Abstract

Cucumber plant (Cucumis sativus L.) is a vegetable plant that has many ingredients which can be used as vegetables, fresh vegetables, salads, or pickles and also cucumber plants can be beneficial for health. Production of cucumber plants in Indonesia from year to year has always decreased. The cause of the low production of cucumber plants in Indonesia is due to several factors, namely environmental factors, cultivation methods and also due to pests and diseases. This study aims to determine and understand the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers on the growth and production of cucumber plants. The research design used was a randomized block design (RBD) consisting of 5 treatments repeated 3 times, namely 6 kg of goat manure/polybag (P0), 3 kg of goat manure/polybag + 2.5 g of NPK fertilizer/polybag (P1 ), 4.5 kg goat manure/polybag + 1.25 g NPK/polybag (P2), 1.5 kg goat manure/polybag + 3.75 g NPK fertilizer/polybag (P3), 5 g NPK fertilizer/ polybag (P4). The results of the analysis of the variety of application of organic fertilizer at a dose of 6 kg gave optimal results on plant height and number of fruit on cucumber plants but not on the number of leaves, age at the start of flowering, and fruit weight on cucumber plants.

Abstract

Mangroves are plants typical of tidal boundaries, beaches and around river mouths. Mangrove vegetation in Induha Village is spread along the coast. Information regarding the structure and composition of mangrove vegetation is still lacking, so research is needed. This research was conducted to determine the structure and composition of mangrove vegetation in Induha Latambaga Village, Kolaka Regency. This study used the point centered sampling method and the observed parameters were seedlings, saplings and trees as well as the composition of the mangrove vegetation. The results showed that Rhizophora apiculata had the highest relative dominance in seedlings (42.13%), saplings (57.50%) and trees (38.31%). Relative frequency in seedlings (35%), saplings (45%) and trees (34.5%). Relative LBA for seedlings (50%), saplings (84.83%) and trees (52.34%). KR in saplings (57.2%) and trees (35.5%), as well as IVI in seedlings (136.1%), saplings (248%) and trees (148.1%). Vegetation composition consisted of 3 families (Rhizophoraceae, Acanthaceae and Sonneratiaceae) and 4 species (R. apiculata, R. mucronata, R. stylosa and B. cylindrical). Environmental factors in Induha Village support the survival of mangroves, especially Rhizophora apiculata.

Abstract

Chili is one of the most valuable horticultural commodities, yet production is declining year after year. Fruit fly pests, which cause losses of 30-60%, are a stumbling block to growing chili production. Several types of aromatic vegetable extracts were used in this investigation, including clove leaves, babadotan, citronella leaves, and basil leaves, all of which have been found to contain methyl eugenol components. The goals of this study were to find the most efficient form of aromatic vegetable extract for usage as a fruit fly pest attractant and to see how different aromatic vegetable extracts affected the intensity of fruit fly pests.  The treatments were set up in a completely random order and were repeated three times. Planting chilies, creating aromatic vegetable extracts, making traps, deploying traps in the field, estimating the number of trapped fruit fly populations, and finally assessing the results were all part of this study. P1 = clove leaf extract, P2 = babadotan leaf extract, P3 = citronella leaf extract, and P4 = basil leaf extract are the therapies that will be provided. Bactrocera dorsalis was identified as the captured fruit fly species. The clove leaf extract treatment had the most fruit flies captured (35.67), while the babadotan leaf extract had the least (29.76), but none of the treatments were substantially different
