Abstract

Education is an effort to improve the quality of life and human resources. One of these educational goals is to increase student creativity in learning at school. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in students' creative thinking skills, learning implementation, and the responses of class VII E students of SMP Negeri 2 Semen after implementing the learning process by applying the creative problem solving learning model to environmental pollution material. The research method used is Pre-Experimental Design with the experimental design used is One-Group-Pretest-Posttest. The research subjects in this study were students of class VII E with a total of 34 students at SMP Negeri 2 Semen Kediri. Data collection using tests (pretest-posttest), observation sheets of learning implementation, and student response questionnaires. Based on the results of the study after carrying out learning by applying creative problem solving it was found that students' creative thinking skills increased with an N-Gain value of 0.75 with very high criteria. The application of the creative problem solving learning model in class VII E of SMP Negeri 2 Semen was carried out well, this can be seen from the mode value of the results of observing the implementation of learning, namely 4. Student responses to the application of creative problem solving learning models in environmental pollution material received a value of 85, 10% with very high criteria which means students give a positive response. The conclusion from this study is that the creative problem solving learning model influences the creative thinking skills of class VII E students of SMP Negeri 2 Semen Kediri.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the improvement of students' science process skills towards the guided inquiry learning model of class VIII at SMPN 2 Semen. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative with the type of research used quasi experiment using one treatment class, namely class VIII-E totaling 35 students. The research design used one group pretest posttest design. The data collection technique in this study used the test method. Science process skills after applying the guided inquiry learning model on the vibration and mechanical wave sub-material have increased. The percentage of completeness for post-test scores was 80%. Class VIII-E obtained an N-Gain score of 0.6 in the medium category. Thus it can be concluded that the guided inquiry learning model can improve students' science process skills.

Abstract

A Comparative Study of PJBL-STEM Learning Models: Analyzing Similarities and Differences Between Two Research Articles. This study aimed to compare two research studies that focused on the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) integrated with STEM in enhancing students' critical thinking, conceptual understanding, and creativity. The research employed a qualitative methodology, specifically content analysis, with data gathered through a literature review. Articles were selected based on specific criteria, including the accreditation ranking of the publishing journal, relevance to the topic, and citation impact. Data was collected using Google Scholar and Publish or Perish with keywords such as “Project-Based Learning” and “STEM.”. The findings reveal key similarities between the studies, notably the success of PjBL-STEM in improving students' scientific skills. However, the studies differ in their research objectives, target subjects, methodologies, and data collection instruments, highlighting varied focuses and anticipated outcomes. For instance, one study may prioritize critical thinking while another emphasizes conceptual understanding. The study concludes that integrating PjBL with STEM significantly enhances students' critical thinking, conceptual grasp, and creative problem-solving abilities. These findings demonstrate that PjBL-STEM is an effective and comprehensive educational strategy, preparing students to meet real-world challenges by developing essential scientific and creative skills.

Abstract

Science, Environmental, Technology, Society Approach (SETS) in Improving Science Literacy of Junior High School Students. This study aims to describe the implementation of science learning with the Science, Environmental, Technology, Society (SETS) approach, improving students' scientific literacy skills. This study uses a descriptive-quantitative research type with a group Pretest Posttest Design and involves 35 students of class VII-K SMP Negeri 1 Wonoayu as subjects. The research instrument is a science literacy test measured using the TOSLS Scientific Literacy indicators developed by Gormally from the Georgia Institute of Technology. The results showed a significant increase in students' scientific literacy with an N-Gain value of 0.74 which is included in the high category. In conclusion, the implementation of the SETS-Based Guided Inquiry Learning Model has proven effective in improving the scientific literacy of junior high school students.

Abstract

Improving Students' Social Skills Through Cooperative Learning: The Effectiveness of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) Model. This research aims to describe the improvement in students' social skills after carrying out the learning process by implementing the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type cooperative model on vibration and wave material. The type of research used is a pre-experimental design with a one-shot case Study design. In this research, the subjects used were students in class VIII of one of the State Middle Schools in Sidoarjo. The indicators used in this research are being able to socialize with other people, being able to interact confidently, showing concern, reporting things accurately, completing tasks, avoiding bad behavior, respecting other people's opinions, controlling emotions, and being friendly. The results of the research show that all indicators have experienced a significant increase in the average social skills of students being well-trained as indicated by an increase in the percentage of students' skills at each meeting. At meetings I, II, and III respectively, the percentage increase was 52%, 71%, and 93%. Based on this, it can be concluded that Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type cooperative learning can be used to train students' social skills which is one aspect of cognitive development in vibration and wave material.

