Abstract

Cattle farms produce waste which consisted of cow excrement in the form of solid, liquid, gas or cattle feed residual. Utilization of cow manure waste into organic compost requires proper processing technology which includes the technology of solid manure pulverizing and the technology of mixing raw materials. This research focuses on designing a cattle dung waste pulverizer. The methods used are numerical calculations, simulations using the Fusion 360 software, and fabrication based on Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA). The main parts of the design include pulverizer, engine frame, cover (input and output hoppers), diesel motor, transmission belt and pulley. The safety factor obtained for the frame section was 4,645, for the cover section was 11.3, and for the counter section was 2,009 with assumptions of uniform load distribution of 20000 N. The power required for the design was 6.6 HP. The cattle dung waste pulverizer was built and tested using a diesel motor with a maximum power of 13 HP. The cattle dung waste pulverizer's capacity was 1500 kg/hour.

Abstract

Garbage has certainly been a classic problem which tends to get worse, especially in Jabodetabek area. Various attempts were made to solve the waste problem in the cities. This raises the writer's desire to make a tool that can clean trash in the river automatically, far-reaching, and effectively, namely the lifting garbage conveyor. With this design, garbage can be cleaned continuously because of the automatic system. Even if the volume of garbage in the river increases, the tool can increase the speed of cleaning the garbage by itself. With the sensor system, the tool can continue to operate, without allowing trash to accumulate, using energy effectively, and not requiring a lot of human labor. This tool is designed to cover the entire river and it is capable of being assembled. Because the tool can run automatically, it only takes 1 to 2 workers whose to supervise and do not need to work physically. This tool is easy to operate. To start this tool, you don't need special skills such as the ability to drive when using an excavator.

Abstract

Pertandingan Boccia adalah salah satu olahraga paralimpiade yang paling cepat berkembang. Olahraga boccia dibedakan berdasarkan tujuan kompetisi yang bergantung pada kemampuan disik dan fungsionalnya. Atlet boccia diklasifikasikan di salah satu dari empat kelas: BC1, BC2, BC3, atauBC4. Kelas atlet BC3 ditujukan untuk atlet dengan disfungsi lokomotor yang sangat parah di keempatekstremitas,sehinggamereka membutuhkan bantuan dari asisten dan alat bantu. Saat ini, Boccia National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Surakarta memerlukan pengembangan alat penunjang pada olahragabocciaklasifikasiBC3yaitupadahelmbertongkatpointer.Helmbocciayangtersediadipasaran harganya cukup mahal dan masih  mempunyai tingkat akurasi yang rendah dengan standar keamanan dan kenyamanan atlet yang belumterpenuhi. Sehingga dapat memengaruhi keselamatan maupun hasil akhir olahraga boccia. Helm boccia ini berfungsi untuk membantuatlet dalam mengarahkan, membidikarahsasaranbola, dan menggulirkan bola. Abstract

Ketersediaan air tanah di Desa Puron Kecamatan Bulu Kabupaten Sukoharjo semakin menurun. Hal itu dikarenakan pengambilan air tanah yang tidak diimbangi dengan semangat konservasi dan sedikitnya air hujan yang masuk ke dalam tanah. Berkurangnya jumlah air yang ada mengakibatkan mengeringnya tumbuhan di lingkungan tersebut. Selain itu, masih banyaknya sampah rumah tangga menjadi permasalahan yang harus dihadapi masyarakat permukiman. Penanganan sampah dan irigasi secara konvensional yang telah diterapkan oleh masyarakat belum menjadi solusi terbaik. Sehingga perlu penanganan secara tersistematis, terstruktur dan berkelanjutan. Pengabdian yang dilakukan bertujuan untuk membantu masyarakat Desa Puron dalam menangani masalah air dan sampah. Pengabdian masyarakat dengan mensosialisasikan dan mengajak masyarakat untuk melakukan konservasi sumber daya air dengan penerapan teknologi sederhana dan murah. Penerapan teknologi yang bisa diterapkan yaitu dengan pembuatan lubang resapan biopori untuk meningkatkan jumlah air dalam tanah serta mengurangi sampah organik di Desa Puron. Lubang resapan biopori berfungsi sebagai tempat resapan air ke dalam tanah dan sebagai tempat pembuatan kompos dari sampah organik. Lubang resapan biopori tidak membutuhkan area luas dan proses pembuatannya sangat mudah, hal ini tentu menjadi solusi yang tepat untuk wilayah Desa Puron. Hasil pengabdian menjadikan ketersedian air yang ditandai dengan menghijaunya tumbuhan. Kata kunci: Air, Biopori, Pengabdian, Desa Puron

