Abstract

Electric transport is becoming increasingly popular as another option to use environmentally friendly energy in the form of transport. To support the development of electric transport, efficient and accessible charging infrastructure is required. Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) have become a major part of supporting long-distance travel and reducing the impact of greenhouse gas emissions on the environment. To increase the availability of SPKLUs and expand accessibility for electric vehicle users, this research aims to design an innovative coin-based SPKLU system that also utilizes solar energy through solar panels. The station can have a smaller environmental effect and lower operating costs by employing solar energy as its primary source. The examination included a review of the economy as well. As a result, those in charge, business owners, and communities who want to promote the usage of electric vehicles find it to be a desirable alternative.  As a result of this research, it was found that a full charge of a 20Ah battery only requires a coin of Rp 7000

Abstract

A decrease in the level of awareness due to drowsiness while driving a motorized vehicle can increase the risk of traffic accidents. Smart Alarm Driver Assistance is  a computing system development based on one board Raspberry Pi 4 model B. Digital image processing is intended to automatically recognize signs of drowsiness and provide warnings as early as possible. It is hoped that this research will reduce the number of road accidents caused by drowsy drivers. Raspberry pi is integrated with Raspberry pi camera noir v2 8MP for real-time eye monitoring, audio speaker and I2C OLED 128x64 as a warning output. Shape Predictor_68_Facial landmark model is used to detect Eye Aspect Ratio (EAR) as a parameter of driver drowsiness. The results of the test obtained an average response time of 0.82 seconds for the audio speaker to turn on and the average time the 128x64 OLED I2C lights up 0.90 seconds. This research can prove that the Raspberry Pi 4 model B can be implemented for drowsiness detection and warning. In the future, the protoype can be developed in terms of software and proper tool design.

Abstract

The Kontes Mobil Hemat Energi (KMHE) and the Shell Eco-marathon (SEM) are competitions that encourage students to design and develop energy-efficient and environmentally friendly electric vehicles. However, the majority of current energy monitoring systems for electric vehicles are built on Internet of Things (IoT) designs that depend on a stable connection to the internet, which is frequently unavailable in situations such as race tracks. Obtaining real-time energy usage statistics during vehicle operation becomes challenging due to this constraint. This research aims to design and implement a LoRa (Long Range)-based electric vehicle energy monitoring system that operates independently of internet networks. The proposed system consists of transmitter and receiver units that monitor voltage, current, power, and electrical energy parameters using a Current Transformer (CT) sensor, a voltage divider circuit, an ADS1115 ADC module, and an ESP32 microcontroller as the main controller.  A LoRa RA-02 module operating at 433 MHz is used to wirelessly send data, which are then shown in real time at the receiving device. Experimental results show that the system is capable of transmitting data reliably up to a distance of approximately 500 meters under field conditions without internet connectivity. The voltage measurement exhibits an average error below 0.1%, while the current measurement error ranges up to 4.65% compared to reference instruments. During vehicle operation, the system is able to calculate electrical power and energy consistently during vehicle operation. These results demonstrate that the suggested LoRa-based monitoring system is appropriate for real-time electric car energy monitoring in competitive settings with spotty internet connectivity.

Abstract

The development of telemetry systems has expanded beyond professional motorsport applications to energy-efficient electric vehicles in student research competitions. These vehicles prioritize lightweight structures and optimized energy consumption; however, such design constraints often limit the integration of comprehensive safety systems. This study presents the design and implementation of an Accident Response Telemetry for Electric Vehicle (ARTEV) system for real-time accident detection and emergency notification. The system integrates an MPU6050 accelerometer–gyroscope sensor to monitor acceleration and orientation changes, a YL-99 vibration sensor to detect physical impacts, and a Neo-6M GPS module to determine vehicle location. All sensors are managed by an ESP8266 microcontroller as the main control unit. A threshold-based algorithm processes acceleration and rotational data to distinguish normal road vibrations from collision-induced impacts. When accident conditions are detected, the SIM800L GSM module automatically transmits short message service (SMS) notifications containing geographic coordinates, ensuring reliable communication without internet dependency. A buzzer is incorporated as a local warning indicator for the driver. Experimental testing demonstrates that the ARTEV system can detect collision events and delivering location-based emergency notifications effectively, thereby improving operational safety in energy-efficient electric vehicles.

Abstract

Limited access to electrical charging has encouraged the use of solar panels as an alternative energy source for electric vehicle charging systems. A prototype flexible charging system on the sunroof of an electric vehicle uses a 100 Wp monocrystalline solar panel based on the Internet of Things (IoT) and is designed to improve the efficiency and reliability of the battery charging process. The system consists of solar panels, an MPPT charge controller, a 15 Ah LiFePO₄ battery, a protection circuit, and an IoT module with notifications for real-time monitoring. Testing included solar panel characteristics, MPPT efficiency, battery charging process, protection performance, and IoT monitoring. Test results show that the solar panel is capable of generating a maximum power of up to ±96 W at peak conditions, while the MPPT works optimally with an efficiency in the range of ±88–94% in extracting the maximum power from the panel. The battery charging process was stable with an increase in State of Charge (SoC) of up to ±92% during three days of testing without excessive current surges. All protection features functioned properly, and the IoT monitoring system was able to reliably display voltage, current, and power parameters. This system demonstrates the potential for flexible solar-based charging on electric car sunroofs with remote monitoring capabilities.

Abstract

The design and modeling of a Regenerative Braking System (RBS) based on adaptive Fuzzy-PID control in electric vehicles is covered in this work, along with a comparison with a traditional RBS. The performance of regenerative braking in electric vehicles still faces challenges in maximizing energy conversion efficiency during braking and maintaining system stability amid dynamic changes in operating conditions. The system was developed and simulated using MATLAB/Simulink to analyze dynamic performance under various operating conditions. The proposed system aims to improve energy efficiency by converting kinetic energy during the braking process into electrical energy, which is then stored in the battery. The Fuzzy-PID controller is designed to adjust PID parameters based on system conditions adaptively. Simulations were conducted for 20 seconds under scenarios that varied acceleration and deceleration conditions. System performance evaluation was based on State of Charge (SoC), battery voltage, and battery current parameters to assess energy conversion effectiveness and system stability. The simulation results show that the Fuzzy-PID system performs better than the conventional RBS system, as indicated by an increase in the State of Charge (SoC) value of approximately 0.005%. Additionally, the Fuzzy-PID system demonstrates voltage and current responses during regenerative braking that yield higher voltage and greater regenerative current than the conventional system. The results of this study indicate that the Fuzzy-PID method is an effective approach for improving energy efficiency and system stability in regenerative braking systems for electric vehicles.
