Abstract

Penguasaan Bahasa Inggris sejak dini merupakan hal penting dalam proses pengembangan kemampuan berbahasa khususnya dalam memahami bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa internasional. Minimnya sarana dan wadah Belajar serta kurang maksimalnya proses pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris pada siswa sekolah Dasar di Desa Kunci Kecamatan Dander, Kabupaten Bojonegoro. Berdasarkan masalah tersebut, program pengabdian masyarakat dengan mengusung program bimbingan belajar Bahasa Inggris untuk siswa sekolah dasar dilaksanakan di Desa Kunci Tujuan dari kegiatan ini ialah sebagai wujud pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dalam aspek Pendidikan, khususnya pada penguasaan Bahasa Inggris. Program ini dilaksanakan dengan metode tutoring yakni tutor yang memberikan pembelajaran dan pengajaran berbasis fun learning yang dirancang untuk siswa sekolah dasar. Hasil dari program ini ialah siswa sekolah dasar terbantu dalam pembelajaran Bahasa inggris yang sebelumnya mereka mengalami kendala. Kesimpulannya ialah program pengabdian yang berfokus pada aspek Pendidikan dengan sasaran siswa sekolah dasar dilaksanakan dengan metode tutoring kepada siswa dan hal ini memberikan dampak yang positif dalam peningkatan penguasaan Bahasa global di desa Kunci, Kecamatan Dander Kabupaten Bojonegoro.

Abstract

Bahasa Inggri merupakan salah satu Bahasa internasional yang sangat penting untuk dikuasai. Bahkan Bahasa Inggris menjadi salah satu mata pelajaran wajib yang dipelajari pada tingkatan sekolah menengah pertama hingga tingkat universitas. Salah satu komponen penting dalam Bahasa Inggris ialah penguasaan kosakata. Kosakata (vocabulary) merupakan salah satu komponen Bahasa yang sangat penting pada tahap awal. Desa Glagahwangi Kecamatan Sugihwaras memiliki anak - anak yang memiliki potensi yang baik karena banyak dari mereka antusias dalam mempelajari Bahasa Inggris. Selain itu mereka masih belum memiliki cara yang cukup efektif dalam belajar kosakata. Sehingga perlu diadakan pendampingan dan pelatihan pembelajaran kosakata Bahasa Inggris dengan Interactive Language Games yang interaktif, menyenangkan dan mampu meningkatkan motivasi dan penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Inggris secara baik pada anak – anak di desa Glagahwangi di Desa Glagahwangi Kecamatan Sugihwaras. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini ialah untuk memberikan pelatihan Interactive activity games untuk belajar kosakata Bahasa Inggris kepada anak – anak desa Glagahwangi. Tahapan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini ialah penyamapaian dan pemaparan materi, pelatihan dan praktek kegiatan interactive activity games. Kegiatan pengabdian ini berjalan dengan baik. Anak – Naka dapat menerapkan pembelajaran kosakata di sekolah dan dirumah.

Abstract

This study intends to ascertain (1) How do pre-service English teachers conceptualize TPACK and its components, (2) What challenges do pre-service English teachers encounter in implementing TPACK during teaching practice on independent curriculum, (3) What strategies do pre-service English teachers employ to address these challenges. The research participants were students of English Education study programs from different universities who have practiced teaching English in the independent curriculum. The data for this study were collected through questionnaires and interviews. The result of this study revealed, (1) many ways to conceptualize TPACK in learning such as utilizing technology such as PowerPoint, Canva, Google Form, Quizizz, and others. And also conceptualize pedagogy knowledge to approach students such as checking student understanding through questions at the end of learning and evaluating the concept of learning content based on how well students understand and are interested in the material, (2) These challenges come from internal and external factor such as lack of time to approach students, less responsive students, participants must always innovate to create interesting learning concepts that require process and consistency, (3) respondents have alternatives to face challenges in implementing TPACK, such as making a second plan if there are problems related to technology, asking questions and making approaches outside of class hours and respondents tried to increase their knowledge about TPACK by frequently from the internet.

Abstract

This research was intended to investigate pre-service English teacher's perception of Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) during virtual teaching internships. The problem comes from changing the learning system from offline to online due to pandemic covid 19. Automatically, it influences the implementation of teaching internships. As a result, preschool teachers who carry out the task must adjust the situation. This research is classified into qualitative research. The research participant was five English pre-service teachers who took teaching internship in several schools. The data was obtained by distributing questionnaires, conducting interviews, and analyzing reflective journals. The result shows that EFL pre-service teachers had positive perceptions of the use of MALL in teaching English. Pre-service English teachers understand and are aware of MALL during virtual teaching internships. While the obstacles faced by the Pre-service teacher came from the unstable connection internet access, operating new features, and controlling the students. In conclusion, English pre-service teachers have a positive perception of dealing with MALL application in virtual teaching internships.