Abstract

The installation of aerodynamic devices, such as rear wings with the application of a Gurney flap, is very important to improve the performance of vehicles and can generate downforce and reduce slip when a car turns and brakes. The goal of this study was to determine the aerodynamic characteristics of the addition of a rear wing using an Eppler 423 airfoil, which was applied with a Gurney flap featuring variations in the angle of attack and the height of the Gurney flap. The rear wing was mounted on the Ahmed body with a rear slant angle of 15°, which is similar to the configuration on a fastback type car. This research was conducted by 3D modeling through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation using ANSYS Student R18.2 by using ahmed body design. There are three variations in the angle of attack for the rear wing (0°, 7.5°, and 15°), as well as five variations in Gurney flap height of 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2% for the chord-line length. In this study, the best variation was found at an angle of attack of 15⁰ with a height of 2% C. From this configuration improved CL/CD ratio by 25.36% when compared to the results without a Gurney flap.

Abstract

The lack of rainfall and the absence of catchment areas are the main factors of the lack of water in Puron Village. Making biopori becomes solutive because it is useful for water absorption, reducing standing water, composting containers, and fertilizing the soil. Artificial biopores are made by making holes in the ground using tools such as crowbars or using ground drilling machines. The use of aids model adapted to the drill bit based on the state of the soil contour. This research is focused on classifying drill bits and redesigning which is in accordance with the condition of the soil environment in Puron Village, Bulu District, Sukoharjo Regency. So that biopori holes can be created more effectively and efficiently. The research method was carried out through the classification of tool drill bits through the house of quality product (HOQ) and redesign using Autodesk Fusion 360 software application. It was found that the design with a screw drill model with a pointed spiral has a high product quality value and can applied in puron Village. The design of the drill bit by adjusting the contours of the Puron Village can make a 100 mm diameter biopori hole. The design specifications of the drill bit with steel cast with 12 spiral plates with a length of 1300 mm with a diameter of 115 mm can be driven with a 10 HP engine. The design results have maximum stress, displacement, reaction force and strain of 3.62 MPa, 0.00081 mm, 0.35 N, and 0.000015.

Abstract

The placement of outdoor fitness equipment at tourist attractions is one of the attractions for tourists. Besides that, it can also be used as a means of health socialization for the community in public places. The elliptical trainer type air walker is a popular fitness tool because it is easy to use and has a small risk of injury. Elliptical trainer has a working principle like a walking person where movement is influenced by the force of the hand and leg movements. The design of an elliptical trainer fitness equipment that will be placed in a public place needs to be done to get a good level of security. This article discusses the design of an elliptical trainer device that is safe to place outdoors. The design process uses the Solidworks 2017a application. The elliptical trainer is divided into 4 parts, namely the main frame, drive shaft, hand handle, and leg handle. The manufacturing process is carried out based on Design Manufacture and Assembly and machinery to reduce the risk of manufacturing failure and make it easier to work on. The result of the elliptical trainer design has dimensions of 2,500 x 1,800 x 1,000 mm. The main frame has a safety factor of 3 with a displacement of 8,524e-7 mm.

Abstract

Using solar energy through photovoltaic (PV) panels has excellent potential as an alternative energy source. However, the problem of high operating temperatures causing a reduction in work efficiency needs to be addressed. This study aimed to analyze the development of a cooling system to increase PV panels' electrical and thermal efficiency. The research involved analyzing the use of TiO2, Al2O3, and ZnO working fluids by adding 0.5 vol% to water in an active cooling method. The cooling system involved a rectangular spiral and a rectangular tube behind the PV panel. A solar simulator simulated solar radiation with intensity variations to analyze the cooling system's performance in different working conditions. The results showed that the heat exchanger with a nanofluid configuration reduced the panel temperature by 14 oC, which increased the electrical efficiency by up to 4.7% in the ZnO nanofluid. In the rectangular spiral configuration, the ZnO nanofluid reduced the panel temperature from 60 to 45 oC, increasing the Isc value from 2.16A to 2.9A and the Voc value from 21.5V to 23V. Abstract

