Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategic role of leadership in implementing digital transformation at Pondok Pesantren Ash-Shiddiiqi in the era of globalization, focusing on the integration of Islamic values, adaptive and exemplary leadership, human resource capacity development, external collaboration, and strategic communication. The research employed a qualitative case study approach, involving in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis to gain a comprehensive understanding of leadership practices and digitalization in the pesantren. The findings indicate that values-based leadership enables sustainable digitalization without compromising the identity of the pesantren, while adaptive and exemplary leadership enhances the collective capacity of teachers and staff through collaborative learning. Collaboration with alumni, government agencies, and other stakeholders strengthens resource support and institutional innovation, whereas transparent and Qur’anic principle-based communication effectively mitigates resistance to change. The integration of religious values, moral exemplarity, and technological adaptation creates a harmonization between digital innovation and spiritual orientation, reinforcing leadership legitimacy and ensuring the sustainability of the transformation. These findings contribute to the literature on transformational and adaptive leadership in Islamic education and provide practical guidance for other pesantren and Islamic educational institutions in managing digital transformation sustainably, aligned with institutional missions, and responsive to global challenges

Abstract

This study investigates the factors influencing the institutional image of Pondok Pesantren Ar-Rahmah in Jambi by identifying both internal catalysts and barriers that shape public perception. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observation involving pesantren leaders, teachers, and parents. The findings indicate that visionary leadership, strong support from the foundation, and continuous student achievements—particularly in religious competitions such as the Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ)—serve as key catalysts in strengthening the pesantren’s image. Visionary leadership fosters discipline, academic excellence, and moral integrity, while foundation support provides institutional stability. However, the study also identifies major barriers, including limited shared understanding of strategic goals among internal stakeholders, human resource constraints in digital communication and public relations, and challenges in managing time and institutional priorities. These barriers hinder the consistent implementation of image-building strategies. The study recommends improving internal communication, enhancing digital competencies, and strengthening priority management to sustain a positive institutional image.

Abstract

The development of information technology requires the education sector to innovate learning processes that can enhance students’ learning motivation. Information technology based learning management has become one of the relevant strategies to address these challenges, particularly at the secondary school level. This study aims to analyze the planning, implementation, evaluation, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors in the application of information technology based learning management to improve students’ learning motivation at tate Senior High School 7 Sarolangun. This study employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, three teachers, and two students, classroom observations, and documentation of learning tools. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source triangulation. The results indicate that learning planning has systematically integrated information technology into lesson plans and the selection of instructional media. The implementation of information technology–based learning is interactive and varied, which increases student engagement and learning motivation. Evaluation conducted through online quizzes, digital assignments, and technology-based projects was effective in improving students’ motivation to learn. The main supporting factors include school support, teacher readiness, and student enthusiasm, while the inhibiting factors include limited internet access and learning devices. Therefore, information technology based learning management can effectively enhance students’ learning motivation.

Abstract

This study examines the strategic development of Pondok Pesantren Ash-Shiddiiqi in strengthening institutional competitiveness within contemporary educational contexts. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through interviews with institutional leaders, teachers, and students. The findings reveal four key strategic dimensions: the integration of digital technology into learning, the balance between religious and general education, community and alumni engagement, and economic self-sufficiency initiatives. The adoption of iPads and digital media enhances instructional effectiveness and institutional visibility, while structured religious programs preserve the pesantren’s spiritual foundation. Community involvement and alumni networks contribute to institutional sustainability and reputation, and entrepreneurial activities support financial independence. These integrated strategies demonstrate how pesantren can adapt to modern educational demands without compromising their religious identity. The study contributes to understanding strategic management practices in Islamic boarding schools facing increasing educational competition.

Abstract

This study examines Islamic gender education in the traditional village of Bayan, North Lombok, a community characterized by strong religious and customary traditions. Despite Islamic teachings that emphasize justice and equality, gender disparities persist in various social and religious domains. This research aims to analyze how Islamic gender education is implemented and how the interaction between Islamic values and local customs shapes women’s roles within an indigenous Muslim community. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, and analyzed thematically. The findings reveal a gradual transformation in women’s roles from relatively passive participation to more active engagement in religious lectures, informal religious education, and customary activities. While informal institutions provide more equitable access for girls, formal religious leadership remains predominantly male-dominated. Support from families, religious leaders, and customary authorities strengthens women’s positions, although certain traditional practices continue to require contextual reinterpretation. This study contributes to the limited scholarship on Islamic gender education in indigenous contexts by demonstrating how religious principles and local traditions can be constructively negotiated to promote gender equality and support sustainable development goals.
