Abstract

This study aims to examine the competence of librarians towards the accessibility of persons with disabilities in university libraries. This type of research uses the library research method. The data collection method is carried out by studying and exploring relevant sources, such as: 1) collecting sources (books, articles/journals) studied, 2) reading, recording, and processing sources (books, articles/journals) studied. The results showed that the study of librarian competencies on the accessibility of persons with disabilities in higher education libraries is needed in providing and providing library services for people with disabilities, including competencies in the field of library management, competencies in the field of information technology, competencies in the field of communication, personality competencies, and competencies in sciences that support librarianship.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kompetensi pustakawan terhadap aksesibilitas penyandang disabilitas di perpustakaan perguruan tinggi. Jenis penelitian menggunakan metode studi pustaka (library research). Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara menelaah dan mengeksplorasi sumber yang relevan, seperti: 1) mengumpulkan sumber (buku, artikel/jurnal) yang dikaji, 2) dibaca, dicatat, dan diolah sumber (buku, artikel/jurnal) yang dikaji. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kajian kompetensi pustakawan terhadap aksesibilitas penyandang disabilitas di perpustakaan perguruan tinggi sangat dibutuhkan dalam menyediakan dan memberikan pelayanan perpustakaan untuk pemustaka disabilitas, diantaranya kompetensi di bidang pengelolaan perpustakaan, kompetensi di bidang teknologi informasi, kompetensi di bidang komunikasi, kompetensi kepribadian, dan kompetensi ilmu-ilmu yang mendukung kepustakawanan.

Abstract

The health and safety of librarians is an obstacle in realizing excellent service performance in libraries, especially during the adaptation period of new habits. This is the basis for this writing. This study aims to determine the strategies and constraints of the UPT Library of Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh in implementing the occupational health and safety of librarians during the adaptation period of new habits. This study uses qualitative research methods, namely data collection is done by interview, observation and documentation. The subjects of this study were the head of the library and the librarian of the UPT Library of UIN Ar-Raniry. The results showed that the policy of the UPT Library of UIN Ar-Raniy was good, but the standards and provision of infrastructure that supported the health and safety of librarians during the adaptation period to new habits were still not optimal. Thus, the UPT Library of UIN Ar-Raniry needs to review and improve the provision of occupational health and safety facilities for librarians.

Abstract

The growing fighting spirit of the Acehnese people against the Dutch colonialists has been documented in history. One factor that significantly influenced this heroic spirit was the Hikayat Prang Sabi (The letter literature of war). How did this text shape the courageous spirit of the Acehnese in their resistance against the invaders? This paper examines the influence of Hikayat Prang Sabi (HPS) on its readers and the broader community. This study aims to reveal the impact of Hikayat Prang Sabi on Acehnese society. The theoretical framework used is the sociology of literature, focusing on the relationship between author, the literary work, and the reading public. The methodology employed is a descriptive qualitative approach that draws on literary sociology. The results indicate that HPS was a significant literary work that deeply affected its readers, especially the Acehnese who embraced it. The creation of HPS by Tgk. Chik Pante Kulu was closely tied to the political conditions in Aceh at the time, as the region was engaged in conflict with Dutch military force. During the Aceh-Dutch war, HPS was read before going to battle until it was confiscated and destroyed by the Dutch. Even after the war, HPS remained a crucial reference for the Acehnese in rebuilding political power.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of the MTsS Ulumul Quran library in supporting the religious moderation program and the strategies used by the MTsS Ulumul Quran library in implementing the religious moderation program among madrasahs. Based on data found in the field, the MTsS Ulumul Quran library together with teachers have made efforts to increase awareness and understanding of students about religious moderation, provide a religious moderation reading corner, and expand access to digital information. The method used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data collection was obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. The subject in this study was a librarian who was selected using the purposive sampling technique. The results of the study indicate that the role of the MTsS Ulumul Quran library in implementing the religious moderation as the followings: as the main source of teaching and learning activities, developing reading interests and habits, a strategic place to find information, a place to establish communication between users, as an agent of change, builder, and preservation of culture, and the level of community progress. This study also revealed several obstacles faced by the library, namely limited collections, difficulty in attracting students' interest in reading, and lack of discussion space in the library. The implementation of the "Rakan Lima" strategy with a focus on increasing understanding of religious moderation and providing a special reading corner for religious moderation shows the library's commitment to building a tolerant, peaceful, and culturally diverse madrasah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran perpustakaan MTsS Ulumul Quran dalam mendukung program moderasi beragama serta strategi yang dilakukan perpustakaan MTsS Ulumul Quran dalam mengimplementasikan program moderasi beragama di kalangan madrasah. Berdasarkan data yang ditemukan di lapangan, perpustakaan MTsS Ulumul Quran bersama dengan guru telah berupaya dalam meningkatkan kesadaran dan pemahaman santri tentang moderasi beragama, menyediakan pojok baca moderasi beragama, dan memperluas akses informasi digital. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Pengumpulan data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini 1 orang pustakawan yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perpustakaan telah berperan dalam mendukung program moderasi beragama dengan menjadikan perpustakaannya sebagai sumber utama kegiatan belajar mengajar , pengembangan minat dan kebiasaan membaca terkait, tempat strategis dalam mencari informasi, wadah menjalin komunikasi antar pengguna, sebagai agen perubahan, pembangun, dan pelestarian budaya, dan tingkatan kemajuan masyarakat. Walaupun demikian ,penelitian ini juga mengungkap beberapa kendala yang dihadapi oleh perpustakaan yaitu keterbatasan koleksi, sulitnya menarik minat baca santri, dan kurangnya ruang diskusi di perpustakaan. Penerapan strategi “Rakan Lima” dengan fokus pada peningkatan pemahaman moderasi beragama dan penyediaan pojok baca khusus moderasi beragama menunjukkan komitmen perpustakaan dalam membangun madrasah yang toleran, damai, dan menghargai keragaman budaya.

