Abstract

General Background Project scheduling plays a crucial role in ensuring time and cost efficiency in industrial operations. Specific Background In electrical installation projects, inaccurate planning often leads to delays and increased costs. Knowledge Gap However, optimization of project scheduling using probabilistic methods is still not fully applied in small-scale industrial projects. Aims This study aims to evaluate project scheduling using the Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) to improve time and cost planning. Results The results indicate that project duration decreased from 222 minutes to 163 minutes, while project costs were reduced from Rp232,362 to Rp170,608, resulting in significant savings without compromising work quality. The probability of project completion reached 99%, indicating a high level of planning reliability. Novelty This study provides a quantitative application of PERT in electrical installation projects with measurable efficiency outcomes. Implications The findings support the use of PERT as a reliable tool for optimizing project scheduling and cost management in similar industrial contexts. Abstract

General Background Work-related musculoskeletal disorders are often caused by non-ergonomic working postures in manual activities. Specific Background Fabric measuring and cutting processes are commonly performed in awkward positions such as bending and squatting, increasing ergonomic risk. Knowledge Gap However, limited studies evaluate these activities using combined RULA and NERPA assessment methods. Aims This study aims to analyze the working posture of operators in fabric measuring and cutting processes using RULA and NERPA methods. Results The findings show that the measuring activity obtains a RULA score of 6, indicating moderate risk, while the cutting activity reaches a score of 7, indicating high risk requiring immediate action. Using NERPA, both activities show a score of 6, indicating moderate risk requiring improvement. Novelty This study applies dual ergonomic assessment methods to identify risk levels in specific textile work activities. Implications The results support the need for ergonomic workstation design, including the proposed worktable, to reduce posture-related risks and improve worker safety. Abstract

General Background: Productivity and machine effectiveness are critical factors in manufacturing systems to ensure product quality and operational efficiency. Specific Background: In PVC pipe production, machine downtime and performance issues often reduce overall productivity levels. Knowledge Gap: Limited integration of Overall Equipment Effectiveness and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis is applied to identify root causes and prioritize improvements in machine performance. Aims: This study aims to evaluate machine productivity using OEE and determine improvement priorities using FMEA in a PVC pipe production process. Results: The analysis shows an average availability of 91%, performance rate of 80%, and quality rate of 93%, resulting in an OEE value of 68%, which is below the ideal standard of 85%. The main causes of low effectiveness are related to downtime factors such as pipe defects, machine instability, and operator-related issues. FMEA analysis identifies priority improvements with the highest Risk Priority Number of 648, followed by 392 and 378. Novelty: The study combines OEE and FMEA to provide a structured evaluation of machine productivity and prioritized corrective actions. Implications: The findings offer practical guidance for improving machine performance and reducing downtime in manufacturing operations. Abstract

The increasing production demand at UKM Gudang Tas has significantly increased operators' workload, leading the company to implement overtime and reduce break times to meet production targets. These conditions have resulted in increased work errors, higher defect rates, and decreased productivity. This study aims to analyze operators' workload using the Full Time Equivalent (FTE) method, evaluate physical workload using the Cardiovascular Load (CVL) method, and develop work system improvement proposals through the Macroergonomic Analysis and Design (MEAD) approach. Data were collected through direct observations, work time measurements, interviews, and documentation. The FTE analysis showed that the cutting, stitching, and finishing processes had FTE values of 1.538, 1.765, and 1.490, respectively, indicating overload conditions, while the material preparation process had an FTE value of 1.150, which was within the normal category. The CVL analysis revealed that 60% of the operators in the stitching process required improvements in working conditions. Furthermore, the MEAD analysis identified work organization, work methods, and material handling as the primary variances contributing to the excessive workload. Based on these findings, several improvement proposals were developed, including job redistribution, work procedure standardization, layout redesign, material handling improvements, and operator training. The implementation of these recommendations is expected to create a more effective work system, balance operator workload, reduce non-value-added activities, and improve the company's productivity.
