Abstract

This research is classroom action research that aims to improve student learning outcomes by using the drill and practice method in the direct learning model. The application of the direct learning model follows the following phases: 1) conveying the objectives and preparing the learners, 2) demonstrating knowledge or skills, 3) guiding the training, 4) checking understanding and providing feedback, and 5) providing opportunities for further training and application. This research was carried out in as many as two cycles by following predetermined stages. The subject of this study is 7th-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Sindue Tobata, with a total of 23 students. The results of the research from Cycle I and Cycle II showed an increase in student learning in integer counting operations learning using the drill and practice method in the direct learning model, namely in Cycle I by 60.8% and in Cycle II by 87%. Therefore, the drill and practice learning method can improve student learning outcomes in learning integer counting operations.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving rewards on the motivation to learn mathematics of class V students of SD Islam Alhidayah Besusu. The data analysis technique used in this study is the use of the Person Product Moment (PPM) Correlation formula. The results of the study after testing using the Person Product Moment correlation formula obtained the price of rxy0.642 greater than rtable0.09, namely 0.642>0.09, and seen from the guidelines for interpreting the correlation coefficient the value of rxy0.642 is in the coefficient interval value of 0.60 - 0.799 in that interval the level of relationship is strong, Conclusion, there is an effect of Giving Rewards on the Motivation to Learn Mathematics of Class V Students of SD Islam Alhidayah Besusu. This is evident from the results of hypothesis testing using the PPM (Person Product Moment) Correlation formula.   Keywords: Effect of Giving Rewards, Learning Motivation, Class V Students, SD Islam Alhidayah Besusu

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the mistakes of male and female students in solving numeracy AKM problems based on Newman procedures. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. Some of the results obtained from this study are: (1) mistakes made by male students including comprehension errors occurred because students read the questions once quickly and did not know which ones to write because the questions were too long, process skill errors occurred because students were not careful in calculating multiplication and division operations, and encoding errors occurred because students were in a hurry to do the problems; (2) mistakes made by female students include comprehension errors occurring because students read the questions once and do not know which ones to write because the questions are too long, transformation errors occur because students do not know the formula for finding averages, process skills errors occur because students are not able to calculate correctly, and encoding errors occur because students are not careful in reading what is asked in the questions.(3) The most dominant mistake made by male and female students is comprehension error. This mistake occurs because students read the questions only once, making them unable to fully understand the information provided in the questions and not knowing which points to write down due to the questions being too lengthy.

Abstract

The problem in this research is that one of the mathematical materials that is considered difficult by students is the material on flat-sided solid shapes of cubes and cuboids. One of the causes of the lowstudent learning outcomes due to lack of student interest in mathematics lessons, students are not active in learning, students only tend to memorize not understanding the concept and lack of interaction between students and teachers so that students often make mistakes in solving problems, mistakes shown by students in mathematics learning are not only caused by this subject has an abstract nature and requires a serious learning atmosphere, but also influenced by factors from the students themselves and their environment. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). Data collection techniques in this study used observation, interviews and field notes. This study consists of two stages, namely the pre-action stage and the implementation of the action. The results of this study indicate that the application of a problem-based learning model using differentiated learning can improve student learning outcomes in the material on the volume and surface area of cubes and cuboids through the following stages: (1) orienting students to the problem, the teacher presents the material, (2) organizing students to learn, the teacher forms study groups, (3) guiding individual and group investigations, the teacher guides students in collecting information, (4) developing and presenting the results of their work, the teacher asks several groups to present the results of their discussions to their friends in front of the class, and (5) analyzing and evaluating the problem-solving process, the teacher and students together conclude the material that has been studied.
