Abstract This research is about the writing of a package book containing information of local-bared content herbal medicines. The purpose of this research is to explain kinds of Minangkabau herbal local plants and their benefits. Further, it will describe the processes of writing the book. This research is conducted by using descriptive method and the data are collacted through observation and interview toward local community who own herbal plants in RT 02/RW 11 Dadok Tunggul Hitam and Lubuk Minturun Agro-tourism located in Koto Tangah sub-discrict in Padang. After the data are analyzed, it can be conducted that there are some stages and designs in writing the book. The stage are: (a) identifying the reader needs; (b) set topic of information; (c) collecting informations; (d) evaluating the information validity; (e) analyzing, selecting, and eztracting the information; (f) repackaging information; and (g) defining the readers. The designs are: (1) composing the framework of writing; (2) making cover; (3) making introduction; (4) making table of contents; (5) the content of the book; (6) closing; and (7) back cover.Keywords: information, package of information, and herbal medicine

This paper discussed of the School Library Directory about Padang Panjang the province of West Sumatra. The preparation of this directory aims to create a product that can help users easily find information relating to school libraries around the town of Padang Panjang. In this paper the discussed about creation directory the school library around the town of Padang Panjang the province of West Sumatra. Methods used in writing this paper is the method descriptive. Technique data collection who writers included is direct observation, interview, direct observation, and the literature study. Based on the discussion we can conclude that measures in the manufacture of directory of the school library around Padang Panjang the province of west sumatra following; first, collected data on the school library around Padang Panjang; second, sorts data obtained; third, make a directory of the school library around Padang Panjang; the fourth, make a design of the cover.Keyword: Directory, Padang Panjang, school library.

Abstract In this paper discussed about Student Perceptions of Musical Instruments in the Bung Hatta University Library in Reading Comfort. The purpose of this research is to describe students' perceptions of musical instruments in the Bung Hatta University Library in Padang in the comfort of reading. This research method uses a quantitative approach. Data collected by distributing questionnaires to visitors at the Bung Hatta University library. Samples taken as many as 100 respondents. The results of the questionnaire were compiled by recapitulating research results. The analysis is by describing the recapitulation results in one description to clarify the figures so that they are easy to understand. Based on the results of the study concluded as follows: 1) instrumental music playback was applied as noise to increase productivity in reading, most of the majority (78%) of respondents said they disagreed about the music in the library of Bung Hatta University, and most of the 39% of respondents stated less agree regarding Music playback can increase productivity in reading. 2) listening to music can improve concentration, most 43% of respondents said they disagree about music playback can increase concentration in reading., Most 39% of respondents said they disagree and 38% agreed that music can support reading activities. 3) listening to music can calm the mind, most 34% of respondents said that they disagree about playing music in the library making the mind calm in reading. 4) listening to music can reduce external sounds that can distract, most 41% of respondents said they disagree about playing music can reduce noise outside the library room, most of the majority of 38% of respondents said they disagree about feeling comfortable with the sound of music in the library, because listening to music can reduce external sound that distracts reading. 5) listening to music can affect the pulse and blood pressure in accordance with the frequency, tempo and volume, most 40% of respondents agree that playing music in a library with a volume that is too loud can affect heart rate and blood pressure. 6) music is an external factor that makes users feel comfortable when reading, most 41% of respondents agreed with the existence of music playback students feel comfortable in reading, most 34% of respondents said they disagree about the officers always playing music during visiting hours.Keywords: perception, musical instruments, comfort