Abstract

The ideovisual reading technique is the "Implementation of the Ideovisual Reading Technique to Support the School Literacy Movement in Special Schools for the Deaf (SLB-B) under the YPAC Foundation for Child Development (YPAC) Banda Aceh." The aim is to understand the implementation of ideovisual reading for deaf students in SLB-B YPAC Banda Aceh and identify the challenges faced in applying ideovisual reading at SLB-B YPAC Banda Aceh. The subjects of this study are three high school teachers from SLB-B YPAC Banda Aceh. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that ideovisual reading is implemented in teaching deaf students at SLB-B YPAC Banda Aceh through the stages of the School Literacy Movement (GLS), which consist of planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. In the planning stage, adjustments are made to materials according to students' needs and the planning of school literacy movement activities. The implementation stage involves applying ideovisual reading, teacher-student interactions, and student participation in the school literacy movement. In the evaluation stage, assessments are conducted on the consistency of using visual media in learning, the intensity of literacy application, the variety of reading materials, the frequency of book borrowing, and the presentation of information to students. Ideovisual reading has become a technique used by teachers to deliver materials, thus enhancing the literacy skills of deaf students. However, its application at SLB-B YPAC Banda Aceh faces minor challenges, including a lack of supporting tools, limited teacher skills in using ideovisual media, and differences in learning curricula. The solutions to these challenges include providing the necessary equipment by the school and training teachers in ideovisual reading skills. Thus, the implementation of ideovisual reading media can be further developed to support the literacy development of deaf students at SLB-B YPAC Banda Aceh. Abstract

Indonesia has a rich cultural diversity, including Aceh, which is known for its history and traditions. However, globalization and modernization have led to cultural shifts, especially among the younger generation, who are increasingly exposed to new values. Libraries play a crucial role in cultural preservation, one of which is through the archival diorama at the Aceh Library and Archives Office, which integrates archives, art, and technology to enhance cultural literacy. This study employs a qualitative research method using interviews, observations, and documentation techniques. The findings indicate that the archival diorama is effective in improving cultural and historical literacy in Aceh. However, challenges such as the lack of descriptions in archival visualizations and limited individual access remain. Therefore, it is recommended to enhance information presentation, incorporate interactive technology, and expand promotional efforts to increase public engagement with the diorama. ABSTRAK Indonesia memiliki keberagaman budaya yang kaya, termasuk Aceh, yang dikenal dengan sejarah dan adat istiadatnya. Namun, globalisasi dan modernisasi menyebabkan pergeseran budaya, terutama di kalangan generasi muda yang semakin terpapar nilai-nilai baru. Perpustakaan memiliki peran penting dalam melestarikan budaya, salah satunya dengan diorama kearsipan di Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Aceh yang memadukan arsip, seni, dan teknologi untuk memperkuat literasi budaya. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan kualitatif dengan mengadopsi berbagai teknik pengumpulan data, termasuk wawancara mendalam, observasi langsung, serta analisis dokumentas. Hasilnya memperlihatkan bahwa diorama kearsipan berhasil dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang budaya dan sejarah Aceh. Namun, terdapat kendala seperti minimnya deskripsi pada visualisasi arsip dan keterbatasan akses individu. Oleh karena itu, disarankan untuk meningkatkan inovasi penyajian informasi, menambahkan teknologi interaktif, serta memperluas promosi agar lebih banyak masyarakat dapat memanfaatkan diorama.

