Abstract

Stunting prevention is designated as a national priority program by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, by developing the National Strategy (Stranas) for the Acceleration of Stunting Prevention 2018-2024. The government targets the national stunting rate to drop to 14% in 2024. Stunting is one of the indicators of health development in the National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN). By 2045, the prevalence of stunting in children under five in Indonesia is targeted to reach 5 percent. The use of local food can be one of the efforts to overcome stunting, namely by utilizing local plants as food. This utilization in handling stunting can be done through cadre empowerment. In terms of human resources, Pandanrejo Village has various active organizations such as health cadres that can be mobilized to actively monitor the nutritional status of toddlers in Pandanrejo Village. Meanwhile, from the potential natural resources, one of them is mustard plants. The service activities carried out aim to increase the role of cadres in efforts to reduce stunting in Pandanrejo Village by utilizing the local potential of mustard plants. The methods carried out by the team are counseling and training. The series of service activities can be carried out well based on the results of the evaluation of the implementation team, there is an increase in the role of cadres in efforts to reduce stunting rates through the sustainability of mustard crop processing.

Abstract

TB cases in East Java in 2023 increased. In the Wagir Health Centre area in September 2023 there were 66 cases from July to September 2023, where 2% of TB patients were found to be non-compliant with taking medication, there was still low awareness of family members of patients to conduct sputum examination to the health centre independently. In addition, not all cadres understand how TB is transmitted, and nutrition for TB patients. To overcome this, a community service activity ‘Improving Primary Health Care as an Effort to Control TB in the Wagir Health Centre Working Area’ was carried out. The purpose of this activity is to increase the role of Puskesmas in TB control efforts. The method of community service is by implementing a programme of supervision of taking medication for TB patients, contact investigation and health education activities for cadres. Activities were carried out by a team from the Faculty of Health Sciences, Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University Malang, the nurse in charge of the Wagir Health Centre Area TB control programme, and cadres. Activities were carried out from February to March 2024 in the Wagir Health Centre Working Area, Malang Regency. The results of the implementation of the drug compliance monitoring programme for 10 TB patients, contact investigations for 45 people in contact with patients, and health education for 35 cadres. It is hoped that monitoring and evaluation of the programme from the Puskesmas is needed periodically, to optimise the TB control programme in the Wagir Health Centre Area.

Abstract

The overall prevalence of dry skin was found to be 60%. Decreased skin moisture levels can result from various factors, including cold weather, aging, and certain medical conditions. Dry skin is often accompanied by itching and discomfort. The application of moisturizers can improve dry skin and help maintain hydration. The objective of this study was to develop an aloe vera-shea butter lotion gel formulation to retain skin moisture. A descriptive observational design was employed to characterize the properties of the aloe vera-shea butter lotion gel formula. The study included 27 adult participants, all aged over 18 and without a history of allergies. The formulation contained aloe vera leaves, shea butter, vegetable glycerin, xanthan gum, Geogard 221, and rose essential oil. Skin moisture levels were measured using a skin moisture detector. The results showed that the lotion gel had a pH of 5, a homogeneous consistency, a spread ability of 6 cm, a white color, a characteristic aloe vera and rose scent, and a thick, smooth texture. An irritation test revealed that 96.3% of participants experienced no irritation. Additionally, the formulation significantly increased skin moisture, transitioning from dry to moisturized skin. The average percentage increase in skin moisture was 23.25% at 1 minute, 34.96% at 3 minutes, and 34.69% at 5 minutes after application. In conclusion, the aloe vera-shea butter lotion gel formulation effectively enhanced skin moisture levels. This formula can be used as an intervention to address dry skin or moisture depletion in future studies.

Abstract

Hypervolemia worsens the condition of clients with chronic kidney disease, kidney function will be gradually disrupted. Handling hypervolemia is one of the focuses of nursing care in patients with kidney failure to overcome fluid accumulation. The purpose of this study was to explore nursing actions using outcome standards and nursing interventions to overcome hypervolemia in patients with chronic kidney failure. The methodology of this study is qualitative with a case study approach including direct observation, physical examination, interviews, and analysis of laboratory examination findings as a series in a case study approach. The analysis uses descriptive analysis based on the concept of SDKI, SLKI and SIKI theories. The number of clients was 3 people with hypervolemia nursing problems. The signs and symptoms found in the three clients were orthopnea, dyspnea, extremity edema, increased JVP, positive hepatojugular reflex, oliguria, decreased Hb/Ht and increased blood pressure. Based on the evaluation results, orthopnea and dyspnea decreased, edema decreased sufficiently, urine output increased sufficiently, JVP improved sufficiently, blood pressure improved sufficiently and Hb/Ht improved sufficiently so that it was concluded that the hypervolemia nursing problem had been partially resolved. Various interventions are performed including monitoring hemodynamic status, fluid intake and output, signs of hemoconcentration, raising the head of the bed 30 to 40 degrees, administering oxygen, and providing instructions for limiting fluid intake. Most clients show improvement in symptoms but still require further monitoring.

Abstract

Background: The acceleration of booster vaccination targets a minimum of 50 percent people aged 18 years and above while still prioritizing high-risk groups, such as the elderly. This is crucial to extend the protection of the Covid-19 vaccine and ensure that there is no surge in cases in the future. Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the determinant factors of Covid-19 booster acceptance among adolescents aged 18-24 years. Methods: The present study adopted an analytic observation method with a cross-sectional approach. It took place in East Java and involved 1415 adolescents selected through a simple random sampling. The dependent variable was Covid-19 booster acceptance among these adolescents. The independent variables were age, education, gender, and family income. The data were obtained through a questionnaire. They processed using bivariate analysis to investigate the relationship between the dependent and independent variables. To determine the acceptance of adolescents towards Covid-19 booster, it used multivariate logistic regression. Results: Age (OR= 1.71, CI 95% = 1.25 to 2.3, p= 0.001), education (OR= 1.56, CI 95% = 1.18 to 2.08, p= 0.002), gender (OR= 1.51, CI 95% = 0.14 to 1.99, p= 0.004), and family income (OR= 1.36, CI 95% = 0.10 to 1.85, p= 0.052) hold a statistically significant relationship with Covid-19 booster acceptance among adolescents. Conclusion: Age, education, gender, and family income are factors affecting Covid-19 booster acceptance among adolescents. Government and other relevant stakeholders are expected to take comprehensive measures to increase Covid-19 booster vaccination among adolescents aged 18-24 years.

Abstract

For cancer patients the pain will have an impact on quality of life, is complex and greatly affects daily activities. Pain management is currently felt to be not enough to relieve complaints. One major obstacle to improvement is narrow assessment, as well as an assessment focus that does not consider the multidimensional nature of pain. The Center for Symptom Evaluation in Cancer Care has developed a specific pain assessment for cancer patients, the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI). The purpose of this study is to prove and see the suitability of the Indonesian version of BPI as a study of pain in cancer patients at RSCM Jakarta. Research respondents were 20 cancer patients with pain and observed using the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI) instrument. Based on the results of the Cronbach’s alpha test from BPI it is known as 0.723. These results show that BPI is appropriate and consistent in assessing cancer pain, especially chronic pain, and has a good correlation based on the Spearman correlation with ECOG values (r = -0.75, p = 0.0001). The sensitivity test is known to be 95.7%, specificity 100 %, PPV 100%, NPV 65.67%, LR (-) 0.05, with diagnostic accuracy of 95.73%. BPI is a more multidimensional assessment as a description of biological, psychological, social and cultural conditions of cancer patients who experience pain, so that BPI is suitable for use in the scope of oncology nursing in assessing chronic pain in cancer patients.