The purpose of this paper is describing process and construction of thesis index (S2) annotated Indonesian Language Teaching study Program 2005-2013 in Undergraduate Program of Padang State University Library. Collecting the data was done by observation and directly participation by collecting data from authentic source. Data analysis is descriptive method. The process of construction this thesis index annotated was started by examining thesis information that will be indexed, and then selected, grouped, noted the data, created the annotation, determined the key words, created the thesis index, and typed the index. The purposes of this study were to the use of the library as a learning resource center for the community in the Kantor Arsip Perpustakaan dan Dokumentasi Kota Padang and what obstacles faced by people in the use of the library as a learning resource center. Data were collected through observation and interviews in the Kantor Arsip Perpustakaan dan Dokumentasi Kota Padang. The data were analyzed descriptively. Based on the results of the study be concluded the following: (1) the public use the library in the Kantor Arsip Perpustakaan dan Dokumentasi Kota Padang to add information in the learning activity, provide a reference or references to obtain learning materials, (2) the constraints in using the library, the lack of promotion of the library to the community, facilities and infrastructure that are less complete, less participating librarians, and collection is still not complete, (3) the business to be done by the use of the library in the library, the more optimal promotion, facilities and infrastructure that is equipped , as well as the training of librarians and collection more complete. Therefore it is advised, (1) the procurement of the library collection should pay attention to where the collection is much needed visitors as a source of learning, (2) the library should be to provide funds for the procurement of library collections and promotes both through mass media and electronic media so that the public know of the existence library; (3) librarians should be actively serving visitors to find the information needed. AbstractThis study aims to determine what information needs and how information seeking behavior of students of the Department of Indonesian Language Education at Bung Hatta University.Â The method used in this research is descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out by direct interviews with Indonesian Language Education Department students who were working on a thesis in the room of the Bung Hatta University Library thesis based on the interview grid provided by using a tool in the form of a Vivo Y83 pen as a tool. interview recorder.Â Based on the results of the study it can be concluded as follows. First, students of the Indonesian Language Education Department need information sources such as research journals, books, resource persons, and the internet in tracing information by considering the publication year. the collections in the Bung Hatta University library can be categorized as incomplete. Second, Indonesian Language Education Department students will seek information in other university libraries, and the Regional Library if the information needed cannot be found at the Bung Hatta University Library and visit the reading room and thesis room in information retrieval. OPAC Information Search tool (Online Public Access Catalog) has been used well in information retrieval at the Bung Hatta University Library so that the time needed to search for information can be shortened, namely 1 to 2 hours. Before searching for information, informants will record what things will be traced so that the information found can be used and according to needs.Keywords: information needs, information seeking behavior

This paper discusses the factors that affect the damage in the office archive libraries, archives and documentation of Bukittinggi. The purpose of this paper is: (1) Describe the intern factors affecting archives damage in Office Library, Archives and Documentation of Bukittinggi, (2) Describe the extern factors that influence damage records in the Office of Libraries, Archives and Documentation of Bukittinggi. From the results of this study concluded: (1) intern factor is the destructive factor derived from the archives. Factors damaging is the archive of the paper and the ink paper and ink as an object that can be easily damaged. For avoidance of anything like this, at the time of filing in paper and ink for choose a good quality that is not easily damaged archives and in doing maintenance, do so in accordance with the terms of the world of archives, (2) factor is a factor extern archives from destroyer from outside. Factors damaging records from outside is the temperature and humidity, as well as the use of dust and mishandling. This is caused by a lack of understanding of archivists in the process of maintenance records so that the archive was damaged and difficult to use anymore. In order for archive to be managed properly filing officer should provide equipment maintenance and managing archives in accordance with archival purposes. This paper aims at: first, describe the implementation of the information chancery dynamic in the management of the archive in an office of archives, Library and documentation in Solok. Second, describe the obstacles in the system of implementation information chancery dynamic in an office of archives, Library and documentation in Solok. Third, describe their effort to face obstacles in the application ofÂ information system chancery dynamic in the office of archives. Information are collected by observation, interviews and the literature study in the office of archives, library and documentation bookâ€™s solok. Analysis of data is undertaken on a sort of descriptive set with a qualitative approach. Based on the results of discussion can be concluded the following: First, management archive uses the information chancery dynamic that does not run well. Second, it lacksfacilities and infrastructure such as computers, scanner, servers and network and lack of human resources in the field of information technology. Third, needs for the additional facilities and infrastructure as well as the presence of socialization and training in the management of an electronic archive using information system dynamic chancery.Keyword: archive management, SIKD, electronic archive.

The purpose of this study is to describe the process of indexing journal annotated technology. Collection of annotated journal articles index technology done by observation and direct observation to collect data directly from the original source journals in library technology STMIK Indonesia Padang. Based on data analysis concluded, first, collecting journals done directly. Secondly, all journals that have been successfully traced and then grouped to be selected, the number of journals in the field of technology from 2010 -2012 there were six pieces journal article in which there are 70 titles. Fourth, collected from indexing keywords, author name, and journal title. fifth, the next step to do is typing an annotated index. Keywords: annotated index; indexing; articles index

AbstractThe purpose of this study were (1) for describe Strategy librarian investigation technique in record and library goverment west sumatera, and (2) describe librarian investigation information technique in record and library goverment west sumatera. Librarian and member of the library concering aout research data method with observation, interview and library study in record and library goverment west sumatera. Data analysis do with descriptive. On the strength of data analysis, have as conclusion that in Strategy librarian investigation technique in record and library goverment west sumatera has three strategy: (1) librarian strategy before do invetigation dor information, (2) librarian strategy while do investigation, and (3) librarian strategy in investigation of information, has covered: starting, monitoring, and extracting. Meanwhile, in librarian investigation information technique in record and library goverment west sumaterarefer that while do librarian investigation information using investigation of information gronded word and of inner word.Keywords: library;Â information literacy; and investigaion information.