Abstract

Air pollution is still an environmental problem that has not been resolved until now. There are several alternative methods that can be applied to monitor air quality levels, one of which is using bioindicators. Lichens can be used as bioindicators because they are accumulators and are very adaptive to changes in environmental conditions. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of Crustose sp. (Cryptochemua) and Foliose sp. (Parmelia) lichens as bioindicators of air pollution levels. This study used a systematic review method. Literature was selected based on 3 criteria: relevant to the topic, journal articles within 5 years, and from SCOPUS or SINTA accredited journals. After the selection process, 6 articles were selected for review based on the specified criteria. The results showed that to identify Crustose sp. (Cryptochemua) and Foliose sp. (Parmelia) lichens as bioindicators of air pollution, it is not enough to only consider the number of lichens or morphology found. However, it is also necessary to identify the affected lichen species, biotic and abiotic factors in order to obtain effective and valid results. For future researchers, it is recommended to compare the efficiency of Crustose sp. and Foliose sp. lichen plants as bioindicators of air pollution with other plants.

Abstract

This research aimed to enhance problem-solving abilities and improve student learning outcomes. Problem-based learning (PBL) was employed as the instructional model to develop students' problem-solving skills. The study adopted a classroom action research approach spanning two learning cycles, encompassing stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research involved 39 students from class IX E at SMPN 56 Surabaya. Data collection methods include observation, interviews, and written tests. The collected data was processed and analyzed descriptively to illustrate improvements in learning outcomes. The analysis reveals that the implementation of the problem-based learning model resulted in significant enhancements in student learning outcomes across the pre-cycle stage, Cycle I, and Cycle II, categorized as quite good. Notably, there was a 42.07% increase in student learning outcomes from the pre-cycle stage to Cycle I. Moreover, from Cycle I to Cycle II, there was a further increase of 24.37% in student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Pada era pendidikan saat ini hendaknya keterampilan berpikir kritis harus dimliki oleh setiap siswa untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir mereka. Pada kenyataannya justru masih banyak siswa yang tidak dapat menuntaskan soal dengan indikator berpikir kritis dikarenakan kurang efektifnya pembelajaran yang di sekolah. Pembelajaran perlu diubah dengan model pembelajaran yang lebih sesuai seperti pembelajaran Inkuiri terbimbing. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis pada siswa kelas VII di SMP Negeri 56 Surabaya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian yang digunakan pre-experimental design dengan menggunakan satu kelas perlakuan yaitu kelas VII-A berjumlah 31 siswa. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan one group pretest and posttest design. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode tes sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran (pretest dan posttest). Keterampilan berpikir kritis setelah diterapkan pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing pada materi klasifikasi tumbuhan mengalami peningkatan. Persentase rata-rata ketercapaian indikator berpikir kritis sebesar 89% dan memperoleh nilai N-Gain sebesar 0,73 dengan kategori tinggi. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing mampu meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa.

Abstract

Pada proses pembelajaran peserta didik diharapkan aktif terlibat pada saat pembelajaran agar kemampuan berpikir kritis mereka bisa ditingkatkan. Hasil penelitian ini ditujukan untuk menganalisis peningkatan berpikir kritis peserta didik sesudah implementasi model pembelajaran kooperatif STAD dengan e-LKPD berbasis SSCS di kelas VIII SMPN 56 Surabaya. Metode pada penelitian ini memakai deskriptif kuantitatif berjenis poor experimental design menggunakan satu kelas perlakuan kelas VIII yang terdiri dari 31 peserta didik. Rancangan penelitiannya memakai one group pretest posttest design. Data dikumpulan memakai metode tes. Peningkatan berpikir kritis ditunjukkan dengan hasil N-gain berpikir kritis pada materi gelombang yang mendapatkan nilai 0,72 dengan kategori tinggi. Berdasarkan penjabaran diatas, Kesimpulan yang bisa diambil adalah bahwasanya model pembelajaran kooperatif STAD dengan e-LKPD berbasis SSCS dapat menumbuhkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik.

Abstract

Communication skills are essential for interacting socially and conveying and receiving learning material well. This research aims to analyze the improvement of communication skills using the application of the UNO Stacko game. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 56 Surabaya with a sample of 32 students during three meetings. The research method used is descriptive quantitative, and the research design uses a one-shot case study. Samples are carried out by purposive sampling. The data analysis technique used is by using questionnaires and observation. The research results showed increased students' communication skills, as observed from the questionnaires and observations carried out during three meetings. The results of questionnaires and observations are 86.12% and 85.15% in the outstanding category. So, it can be concluded that the UNO Stacko game media can be applied to improve students' communication skills.
