Abstract

This study examines the effect of R&D intensity, investment decisions, funding decisions and dividend policy on firm value. This study measures firm value by Price to Book Value (PBV). The population in this study consisted of 228 manufacturing industry sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), and financial reports were published annually from 2018 to 2022. The sample used in this study consisted of 14 companies, with sampling techniques through purposive sampling. The research method used in this study is quantitative and is categorised into descriptive research. The data analysis techniques use multiple linear regression. The results showed funding decisions have a significant negative effect, while investment decisions and dividend policies have a significant positive effect on firm value. Meanwhile, R&D intensity does not affect firm value. Therefore, researchers suggest using investment decisions, funding decisions, and dividend policies that affect firm value as considerations when making good investment decisions and getting the most profit.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of cash flow, dividends, market-to-book ratio, net working capital, leverage and Z-score on cash holding in consumer cyclical sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for 2018-2022. The type of data used is quantitative data sourced from secondary data. The population comprises consumer cyclical sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2018 to 2022. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, and 23 companies were obtained as samples. The research results show that cash flow, market-to-book ratio, and net working capital have a significant and positive effect on cash holding. High cash flow indicates that cash inflow is greater than cash outflow, thus allowing the company to hold and use cash to finance its operational activities. The market-to-book ratio indicates investment opportunities for the company, opens up easy access to capital markets and allows for easy acquisition of additional funds. Excess funds saved by the company will increase cash holdings. An increase in net working capital indicates an increase in cash balances because companies with high liquidity generally hold large amounts of cash. On the other hand, the Z-score shows a significant and negative influence on cash holding. A high Z-score value indicates that the company is in a safe zone and does not need to hold much cash because its financial condition is stable. Meanwhile, dividends and leverage do not show a significant influence on cash holding.

Socioeconomic status was measured using six indicators (education, employment, income, material possessions, services, and transportation), while mental health was measured using five dimensions (happiness, depression, anxiety, emotional control, and positive behavior). Results: Data analysis using multiple linear regression shows that socioeconomic status and mental health have a significant effect, both partially and simultaneously, on students' academic achievement. These results indicate that stable family financial support and healthy psychological conditions can improve the focus, motivation, and learning productivity of final-year students. Novelty: This study provides novelty by integrating two major variables are socioeconomic status and mental health analyzed simultaneously in relation to the academic achievement of final-year university students, a context rarely explored in Indonesian higher education research. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy, money attitude, and self-control on financial distress through impulsive buying as a mediating variable among Paylater users in Surabaya City. The research was conducted to examine whether financial literacy, money attitude, and self-control significantly affect financial distress directly and indirectly through impulsive buying behavior. The study hypothesizes that higher financial literacy and self-control reduce financial distress, while negative money attitudes and impulsive buying tendencies increase financial distress among Paylater users. This research employed a quantitative approach using a causal associative design. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to Paylater users in Surabaya City using purposive sampling techniques. The respondents consisted of active users of Paylater services who had experience using digital payment and credit facilities. The collected data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS) to test the relationships among variables and the mediating effect of impulsive buying. The results indicate that financial literacy and self-control have a negative and significant effect on financial distress, while money attitude and impulsive buying positively influence financial distress. Furthermore, impulsive buying was found to mediate the relationship between financial literacy, money attitude, self-control, and financial distress. Individuals with low financial literacy and weak self-control tend to engage in impulsive buying behavior, which ultimately increases the risk of financial distress. The findings imply that improving financial literacy and strengthening self-control are essential strategies to minimize financial distress among Paylater users. Financial institutions, educational institutions, and policymakers are encouraged to provide financial education programs and promote responsible digital financial behavior. Future studies are recommended to expand the research scope by involving larger populations, additional variables, and different geographical areas to obtain broader insights into consumer financial behavior in the digital era.
