Abstract

Traffic safety in mountainous regions is influenced by the interaction between infrastructure conditions, traffic exposure, and road user behavior. This study aims to analyze traffic accident characteristics and evaluate the influence of road user perceptions on accident risk on the Makale–Rantepao National Road in Tana Toraja, Indonesia. The study employed an integrated quantitative approach by combining objective historical data and subjective perception data within a single traffic safety framework. Secondary data consisted of traffic accident records from 2022–2025 and traffic exposure indicators, including vehicle ownership and population data from 2021–2024. Primary data were collected through a questionnaire survey involving 110 road users conducted in early 2026. Data analysis was performed using the Accident Equivalent Number (AEN) method, traffic exposure ratio analysis, descriptive statistics, and multiple linear regression. The results indicate that traffic accidents in Tana Toraja fluctuated during the study period, with the highest AEN recorded in 2022 at 815 and the lowest in 2025 at 351. Meanwhile, the vehicle-to-population ratio increased from 0.322 in 2021 to 0.373 in 2024, indicating increasing traffic pressure and exposure risk. Regression analysis demonstrates that road surface conditions, road safety facilities, and road user behavior significantly influence accident risk perception, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.457. Among the independent variables, road surface condition showed the strongest influence on perceived accident risk. The findings suggest that integrating accident severity indicators, traffic exposure, and road user perceptions provides a more comprehensive understanding of traffic safety conditions in mountainous areas. This study contributes to the development of an integrated traffic safety assessment framework that can support sustainable road safety management and policy formulation in developing regions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze household trip generation in semi-rural areas of North Toraja based on household characteristics and regional transportation conditions. The study was conducted in Pangli and Sa'dan Matallo located along the Rantepao–Sa’dan provincial road corridor. This research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method with 181 household respondents. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive analysis, binary logistic regression, and Chi-Square analysis with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics software. The results indicate that vehicle ownership and number of family members significantly influence the probability of household trip generation, with significance values of 0.006 and 0.000, respectively. Meanwhile, household income does not significantly affect household trip generation categories. The Chi-Square analysis shows that travel time has a significant relationship with trip generation categories with a significance value of 0.033, while transportation mode and travel distance do not show significant relationships. In addition, regional transportation characteristics indicate an increase in population and motor vehicle growth in North Toraja Regency from 2021 to 2024, with a coefficient of determination value of , indicating a very strong relationship between population growth and motor vehicle growth. The findings suggest that household trip generation in semi-rural areas is influenced by a combination of household socio-economic characteristics, regional development, and transportation conditions. This study is expected to provide recommendations for regional transportation planning and mobility management in semi-rural areas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan agregat bulat terhadap kinerja campuran AC‑WC dengan kadar aspal tetap 5,5% menggunakan pengujian Marshall. Variasi persentase agregat bulat yang digunakan adalah 0%, 10%, 15%, dan 20% pada fraksi agregat yang tertahan saringan saringan 1/2", 3/8", No.4 dan No. 8. Parameter yang dievaluasi meliputi stabilitas Marshall, flow, serta karakteristik volumetrik campuran berupa VIM, VMA, dan VFB, kemudian dibandingkan dengan persyaratan Spesifikasi Umum Bina Marga 2018 Revisi 2. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa penambahan agregat bulat menyebabkan tren penurunan stabilitas Marshall 1.177 kg pada campuran tanpa agregat bulat menjadi 885 kg pada 20% agregat bulat, meskipun seluruhnya masih memenuhi syarat. Dari sisi volumetrik, VIM dan VMA meningkat seiring bertambahnya agregat bulat, sedangkan VFB menurun, namun semua nilai masih berada dalam rentang yang disyaratkan, sehingga secara numerik campuran masih memenuhi kriteria kepadatan dan pengisian aspal. Nilai flow meningkat dengan bertambahnya agregat bulat, dan pada kadar 20% telah melampaui batas maksimum yang diizinkan, menunjukkan kecenderungan campuran rentan terhadap deformasi permanen. Secara praktis, hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa penggunaan agregat bulat dalam campuran AC‑WC dengan kadar aspal 5,5% sebaiknya dibatasi hingga sekitar 15% agar seluruh parameter Marshall dan volumetrik tetap berada dalam batas spesifikasi dengan margin keamanan yang memadai terhadap beban lalu lintas dan pengaruh air.

Abstract

Bangkitan perjalanan merupakan indikator penting dalam perencanaan transportasi karena menggambarkan kebutuhan mobilitas masyarakat berdasarkan karakteristik sosial ekonomi rumah tangga. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi bangkitan perjalanan masyarakat di Kelurahan Pangli, Kecamatan Sesean, Kabupaten Toraja Utara. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan analisis regresi linier berganda terhadap 90 responden yang ditentukan menggunakan rumus Slovin dari populasi 834 kepala keluarga. Rancangan awal penelitian melibatkan lima variabel bebas, yaitu kepemilikan kendaraan (X₁), jumlah anggota keluarga (X₂), jumlah anggota keluarga yang bekerja (X₃), jumlah anggota keluarga yang bersekolah (X₄), dan pendapatan rumah tangga (X₅), dengan bangkitan perjalanan sebagai variabel terikat. Sebelum analisis regresi dilakukan, data diuji menggunakan uji asumsi klasik. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa variabel jumlah anggota keluarga yang bekerja dan jumlah anggota keluarga yang bersekolah mengalami gejala multikolinearitas sehingga dieliminasi dari model. Analisis regresi akhir menunjukkan bahwa jumlah anggota keluarga dan pendapatan rumah tangga berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap bangkitan perjalanan, sedangkan kepemilikan kendaraan tidak berpengaruh signifikan. Model memiliki koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 0,563, yang menunjukkan bahwa 56,3% variasi bangkitan perjalanan dapat dijelaskan oleh model, sedangkan 43,7% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain di luar penelitian. Hasil penelitian memberikan masukan bagi perencanaan transportasi berbasis karakteristik masyarakat di wilayah pedesaan.
