Abstract

This article discusses the problem of students’ poor understanding of a Biblical Christian Worldview (BCW) as related to their learning mathematics. The problem was discovered through tests and observations that the researcher conducted in a class of grade 11 Science-2 students at a high school in Toraja. The pre-cycle result showed that 23 students had a poor BCW understanding of mathematics. To improve students’ BCW understanding of mathematics, the researcher implemented the Bryan Smith Stage 2 Biblical Integration Model. The instruments that were used were teacher-mentor and peer-teacher observation sheets, student questionnaires, and simple understanding tests. Results showed improvements on the indicator of Creation from 96,2% in the first cycle to 100% in the second cycle, the indicator of Fall 100% in the first and the second cycles, and the indicator of Redemption from 88.8% in the first cycle to 92.5% in the second cycle. Over all, it could be concluded that the implementation of the Bryan Smith Stage 2 Biblical integration model could improve students’ BCW understanding in learning mathematics.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Artikel ini membahas permasalahan mengenai pemahaman Wawasan Kristen Alkitabiah (WAK) siswa yang rendah pada pembelajaran Matematika. Permasalahan tersebut ditemukan berdasarkan observasi dan tes yang dilakukan oleh peneliti di Kelas XI IPA-2 di suatu SMA di Toraja. Hasil prasiklus menunjukkan bahwa 23 siswa memiliki pemahaman BCW yang rendah pada pembelajaran Matematika. Untuk meningkatkan pemahaman BCW siswa pada pembelajaran Matematika, maka penelitian ini menerapkan integrasi Alkitab model Bryan Smith tahap 2. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi guru mentor dan teman sejawat, lembar angket siswa, serta lembar tes pemahaman sederhana. Dari hasil analisis dan pembahasan dapat dilihat peningkatkan pada indikator Creation dari 96,2 % di siklus I menjadi 100% di siklus II, indikator Fall 100% di siklus I dan siklus II, serta indikator Redemption dari 88,8% di siklus I menjadi 92,5% di siklus II. Secara keseluruhan penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan model integrasi Bryan Smith tahap 2 dapat meningkatkan pemahaman BCW siswa pada pembelajaran Matematika.

Abstract

ABSTRACTA systematic and continuous vocabulary assessment is required to monitor the progress of learners’ learning and readiness to follow certain instr8uctional programs. The purpose of this study is to report a tryout of constructing an online quiz using http://oas.web.id/.  OAS is an ongoing R&D project to help teachers and/or educational researchers create an online quiz by converting multiple-choice questions from a spreadsheet program (i.e. MS Excel or Google Sheets) into a Google Forms quiz, Moodle, paper-based quiz, Kahoot, or any other quiz makers that have import facility. This paper focuses on describing the making and tryout of a vocabulary-size quiz into Google Forms quiz to find out whether the resulting quiz works. The result shows that OAS offered an easy and very quick way in creating a vocabulary-size quiz successfully by copying the already available vocabulary-size questions based on Nation and Beglar’s Vocabulary Size Test. The researcher and the voluntary test students got the scores immediately after they had submitted the Google Forms. It can then be concluded that the OAS created the vocabulary quiz successfully without any serious technical problems.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAKSebuah asesmen kosakata yang sistematis dan berkelanjutan diperlukan untuk memonitor kemajuan dan kesiapan pembelajar untuk mengikuti program-program pembelajaran. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melaporkan sebuah uji coba dari penyusunan sebuah kuis dalam jaringan menggunakan http://oas.web.id/.  OAS adalah sebuah proyek penelitian dan pengembangan untuk menolong guru-guru dan/atau peneliti-peneliti pendidikan membuat sebuah kuis dalam jaringan dengan cara mengonversi pertanyaan-pertanyaan pilihan berganda dari sebuah program lembar kerja (misalnya Microsoft Excel atau Google Sheets) ke dalam kuis Google Forms, Moodle, lembar kuis cetak, Kahoot, atau program-program pembuat kuis lainnya yang memiliki fitur impor. Paper ini fokus pada penggambaran proses pembuatan dan uji coba sebuah kuis kosakata dengan Google Forms untuk mengetahui apakah kuis tersebut bisa digunakan. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa OAS menawarkan sebuah cara yang mudah dan sangat cepat dalam membuat sebuah kuis kosakata dengan menyalin pertanyaan-pertanyaan kosakata yang telah disediakan berdasarkan tes kosakata Nation and Beglar’s. Peneliti dan mahasiswa/i yang berpartisipasi di uji coba, langsung mendapatkan hasil kuis setelah mereka mengumpulkan Google Forms. Kemudian dapat disimpulkan bahwa OAS sukses membuat kuis kosakata tanpa ada masalah-masalah teknis yang berarti.

