved the greatest reductions in systolic (≈31%) and diastolic (≈39%) blood pressure, approaching the effect of captopril. Moreover, F3 exhibits strong antioxidant activity and significant antihypertensive effects, indicating potential as a sustainable nutraceutical for the management of hypertension. Further studies on product stability and clinical efficacy are warranted.
