Abstract

Economic growth is one of the main indicators in assessing the success of a country's development. Stable economic growth reflects an increase in production, consumption, investment, and public welfare activities. In the Indonesian context, the government has a very important role in regulating and directing the national economy through various economic policies. The government's economic policy basically aims to maintain economic stability, encourage economic growth, create jobs, and improve the welfare of the community. This research aims to analyse the role of government economic policy towards Indonesia's economic growth. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with a literature study approach. The data used is secondary data obtained from books, scientific journals, official reports of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Bank Indonesia, Ministry of Finance, and other relevant sources. Research results show that the government's economic policy has a significant role in driving Indonesia's economic growth. Fiscal policy plays a role through government spending, subsidies, tax incentives, and infrastructure development. Monetary policy plays a role in maintaining the stability of inflation, interest rates, and the rupiah exchange rate. Meanwhile, structural reform plays a role in increasing productivity, investment, economic competitiveness, and transformation of the national economic sector. Thus, Indonesia's economic growth cannot be separated from the effectiveness and synergy of government economic policies that are implemented sustainably.

Abstract

Unemployment continues to be a significant macroeconomic challenge that impacts both economic stability and societal welfare. The government of Indonesia has launched a comprehensive policy aimed at generating 19 million job opportunities, bolstered by associated initiatives like the Free Nutritious Meal program, which has the potential to create jobs through the food supply sector and related industries. This research seeks to evaluate the success of the job creation initiative in lowering unemployment rates and to explore the function of the MBG program as a supplementary policy. The study utilizes a descriptive quantitative methodology, drawing from secondary information provided by the Statistics Indonesia for East Java Province, along with trend analysis and qualitative methods to evaluate indirect effects on employment. Findings suggest that job creation strategies generally aid in diminishing unemployment, though their success is affected by factors such as the quality of the labor force, the economic framework, and the distribution of jobs. The MBG initiative also demonstrates promise in generating new job prospects, but its execution needs enhancement to ensure wider and more lasting effects. ltimately, the job creation initiative is crucial in tackling unemployment, especially when reinforced by cohesive social policies, and harmonizing policies is vital to attain effective and sustainable employment results.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the uneven impact of infrastructure investment on regional economic growth in Indonesia, where some regions are able to capture the benefits of infrastructure development more quickly than others. The study aims to examine the direction of infrastructure investment policy in Indonesia and explain how such investment affects regional economic growth. This article applies a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review and policy document analysis, including the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan, state budget documents, Statistics Indonesia publications, and national as well as international empirical studies on infrastructure and regional growth. The findings show that infrastructure investment contributes to regional growth by reducing logistics costs, improving interregional connectivity, expanding market access, increasing business productivity, and generating interregional spillover effects. However, these benefits are not evenly distributed. Regions with stronger economic bases, better institutional quality, and greater fiscal capacity tend to gain more rapidly than lagging regions. Roads, ports, airports, electricity, and digital infrastructure also produce different effects depending on each region’s economic structure. Therefore, infrastructure investment policy should emphasize project quality, intermodal connectivity, asset maintenance, blended financing, and integration with human capital development and local productive sectors. The study concludes that infrastructure investment is more effective in promoting regional economic growth when it is designed according to territorial needs rather than merely distributing physical projects across regions.