Several methods to enhance heat transfer can be classified into three categories: active, passive, or hybrid. Among these methods, Vortex Generators (VGs) are one passive heat transfer enhancement device widely used in heat exchangers. This study aims to explore the geometric shapes of VGs equipped with longitudinal holes and examine their influence on the outlet temperature of the fluid. For the analysis in this research, a three-dimensional Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation using ANSYS Fluent software was employed. The increased heat transfer and flow resistance in the VG geometry were evaluated based on previous research for validation. The study results demonstrate that the simulation produces fluid outlet temperature values and velocity contours that closely resemble the results obtained from the reference study. The validation error of this research was found to be only 0.02%, indicating high-quality and accurate simulation results. Furthermore, the study compared various geometries of the VG holes in the system. Among these geometries, hexagonal-shaped VG holes exhibited high-velocity contours on the VG side while achieving the lowest fluid outlet temperature at approximately 303.53 K. The findings of this study serve as a basis for further developments in enhancing the efficiency and performance of heat exchangers using VGs.

Abstract

Abstrak: Taman bermain merupakan lingkungan yang dirancang khusus untuk menyediakan kesempatan bermain, belajar, dan berinteraksi bagi anak-anak. Taman bermain tidak hanya merupakan tempat hiburan semata, tetapi juga berperan sebagai ruang pendidikan yang mendukung perkembangan fisik, kognitif, sosial, dan emosional anak-anak. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk merancang desain wahana bermain papan seluncur yang dirancang dengan mempertimbangkan faktor keselamatan, kenyamanan, dan pengembangan anak di Taman Mekarsari Desa Kaligentong, Kecamatan Gladagsari, Kabupaten Boyolali. Papan seluncur merupakan sebuah wahana dengan bentuk seperti seluncuran yang difungsikan sebagai sarana anak-anak untuk berinteraksi pada lingkungan luar. Metode yang digunakan pada pengabdian ini berupa deskriptif kualitatif yang dilakukan melalui tahapan wawancara dan observasi. Pengabdian ini merupakan kolaborasi antara dosen dan mahasiswa Program Studi Teknik Mesin, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta dengan Kelompok Tani (PokTan) Desa Kaligentong, Gladagsari, Boyolali sebagai pengelola Taman Mekarsari. Evaluasi yang dilakukan untuk wahana bermain ini yaitu dengan melakukan simulasi percobaan papan seluncur secara langsung. Dari kolaborasi ini didapatkan hasil berupa desain papan seluncur yang kokoh dan dibuatnya wahana bermain papan seluncur yang aman dan nyaman di Taman Mekarsari. Diharapkan dengan adanya wahana bermain ini dapat mendorong interaksi sosial dan pengembangan keterampilan anak-anak sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas hidup dengan memberikan kesempatan bermain dan belajar secara menyeluruh.Abstract:  Playgrounds are environments specifically designed to provide opportunities for children to play, learn and interact. Playgrounds are not only places of entertainment, but also act as educational spaces that support children's physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development. This service aims to design a skateboard playground that is designed by considering safety, comfort, and child development factors at Mekarsari Park, Kaligentong Village, Gladagsari District, Boyolali Regency. Papan seluncur is a vehicle with a shape like a slide that functions as a means for children to interact with the outside environment. The method used in this service is descriptive qualitative which is carried out through interviews and observations. This service is a collaboration between lecturers and students of the Mechanical Engineering, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta with the Farmer Group (PokTan) of Kaligentong Village, Gladagsari, Boyolali as the manager of Mekarsari Park. The evaluation carried out for this playground is by simulating the papan seluncur experiment directly. From this collaboration, the results were obtained in the form of a sturdy papan seluncur design and the creation of a safe and comfortable papan seluncur playground in Mekarsari Park. It is hoped that this playground can encourage social interaction and skill development of children to improve the quality of life by providing comprehensive play and learning opportunities.