Abstract

AbstractThe development of the 21st century learning era and the development of the industrial revolution 4.0, brings the world of education into the arena of competition in all aspects of life. Current advances in science and technology provide their own challenges for teachers in designing a learning model to produce learners according to 21st century competencies. Current education has not been able to produce the quality of 21st century learners who have the ability to think critically, think creatively and think reflectively. It is a challenge for an educator to design the right learning model. This study aims to see whether the application of research-based learning model can develop students' critical thinking, creative thinking, and reflective thinking skills in learning biology. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research according to Mc. Kernans which was conducted for two cycles in class XI Major A. Data collection techniques used rubrics to measure the achievement of indicators through tests. The results showed that the application of the research-based learning model was able to improve students' critical thinking, creative thinking, and reflective thinking skills in learning biology. Bahasa Indonesia AbstrakPerkembangan era 21 century learning dan perkembangan revolusi industri 4.0, membawa dunia pendidikan memasuki arena kompetisi dalam segala aspek kehidupan. Kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi saat ini memberikan tantangan tersendiri bagi guru dalam merancang sebuah model pembelajaran untuk menghasilkan peserta didik sesuai kompetensi abad 21 saat ini. Pendidikan saat ini belum mampu menghasilkan kualitas peserta didik abad 21 yang memiliki kemampuan berpikir kritis, berpikir kreatif dan berpikir reeflektif. Sebuah tantangan tersendiri bagi seorang pendidik dalam merancang sebuah pemodelan pembelajaran yang tepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat apakah penerapan model research-based learning mampu mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis, berpikir kreatif, dan berpikir reflektif peserta didik dalam pembelajaran biologi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas oleh Mc. Kernans yang dilakukan selama dua siklus di kelas XI Major A. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes yang telah divalidasi oleh dua orang ahli. Hasil penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa penerapan model research-based learning mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis, berpikir kreatif, dan berpikir reflektif peserta didik dalam pembelajaran biologi.

Abstract

Learning English at the primary school level holds significant relevance in preparing students to face global challenges in the future. Appropriate technology can support English language Learning, allowing students to experience maximum development. This research elaborates on developing and utilizing the Infinity Vocabulary Game App, which is tailored to meet the needs and enhance the English vocabulary of grade 5 students in Tangerang. The study utilized the ADDIE model, which covered analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, along with a quantitative experimental approach. A pretest-posttest design was applied involving 66 participants of grade 5 students from SDN Sewan Kebon, divided into an experimental group (28 students), a control group (28 students), and a small-scale test group (10 students). Data collection tools, including observations, interviews, rubrics, questionnaires, and the Infinity game application, have been validated by experts. The N-Gain test showed a high effectiveness score of 0.72. The Mann-Whitney test revealed significant differences in average scores between the experimental and control groups. The research indicated that the Infinity game application was efficient and significantly improved students' English vocabulary. Furthermore, the students experienced high satisfaction and motivation when using the Infinity game application.

