Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify the arrowroot morphology characters and its distribution pattern in Jember District, East Java Province. Plant inventory was carried out in 6 sub-districts, i.e. Arjasa, Sumbersari, Silo, Tanggul, Semboro, and Wuluhan from July to October 2021 using survey method. The sampling technique was done by accidental sampling. The results of dendogram analysis based on morphological characters showed that Sumbersari, Wuluhan, and Arjasa were sub-district areas with a lot of arrowroots, if compared to other 3 sub-districts. Three main groups were formed based on the similarity of arrowroot morphological characters, accessions from geographically adjacent sub-district or village had greater morphological similarities. Leaf length has a close relationship with leaf width, leaf sheath length, and leaf petiole diameter. The distance between stem segments has a correlation with stem height. The longest fibrous roots and stem diameter contributed less to arrowroot diversity. The number of internodes positively correlated with tuber circumference, tuber length, and tuber weight. Arrowroot plant accessions grew in groups according to certain morphological characteristics, which was also showed a close relationship between these accessions. Abstract

Garut (Maranta arundinacea L.) merupakan tanaman perenial yang umbinya dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber pangan alternatif, pakan, dan bahan baku industri. Tanaman garut di Kabupaten Jember masih sebagai tanaman liar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keragaman fisikokimia garut dari beberapa kecamatan di Kabupaten Jember. Variabel fisikokimia yang diamati meliputi kadar air, sukrosa, protein terlarut, antioksidan, flavonoid, phenolic, gula reduksi, dan karbohidrat. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis korelasi dan biplot. Hasil korelasi menunjukkan semakin tinggi kadar air maka semakin rendah kandungan sukrosa pada umbi garut (r= -0.480), juga dengan kandungan protein terlarut (r=-0.515) dan gula reduksi (r=-0.698). Semakin tinggi kandungan sukrosa pada umbi garut maka semakin tinggi pula kandungan protein terlarut (r=0.515), phenolik (r=0.513) dan gula reduksi (r=0.657). Berdasarkan hasil analisis biplot, total keragaman fisikokimia garut di Kabupaten Jember sebesar 58.6%. Kandungan flavonoid memiliki nilai keragaman kecil dibanding variabel lainnya. Umbi garut yang diperoleh dari Kecamatan Wuluhan (Desa Tanjangrejo dan Glundengan) memiliki kandungan gula reduksi dan protein terlarut rendah, dan umbi garut dari Kecamatan Sumbersari (Desa Kranjingan) memiliki kandungan antioksidan dan karbohidrat paling tinggi.

Abstract

Basically, early marriage and stunting are two related aspects. Early marriage may result in many problems, such as poverty and lack of education. The lack of nutritional fulfillment and parenting education can inhibit child growth and development. The socialization held by KKN-K group 53 aims to prevent stunting by providing education about early marriage and the risk of stunting to the community in Garahan Village by having socialization in Posyandu (Integrated Service Post), secondary school, and high school. The method used in this paper is counseling by providing a forum to discuss factors, risks, and problems of early marriage and stunting. In its implementation, the socialization about early marriage and stunting gets a good appreciation and positive reaction from the community. The community got additional education about stunting as an aspect that people often are unaware of. KKN-K Group 053 appeals to the people in Garahan Village to avoid early marriage and focus on improving personal qualities as well as a bright future. In addition, the community needs to provide good parenting, especially the fulfillment of nutrition for children.

