Abstract

Colonoscopy is an examination of the colorectum and terminal ileum which is carried out by inserting a scope with a camera and a flexible light source through the anus. Colons that are still dirty or not clean, up to 20-30% of colonoscopies are reported to be canceled or rescheduled. The muscle tone of the abdomen, pelvis and diaphragm is influenced by physical activity which facilitates defecation. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between physical activity which influences the level of colonic cleanliness in colonoscopy patients. The study involved 75 subjects who underwent colonoscopy procedure in November-December 2023 using the WHO GPAQ 2016 questionnaires and Boston Bowel Preparation Scale (BBPS). The design uses quantitative descriptive methods with cross sectional analysis. The data obtained was then subjected to statistical tests using SPSS chi-square. The test results obtained a p-value of 0.005 (p < 0.05). The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between physical activity and colon cleanliness.

Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is an irreversible condition characterized by structural and functional abnormalities of the kidneys. Patients in the early stages of CKD usually do not experience any complaints until a decline in kidney function necessitates hemodialysis. Patients undergoing hemodialysis gradually experience a reduction in urea levels. Daily dietary habits and patient compliance play a crucial role in regulating urea levels. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between the frequency of hemodialysis and the URR (Urea Reduction Ratio) results in CKD patients at RSUD Tarakan. This research was carried out from August 2024 to January 2025. It is a descriptive correlational study employing a cross-sectional approach with total sampling, involving 93 respondents. The results showed that the majority of respondents (82.8%) regularly underwent hemodialysis twice a week, and their average URR increased by 79.6%. Cross-tabulation analysis yielded a p-value of 0.026 (< 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between hemodialysis frequency and URR values in patients at RSUD Tarakan. The strength of the association was determined to be r = 0.231, implying a low/weak correlation between the hemodialysis frequency and URR values. It is recommended that the hospital provide educational sessions or seminars on the importance of hemodialysis to enhance patient motivation for undergoing the procedure.

Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) frequently occurs among nurses working in Inpatient Installations. 73.3% of LBP cases are exacerbated by non-ergonomic work positions. This study aims to determine the relationship between work position and complaints of LBP among nurses in the Inpatient Installation of the National Brain Center Hospital Prof. Dr. dr. Mahar Mardjono Jakarta. This research employs a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach, involving 77 nurses in the Inpatient Installation of the National Brain Center Hospital. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires, and data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank correlation coefficient. The results of this study indicate a relationship between work position and complaints of LBP in the Inpatient Installation of the National Brain Center Hospital Prof. Dr. dr. Mahar Mardjono Jakarta. The correlation test showed a significant relationship (p-value = 0.023 < 0.05) with a low correlation level (r = 0.258) and a positive correlation direction. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between work position and complaints of LBP among nurses in the Inpatient Installation of the National Brain Center Hospital Prof. Dr. dr. Mahar Mardjono Jakarta. The lower the risk of musculoskeletal disorders due to work position, the lower the level of disability due to LBP complaints. Nurses need to adopt ergonomic work positions to minimize the risk of LBP complaints. Hospitals should provide training on ergonomic work positions for nurses, supply ergonomic work equipment, and maintain the health of nurses to minimize LBP complaints.