Abstract

Educational technology has grown rapidly and extensively, but unfortunately its presence in learning mathematics has not been maximized. A preliminary survey and the researchers' personal experience with the use of Smart TVs in one junior high school (SMP) motivated the researchers to do research and development (R&D) which began with a clear and comprehensive needs analysis. The aim of this research is to determine the need to further develop Smart TV learning media and explain ways to improve its use based on the conclusions of the needs analysis. The research method applied is the ADDIE Model with its stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. The instrument used to collect needs analysis data is a survey which, after being validated and revised, was distributed via g-form to students, mathematics teachers, and junior high school leaders. The results of the needs analysis show that even though Smart TVs were used, the majority of students have difficulty understanding mathematical concepts because Smart TVs are not interesting and interactive. A Smart TV is just a substitute for LCDs and laptops. Therefore, researchers designed learning methods that are interesting and involve students in using Smart TVs should focus on inquiry learning methods and educational games. The implementation steps will help mathematics teachers to maximize the use of Smart TVs in the classroom.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Teknologi pembelajaran telah berkembang begitu cepat dan luas, tetapi kehadirannya di pembelajaran Matematika belum dimaksimalkan. Beberapa sekolah telah menggunakan Smart TV sebagai media pembelajaran di kelas, tetapi survei awal dan pengalaman pribadi peneliti akan kurang maksimalnya penggunaan Smart TV di satu sekolah menengah pertama (SMP) memotivasi peneliti untuk melakukan penelitian R & D yang dimulai dengan sebuah analisis kebutuhan yang jelas dan komprehensif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui analisis kebutuhan untuk lebih jauh mengembangkan Smart TV serta menjelaskan cara-cara pengembangan media tersebut berdasarkan temuan-temuan kesimpulan analisis kebutuhan. Model penelitian yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini adalah model pengembangan ADDIE dengan tahapan Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data analisis kebutuhan adalah survei yang setelah divalidasi dan direvisi, survei tersebut disebarkan melalui ke g-form kepada siswa/i, guru matematika dan pimpinan sekolah. Hasil analisis kebutuhan menunjukkan bahwa meskipun Smart TV telah digunakan, siswa/i masih kesulitan menguasai konsep Matematika karena Smart TV kurang menarik dan interaktif. Smart TV hanya sekedar pengganti LCD dan laptop. Oleh karena itu, peneliti merancang metode pembelajaran yang menarik dan melibatkan siswa dalam penggunaan Smart TV yaitu metode pembelajaran inquiri dan permainan edukasi. Langkah-langkah penerapannya akan menolong guru-guru Matematika untuk memaksimalkan penggunaan Smart TV di kelas.

Abstract

Taufiqul Mubarok, an orphanage in North Jakarta, is home to numerous orphans who attend school ranging from Kindergarten to Senior High School. These children, who are the primary residents of the orphanage, face significant educational challenges, particularly in English, due to limited access to quality education exacerbated by the high poverty levels in the area. In response, the Faculty of Education at Universitas Pelita Harapan (FIP UPH) and the Sunda Kelapa Sectoral Police (Polsek) initiated an English Learning Program to foster inclusive language education. The program aimed to provide these children with opportunities for educational advancement and, ultimately, a better quality of life than their parents. The English Learning Program, conducted from March to June 2024, adopted a holistic approach to support the comprehensive development of the orphanage residents. The program's methodology encompassed problem identification, preparation, implementation utilizing various teaching methods, appreciation, and evaluation. A competition was held at the program's conclusion to assess the participants' progress. The results demonstrated significant improvements in the children's English skills, highlighting the program's success.

Abstract

The attention span of early childhood children is a critical factor in forming their developmental foundation, encompassing physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth. Informal interviews with classroom teachers reveal that students struggle to maintain attention during instruction, often displaying behaviors such as restlessness and lack of focus immediately after the lesson begins. This thesis aims to investigate the impact of internal and external factors on the attention span among Kindergarten 3 students at Sekolah XYZ, focusing on regular classroom settings and specialized classes (music and art). This research employs a case study method by combining observations, interviews, and documentation to provide a comprehensive understanding of the issue. The findings of this research include a limited direct exploration within the classroom and the type of curriculum currently used, which are reasons for the low attention span of Kindergarten 3 students. This study highlights the novelty of tactile learning approaches to enhance attention span. To expand these findings, future research is expected to consider comparative studies across Yayasan XYZ network, investigating the impact of direct exploration and different educational approaches on the attention and learning outcomes of students in specialist classes. Abstrak bahasa Indonesia Rentang perhatian anak usia dini adalah faktor kritis dalam pembentukan dasar perkembangan mereka, mencakup pertumbuhan fisik, kognitif, sosial, dan emosional. Wawancara informal dengan guru-guru kelas mengungkapkan bahwa murid kesulitan untuk mempertahankan perhatian selama instruksi, sering menunjukkan perilaku seperti gelisah dan ketidakfokusan segera setelah pembelajaran dimulai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki dampak dari faktor internal dan eksternal terhadap rentang perhatian di kalangan murid Kindergaten 3 di Sekolah XYZ, berfokus pada setting kelas reguler dan khusus (musik dan seni). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus dengan menggabungkan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi untuk memberikan pemahaman komprehensif tentang isu tersebut. Hasil dari penelitian ini ialah eksplorasi langsung yang terbatas dalam kelas, juga jenis kurikulum yang digunakan saat ini yang menjadi alasan rendahnya rentang perhatian siswa TK 3. Penelitian ini menyoroti kebaruan dari pendekatan pembelajaran taktil untuk meningkatkan rentang perhatian. Untuk memperluas temuan ini, penelitian masa depan diharapkan mempertimbangkan studi perbandingan di seluruh jaringan Yayasan XYZ, menyelidiki dampak eksplorasi langsung dan pendekatan pendidikan yang berbeda terhadap perhatian dan hasil belajar murid di kelas-kelas khusus.