Abstract

Many studies on poverty have been conducted using a development approach, which has evolved to include typologies of poverty (structural and cultural poverty), factors causing poverty, and government policies to combat it. One of the current focuses is the feminization of poverty, given that women are a large social entity but are structurally vulnerable. This article explores the relationship between local government policies and women's poverty, particularly the implementation of Islamic Sharia law in Aceh as a local policy. While Sharia policies are nominally intended to provide protection and security for women, in practice, these policies have not been fully gender-responsive. Research findings indicate that poor women in Aceh face double pressures due to economic poverty and social restrictions based on conservative interpretations of Sharia law and a strong patriarchal culture. Through a qualitative approach and feminist political economy analysis, this article concludes that local policies that do not integrate a gender perspective actually exacerbate the feminization of poverty. Therefore, participatory and inclusive Islamic gender justice-based policies are needed to create effective protection and empowerment for poor women in Aceh.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi aksesibilitas fisik dan layanan bagi penyandang disabilitas fisik di Perpustakaan Kota Banda Aceh, sejalan dengan Peraturan Walikota Nomor 14 Tahun 2017 tentang Perencanaan Pembangunan Inklusif. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode deskriptif, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur, observasi langsung, dan Focus Group Discussion (FGD), yang mengacu pada standar IFLA dan Peraturan Menteri Pekerjaan Umum Nomor 30 Tahun 2006. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fasilitas fisik di perpustakaan, seperti area parkir, ram, tangga, dan toilet, belum memenuhi standar aksesibilitas yang diharapkan. Selain itu, format media yang disediakan, seperti buku dan bahan bacaan, juga tidak sesuai untuk penyandang disabilitas, yang menciptakan hambatan dalam pemanfaatan layanan perpustakaan secara optimal. Penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya perbaikan terhadap fasilitas fisik dan penyediaan format media yang inklusif untuk meningkatkan aksesibilitas. Selain itu, perpustakaan perlu melibatkan komunitas disabilitas dalam proses perbaikan dan pengembangan layanan agar dapat memenuhi kebutuhan semua pengguna. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini memberikan rekomendasi untuk meningkatkan aksesibilitas dan kualitas layanan di Perpustakaan Kota Banda Aceh, sehingga dapat menciptakan lingkungan yang lebih inklusif bagi penyandang disabilitas.ABSTRACTThis study aims to evaluate the physical accessibility and services for individuals with physical disabilities at the Banda Aceh City Library, in line with Mayor Regulation Number 14 of 2017 concerning Inclusive Development Planning. Using a qualitative approach and descriptive method, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, direct observations, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD), referring to IFLA standards and the Minister of Public Works Regulation Number 30 of 2006. The data analysis techniques employed in this study include data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the physical facilities at the library, such as parking areas, ramps, stairs, and restrooms, do not meet the expected accessibility standards. Additionally, the media formats provided, such as books and reading materials, are not suitable for individuals with disabilities, creating barriers to optimal utilization of library services. This study emphasizes the importance of improving physical facilities and providing inclusive media formats to enhance accessibility. Furthermore, the library needs to involve the disability community in the improvement and development of services to meet the needs of all users. Thus, this research provides recommendations for enhancing accessibility and service quality at the Banda Aceh City Library, creating a more inclusive environment for individuals with disabilities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi program kelas menulis komunitas Kanot Bu terhadap literasi informasi. Aspek evaluasi dan literasi informasi mencakupi bentuk kegiatan program, dampak terhadap literasi informasi, perubahan cara mengakses informasi, umpan balik peserta dan anggota komunitas, penghargaan dan pengakuan serta kendala yang dihadapi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Pengumpulan data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini 5 orang peserta dan 3 orang anggota komunitas yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tahap reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan data yang ditemukan di lapangan, komunitas Kanot Bu telah berupaya dalam memperkuat budaya literasi informasi melalui tulisan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa program ini menghasilkan pandangan yang positif dari peserta terhadap kegiatan menulis serta meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis mereka dalam mencari dan mengakses informasi menggunakannya dalam tulisan mereka. Meskipun demikian, terdapat beberapa kendala yang dihadapi peserta yaitu keterbatasan waktu, akses yang sulit menuju lokasi serta rendahnya tingkat kepercayaan diri terhadap kemampuan menulis peserta. Oleh karena itu, program ini disarankan untuk dipertahankan dan dikembangkan agar dapat menjangkau lebih banyak peserta dalam memperkuat literasi informasi.