Abstract

ABSTRAKTujuan pengabdian yang diusulkan tim melalui pelatihan yaitu i) menambah pengetahuan guru terkait metode statistika untuk pengolahan data hasil penelitian tindakan kelas, dan ii) update kompetensi guru dalam penggunaan Ms. Excel. Pelatihan dihadiri 25 guru dari anggota KKG gugus 04 Arjasa secara luring. Tim menyampaikan materi kepada peserta dalam bentuk teori dan praktik secara langsung. KKG gugus 04 Arjasa mendapatkan informasi penerapan metode statistika dengan pemanfaatan Ms. Excel dalam menyusun PTK. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian menunjukkan terdapat pebedaan signifikan pengetahuan dan kemampuan peserta pelatihan sebelum dan sesudah mengikuti pelatihan. Peserta pelatihan mendapatkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan terkait penerapan metode statistika untuk menyelesaikan kasus pembelajaran menggunakan Ms. Excel. Uji t-paired menyimpulkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta setelah mengikuti pelatihan sebesar 73.2 yang lebih tinggi secara signfikan pada tingkat 5% dibandingkan dengan sebelum mengikuti pelatihan sebesar 43.6. Kegiatan pengabdian selanjutnya disarankan untuk dilakukan pelatihan secara rutin dengan materi metode statistika parametrik lainnya dan menggunakan software statistika. Kata kunci: excel; PTK; statistika; uji t-paired. ABSTRACTThe objectives of the service proposed by the team through training are i) increasing teacher knowledge related to statistical methods for processing CAR data and ii) updating teacher competence using Ms. Excel. The 25 teachers from members of KKG cluster 04 Arjasa attend offline training. The team delivered theoretical and practical materials to participants directly. KKG cluster 04 Arjasa obtained information on the application of statistical methods by utilizing Ms. Excel in compiling CAR. The knowledge and ability of trainees before and after attending the training are significantly different. Training participants obtain increased knowledge and skills about statistical methods to solve learning cases using Ms. Excel. The t-paired test concludes participants' knowledge and skills after training at 73.2 was significantly higher at a level of 5% compared to before training at 43.6. Further service activities are recommended to regularly training with other parametric statistical methods and using statistical software. Keywords: CAR; excel; statistic; t-paired test.

Abstract

Sendang Tirto Gumitir in Sidomulyo Village has a clear spring. The Sendang location is in the middle of a forest area. Around Sendang, there are many large-diameter trees with diverse and unique shapes and old age. The potential of Sendang Tirto Gumitir as educational tourism in its tree collection has not been implemented by tourism managers and village governments. Many villagers do not know the types and characteristics of trees in the Sendang area. The solution to overcome this problem is with manual and digital inventory activities of Sendang Tirto Gumitir. The results of the inventory of 23 trees in Sendang Tirto Gumitir obtained eight types of trees with the largest diameter, namely banyan trees (233 cm). Descriptions of information are on the village website, and information boards are attached to trees. The tree information board is integrated into the QR-Code. It is scanned with a mobile phone and contained tree information on the village website. Based on the educational side, QR-Code is useful in providing learning for visitors, the community, and students to gain access to tree information around Sendang Tirto Gumitir. The existence of tree inventory and digitization of information related to tree inventory is the first step for the village government to develop the Sendang Tirto Gumitir tourist attraction. Therefore, further activities recommended to expand the tree inventory area in Sendang Tirto Gumitir and add a description of the characteristics of tree species.