Abstract

This article aims to elaborate the effect of a newly developed learning media as a group of French language teachers in Jakarta affirmed the need of a learning media in the form of interactive powerpoint that can shape students’ understanding of French conjugation verbs. The researchers then decided to develop conjugation wheel interactive powerpoint (CWIPPT) using ADDIE model and eventually test its effectiveness for grade XI students. A quasi-experimental research method was used, specifically the non-equivalent control group design and two grade XI classes in senior high school 85 in West Jakarta were willing to participate as control and experiment groups. A validated pre and post tests were used to measure the increase of students understanding of French conjugation verbs. The results show that the control group had an N-Gain of 0.26, while the experimental group had 0.81, indicating a much bigger improvement in the experimental group. It is recommended French teachers use CWIPPT and an apps of it to be developed so that more students can use and get the benefits of it.

Abstract

This article discusses to what extent mathematics teachers do Biblical integration in their class, explores the challenges that mathematics teachers face when they do or want to do Biblical integration, and explores the school’s expectation of Biblical integration for mathematics teachers with more clarity and intentionality. Research was conducted from September until October 2016. The research subjects were the curriculum coordinator, head of the Department of Mathematics, seven mathematics teachers, and 362 senior high students. The data collection techniques that were used were a semi-structured interview, and a questionnaire. The results of the research showed that the school’s expectation is that teachers should be able show how mathematics is capable of expressing truths about God’s work, God’s beauty, and God’s regularity because God created mathematics. All of the mathematics teachers modeled Biblical qualities. The challenges and obstacles that mathematics teachers were confronted with was that they had little time to find Biblical integration material, they did not have enough understanding, they had difficulty doing Biblical integration from the material, and the teachers were afraid that their explanations about Biblical integration would sound forced to students, especially non-Christian students.ABSTRAK BAHASA INDONESIA:  Artikel ini membahas sejauh mana guru matematika melakukan integrasi Alkitabiah di kelasnya, tantangan dan hambatan yang dihadapi oleh guru matematika saat mereka melakukan atau ingin melakukan integrasi Alkitabiah, dan untuk mencari tahu ekspetasi sekolah tentang integrasi Alkitabiah untuk guru matematika dengan lebih jelas dan mempunyai maksud. Penelitian ini dilakukan dari September sampai Oktober 2016. Subjek penelitian adalah kordinator kurikulum, kepala departemen matematika, tujuh guru matematika, dan 362 siswa sekolah menengah atas. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu wawancara terencana-tidak terstruktur dan kuisioner. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekspetasi sekolah adalah bagaimana matematika mampu menjadi tempat untuk mengantarkan siswa mengenal kebenaran seperti pekerjaan Tuhan, keindahan Tuhan, keteraturan Tuhan karena Tuhan menciptakan matematika. Kemudian, semua guru matematika menjadi contoh kualitas Alkitabiah. Hambatan dan tantangan yang dihadapi guru matematika adalah kekurangan waktu untuk menemukan integrasi Alkitabiah dari materi, mereka juga tidak mempunyai pemahaman yang cukup, mereka merasa kesulitan dalam melakukan integrasi Alkitabiah, dan guru merasa takut jika penjelasannya tentang integrasi Alkitabiah terdengar memaksa bagi siswa, terkhusus siswa yang beragama lain.
