Abstract

Several methods to enhance heat transfer can be classified into three categories: active, passive, or hybrid. Among these methods, Vortex Generators (VGs) are one passive heat transfer enhancement device widely used in heat exchangers. This study aims to explore the geometric shapes of VGs equipped with longitudinal holes and examine their influence on the outlet temperature of the fluid. For the analysis in this research, a three-dimensional Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation using ANSYS Fluent software was employed. The increased heat transfer and flow resistance in the VG geometry were evaluated based on previous research for validation. The study results demonstrate that the simulation produces fluid outlet temperature values and velocity contours that closely resemble the results obtained from the reference study. The validation error of this research was found to be only 0.02%, indicating high quality and accurate simulation results. Furthermore, the study compared various geometries of the VG holes in the system. Among these geometries, hexagonal-shaped VG holes exhibited high-velocity contours on the VG side while achieving the lowest fluid outlet temperature at approximately 303.53 K. The findings of this study serve as a basis for further developments in enhancing the efficiency and performance of heat exchangers using VGs.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of a heatsink-based cooling system, combined with forced airflow, on the thermal and electrical performance of a photovoltaic (PV) module under controlled irradiance conditions provided by a solar simulator. The cooling configuration employed is energy-efficient and straightforward, utilizing active convection enhanced by a blower in selected trials. Two primary conditions were compared: PV without cooling and PV with different cooling configurations. The experimental results indicate that the PV + Heatsink + Blower configuration achieved the highest average electrical efficiency of 13.43%, whereas the PV Only configuration recorded the lowest, 12.45%. This difference demonstrates that temperature regulation through a combination of heatsink and assisted airflow significantly improves electrical energy conversion. Furthermore, maintaining a lower, more stable operating temperature contributes to consistent power output and reduces heat accumulation, which can accelerate performance degradation. Overall, the findings suggest that integrating a low-energy, straightforward cooling design can be an effective strategy to enhance PV performance, particularly in testing environments that use a solar simulator.

Abstract

The primary objective of this research is to evaluate the feasibility and potential benefits of integrating solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems in educational institutions within the new capital. The Hybrid Optimization of Multiple Energy Resources (HOMER) energy modeling software was utilized to achieve this, enabling a detailed analysis of the project's viability for investment over a specified timeframe. Key metrics such as Net Present Cost (NPC), Cost of Energy (COE), and Break-Even Point (BEP) were emphasized to assess the economic implications of the project. The findings of the research reveal that the rooftop solar PV system for schools in Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) has NPC of IDR 15,865,110,000.00, COE of IDR 1,174.26 per kWh, and a BEP occurring in the sixteenth year, as indicated by the simulation results. These outcomes suggest that the rooftop solar PV project is not only a viable solution but also holds significant potential for development. Furthermore, it supports the overarching goals of the capital relocation program while promoting the adoption of renewable energy sources in Indonesia, thereby contributing to a more sustainable future for the nation.

Abstract

This study investigates the aerodynamic behavior of a cricket ball at various velocities using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in ANSYS Fluent, focusing on the effects of speed and surface modifications on aerodynamic forces and pressure distribution. The cricket ball geometry was simplified by replacing the seam with a protruding flat surface. Simulations were performed at airflow velocities of 20, 30, and 40 m/s using the realizable k-ε turbulence model, with air properties set to a density of 1.225 kg/m³ and dynamic viscosity of 1.81×10-⁵ Pa-s. At 20 m/s, the inlet and outlet mass flow rates were 50.306891 kg/s and -50.306901 kg/s, with a net imbalance of        -9.3×10-⁶ kg/s, generating a drag force of 0.5 N, a lift force of 0.2 N, and a pressure difference of 50 Pa. At 30 m/s, the inlet and outlet rates were 75.460373 kg/s and -75.464958 kg/s, respectively, resulting in a net imbalance of -0.004585 kg/s. The flow was fully turbulent, producing a drag force of 3.5 N, a lift force of 1.5 N, and a pressure difference of 250 Pa. Increasing velocity boosts drag, lift, and pressure differences. At the same time, the flat surface enhances asymmetry, vortices, and swing at higher speeds.

Abstract

Ketersediaan air tanah di Desa Puron Kecamatan Bulu Kabupaten Sukoharjo semakin menurun. Hal itu dikarenakan pengambilan air tanah yang tidak diimbangi dengan semangat konservasi dan sedikitnya air hujan yang masuk ke dalam tanah. Berkurangnya jumlah air yang ada mengakibatkan mengeringnya tumbuhan di lingkungan tersebut. Selain itu, masih banyaknya sampah rumah tangga menjadi permasalahan yang harus dihadapi masyarakat permukiman. Penanganan sampah dan irigasi secara konvensional yang telah diterapkan oleh masyarakat belum menjadi solusi terbaik. Sehingga perlu penanganan secara tersistematis, terstruktur dan berkelanjutan. Pengabdian yang dilakukan bertujuan untuk membantu masyarakat Desa Puron dalam menangani masalah air dan sampah. Pengabdian masyarakat dengan mensosialisasikan dan mengajak masyarakat untuk melakukan konservasi sumber daya air dengan penerapan teknologi sederhana dan murah. Penerapan teknologi yang bisa diterapkan yaitu dengan pembuatan lubang resapan biopori untuk meningkatkan jumlah air dalam tanah serta mengurangi sampah organik di Desa Puron. Lubang resapan biopori berfungsi sebagai tempat resapan air ke dalam tanah dan sebagai tempat pembuatan kompos dari sampah organik. Lubang resapan biopori tidak membutuhkan area luas dan proses pembuatannya sangat mudah, hal ini tentu menjadi solusi yang tepat untuk wilayah Desa Puron. Hasil pengabdian menjadikan ketersedian air yang ditandai dengan menghijaunya tumbuhan. Kata kunci: Air, Biopori, Pengabdian, Desa Puron

Abstract

Taman bermain adalah suatu lingkungan yang didesain secara khusus untuk memberikan kesempatan kepada anak-anak untuk bermain, belajar, dan berinteraksi. Selain berfungsi sebagai tempat hiburan, taman bermain juga memiliki peran penting sebagai ruang pendidikan yang mendukung perkembangan fisik, kognitif, sosial, dan emosional anak-anak. Pengabdian ini memiliki tujuan untuk merancang desain wahana bermain ayun tangan yang mempertimbangkan faktor keselamatan, kenyamanan, dan pengembangan anak di Taman Mekarsari Desa Kaligentong, Kecamatan Gladagsari, Kabupaten Boyolali. Wahana bermain ayun tangan ini didesain dengan menggunakan material yang aman dan tahan lama, serta menerapkan prinsip-prinsip desain yang memungkinkan anak-anak untuk bergerak, bereksplorasi, dan menggunakan imajinasi mereka dengan bebas. Wahana bermain ayun tangan memiliki peran yang penting dalam meningkatkan kualitas hidup anak-anak dengan memberikan mereka kesempatan untuk bermain, belajar, dan tumbuh secara holistik. Dengan adanya wahana ini, anak-anak dapat mengembangkan keterampilan motorik, kognitif, dan sosial mereka sambil menikmati pengalaman bermain yang menyenangkan. Wahana ini diharapkan dapat menciptakan lingkungan yang merangsang interaksi sosial, memperluas keterampilan anak-anak, dan meningkatkan kualitas hidup mereka melalui kesempatan bermain dan belajar. Kata kunci : pengabdian, taman bermain, ayun tangan, edukasi