Abstract

Abstrak: Petani di Desa Sebanen masih menerapkan sistem pertanian konvensional, dimana pupuk kimia dianggap memberikan hasil panen yang baik serta menguntungkan. Penggunaan pupuk kimia yang intensif serta minimnya informasi pemanfaatan sampah rumah tangga sebagai pupuk kompos dijadikan dasar dalam pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di Desa Sebanen. Pelaksanaan pengabdian dilakukan dengan beberapa tahapan, yaitu persiapan awal, penyuluhan, praktek, dan evaluasi. Persiapan awal dilakukan untuk meminta izin pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada kepala desa dan ketua RT 01 RW 01. Penyuluhan dan praktek dilakukan sekaligus dengan metode ceramah interaktif tentang pupuk anorganik dan organik serta cara pengolahan limbah rumah tangga untuk pupuk kompos. Kegiatan evaluasi dilaksanakan tiga minggu setelah kegiatan penyuluhan. Hasil kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan pupuk kompos berbahan dasar sampah rumah tangga berjalan lancar ditunjukkan dengan respon peserta pelatihan yang sangat baik dan antusias dalam mengajukan pertanyaan. Informasi tentang pembuatan kompos sederhana yang sudah dilakukan menimbulkan minat bagi peserta untuk mencoba mempraktikkan sendiri di rumah. Sekitar 40% dari peserta pelatihan sudah membuat pupuk kompos berbahan sampah rumah tangga secara mandiri dan telah diaplikasikan pada tanaman sayur dan hias yang ada di pekarangan rumah peserta.Abstract: Farmers in Sebanen village still apply conventional farming systems, where chemical fertilizers are considered to result in good and profitable yields. The intensive use of chemical fertilizers and the lack of information on household waste usage as compost is used as the basis for implementing community service in Sebanen. The activity is carried out in several stages, namely initial preparation, counseling, practice, and evaluation. Initial preparations were made to request permission for community service activity from the village head and head of RT 01 RW 01. Counseling and practice were carried out with interactive lecture methods about an-organic and organic fertilizers, also how to process household waste to become compost. The activity evaluation was held three weeks after the counseling activity. The production of compost from household waste went smoothly as indicated by the enthusiastic responses of participants asking questions. Information about simple composting methods had already generated interest for participants to practice on their own at home. Approximately 40% of the participants have made compost from household waste independently and have applied it to vegetable and ornamental plants in the participants yards.

Abstract

Kopi merupakan salah satu komoditas unggulan Desa Garahan. Namun pemanfaatan hanya sebatas pada buah, sedangkan kulit buah kurang dimanfaatkan secara optimal sehingga banyak menjadi limbah. Tujuan dari adanya sosialisasi pengolahan limbah kulit kopi menjadi pupuk dan briket adalah untuk mengurangi jumlah limbah kulit kopi, meningkatkan nilai manfaat dan nilai ekonomi warga Desa Garahan. Berdasarkan pelaksanaan sosialisasi yang meliputi kegiatan penyampaian materi, tanya jawab, dan diskusi, para peserta mendapatkan wawasan dan keterampilan baru terkait pengolahan limbah kulit kopi menjadi pupuk dan briket. Adapun respon peserta sangat positif ditandai dengan diskusi aktif selama sesi tanya jawab berlangsung.

Abstract

The growth of leaf biomass can be predicted from an increase in the surface area and thickness of the leaves. Measurements of leaf biomass are approached with the fresh weight of the leaves. The relationship between biomass and leaf surface area commonly performed by regression analysis. The analysis requires assuming linear relationship between dependent variables and independent variables. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is alternative that can be used to analyze the relationship of leaves and leaf biomass without requiring linear relationships. The research aimed to evaluate ANN performance in determining the fresh weight of pakcoy leaves based on leaf area parameters. Datasets in the study included leaf area datasets and length-width datasets. ANN architecture used Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP) with backpropagation. Ramsey’s test results showed that leaf area datasets is linier model and length-width datasets is nonlinier model. ANN performs well in predicting leaf fresh weight data on both nonlinear and linear models. The best ANN architecture for modeling the leaf fresh weight with leaf area is MLP (1-3-1) while the leaf fresh weight model with length and width is MLP (2-3-1).

Abstract

Gubuk Pustaka Ndalung is an alternative educational community for children and teenagers around Limbungsari Village, Ajung District, Jember Regency. Gubuk Pustaka Ndalung programs were focused on learning, playing, and creating activities. Alternative education is taught to students in formal and non-formal education. The literacy of active students in the Ndalung Library Huts about agriculture is still limited because the type of formal education provided is generally about general knowledge. Introduction to plants through hydroponic technology is important to grow a love for agriculture from an early age. The introduction and practice of hydroponic technology using a simple wick system is expected to increase students’ interest in plant cultivation and also the students' awareness of protecting the environment from waste that is difficult to degrade in the soil.
