Abstract

Diversification based on local food is the most feasible alternative to increase food security. Currently the dominant food consumed by the people of Tasikmalaya city is rice with consumption/capita/month of 8.25 kg, so it requires 5,964 tons per month. Only 73.50 percent can be fulfilled by yourself, the rest is imported from outside the region. Until now, it is not yet known whether families in Tasikmalaya City have diversified local food-based consumption into their daily menus in order to reduce dependence on rice. The specific aim of this research is to determine the implementation of diversification of local food consumption and the factors that influence it in the family menu to support food security. The research method used a survey of households in Tasikmalaya City with a sample size of 100 households from 170,486 households in Tasikmalaya City. Sampling used the Slovin method and applied proportional random sampling in 10 sub-districts in Tasikmalaya City. The data used consists of primary data and secondary data. Data analysis use descriptive and multiple regression analysis. The research results show that of the 100 household respondents studied, 31 percent regularly consume it, 59 percent of respondents only consume it on certain occasions and 10 percent never consume local food in their daily menu. Meanwhile, simultaneously the variables Household Characteristics, Income, Knowledge, Tastes about Rice, influence Implementation. Meanwhile, partially only characteristics have a significant effect on implementation, while other variables have no effect on implementation.

Abstract

Soil quality improvement can be achieved through the application of soil ameliorants such as Biochar. Developing superior varieties that are efficient in fertilization is also an effort to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers. This study aims to improve fertilization efficiency through the application of Biochar and the development of hybrid large red chili varieties at Siliwangi University. The research method used a Split-split plot design, consisting of large red chili varieties as the main plot, Biochar dosage treatment as the sub-plot, and different doses of inorganic fertilizers as the sub-sub plot. The main plot treatment consisted of four levels: Baja Variety (V1), UNSIL-01 (V2), UNSIL-02 (V3), and UNSIL-03 (V4). The sub-plot had two levels: without Biochar (B0) and 10 tons/ha of Biochar (B1). The inorganic fertilizer treatment consisted of three levels: 25% (P1), 50% (P2), and 75% (P3) of the standard dose. Each treatment was repeated three times, resulting in 72 research plots. The slow pyrolysis of coconut shell produced biochar with an average efficiency of 33.7% based on the dry weight of the feedstock. Optimal pyrolysis conditions, with temperatures ranging between 275°C and 485°C over 6 to 9 hours. Among the tested chili varieties, UNSIL-03 (V4) and Baja (V1) showed the highest growth performance, particularly in height and stem diameter, in biochar-amended soil. The application of 25% of the standard inorganic fertilizer dose, in combination with biochar, was sufficient to achieve optimal plant growth across most varieties, especially Baja (V1) and UNSIL-03 (V4).

Abstract

Abstract

Talas Pratama (Colocasia esculenta) is one of the promising local food crops that has recently gained popularity due to its high productivity, reaching 7–8 kg of tubers per plant at eight months of age. Alongside tuber production, this crop generates substantial agricultural waste in the form of petioles, stems, and leaves. At present, these by-products are commonly used as vegetables or as supplementary feed for fish. However, to enhance their economic value, such biomass needs to be processed into fish feed in the form of pellets, thereby creating added value that can potentially increase farmers’ income. The specific objectives of this study are to determine the value addition obtained from processing Talas Pratama waste into fish pellets and to calculate the profitability for small-scale entrepreneurs. In the long term, this research contributes to the development of an agribusiness model for local food commodities in line with the researcher’s established roadmap. The study employed a case study approach with a Talas Pratama farmer in Gunajaya Village, Manonjaya District, Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java. Both primary and secondary data were collected and analyzed using descriptive statistics and value-added analysis based on the Hayami method. The results of the study showed that processing Pratama Taro waste into fish pellets had an added value of Rp6.400,00/kg. and the profit obtained by entrepreneurs was Rp2.400,00/kg.

Abstract

A medicinal plant known as Java ginseng (Talinum paniculatum Gaertn.) may thrive in a variety of water availability situations. The quantity of endophytic bacteria a plant contains affects its capacity to survive in stressful environments. The objective of this study was to identify and separate endophytic bacteria from Javanese ginseng roots that had undergone various water availability treatments. A description method was utilized, in which isolated isolates were given morphological descriptions, assessed for similarity indexes, and then categorized. Endophytic microbe abundance and diversity varied according to this study, but plants treated with water scarcity displayed higher abundance and diversity. While endophytes of plant origin treated with 60% field capacity (FC) had the maximum diversity, root samples treated with 80% (FC) had the highest microbial abundance. Ten species groupings were created from the 42 isolated isolates based on a coefficient value of > 70%.