Abstract

This development research aims to develop Eco-ELT textbooks for young learners. This research uses the Research and Development (RD) method with the 4-D (Four D) model. The development steps carried out by researchers are 1). Define, 2). Design, 3). Develop, and 4). Disseminate. The participants in this research were 31 fourth-grade elementary school students, 14 students from SDN Glagahwangi 1, and 17 students from SDN Glagahwangi 2. Data collection techniques used interviews and Likert scale questionnaires to obtain responses. Validation is carried out by material expert and media expert. To determine the suitability of the product is obtained from the results of trials and responses from educators and students. The media developed was tested on 14 fourth-grade students at SDN Galagahwangi 1 Sugihwaras Bojonegoro. The results of material expert validation produced a score of 122 with a percentage of 97.6%, including very valid criteria related to contextual evaluation factors, practicality, and suitability of content. With very valid criteria, the average score for graphic feasibility elements obtained in media expert validation was 95% with a total score of 129. In limited-scale testing, students at SDN Glagahwangi 1 Sugihwaras Bojonegoro obtained an average score of 92.5% of the total score of 972 is a very worthy criterion. Meanwhile, the average answer score from educators is 94% with a total score of 141 which is in the very worthy range. From these results, it is concluded that Eco-ELT-based textbooks for young students are adequate and appropriate for use to support the English language learning process in the fourth-grade elementary school independent curriculum.

Abstract

The research investigated non-English major students' views and perspectives on learning English through Duolingo. Qualitative methods were used, with 30 questionnaire items and 15 interview prompts to gather data on students' perception of using Duolingo to learn English, as well as the difficulties and obstacles they encountered. The participants were 41 undergraduate students in the sixth semester of the Early Childhood Education major at a university in Bojonegoro. This research focused on using Duolingo as a learning tool to enhance the teaching and learning process, considering the impact of technological advancements in education. The results showed that nearly 99% of participants viewed Duolingo as useful and functional. Challenges and obstacles in using the application for English learning were categorized into internal factors (mood, laziness, lack of knowledge, and time constraints) and external factors (network issues, smartphone usage, and application errors).Keywords: Duolingo application; learning English; English learning application; English learning media

Abstract

Perempuan amat penting untuk diciptakan dalam tata Kelola desa yang baik. Sehingga mampu menunjang jalannya komunikasi dan tata Kelola yang baik. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini ialah untuk melakukan sosialisasi desa ramah anak dan Perempuan serta pelatihan pembuatan makanan sehat untuk mencegah stunting pada anak. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini ialah metode pemberdayaan dengan beberapa aktivitas yakni sosialisasi dan pelatihan dengan menerapkan ceramah interaktif serta diskusi dan pelatihan langsung. Peseta dari kegiatan ini ialah warga desa sumberejo, yang terdiri dari ibu – ibu yang tergabung dalam organisasi perempuan yakni fatayat NU desa Sumberharjo. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah wawancara mendalam dan kuesioner yang diberikan kepada peserta pelatihan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini ialah pemberian edukasi dan makanan/ snack sehat untuk mencegah stunting yang diolah dari bahan pangan yakni pisang. Kegiatan ini 85% berdampak pada pemahaman perempuan terkait makanan lokal yang memiliki gizi tinggi bagi anak. Olahan tersebut berupa nugget pisang dan ice cream pisang yang dapat dijadikan sebagai snack atau camilan sehat bagi anak untuk pencegahan stunting. Selain itu, warga juga mendapatkan edukasi tentang desa ramah anak dan perempuan sehingga warga memiliki kesadaran untuk menciptakan lingkungan yang baik dan mencegah terjadinya tindakan kriminal bagi anak dan Perempuan. Sebanyak 90% peserta bertekad untuk mengoptimalkan kegiatan tersebut.

Abstract

Environmental issues have emerged widely recognized as global issues in the world. Consequently, they have attracted significant attentions from various academic disciplines, all dedicated preventing further harm to the environment. Upon reflection, it becomes evident that these issues are intrinsically linked to the behavior, awareness, and actions of all communities. Therefore, English Language Teaching (ELT) has a unique opportunity to contribute by providing information and fostering eco-green awareness among learners. To achieve this, a comprehensive research project was undertaken at a university in Bojonegoro to investigate and examine the EFL learners’ perception on implementation of e-reading module based eco-ELT and how EFL learners perceive eco-ELT. This research used mixed method which present and analyze both quantitative and qualitative analysis. The research involved 45 EFL learners, and data was collected through questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaire encompassed various indicators related to the clarity and sustainability of the reading material, presenting reading materials based Eco-ELT themes, and ease of access. The data was analyzed by using data verification, scoring and calculating the percentage of each item and interpret the script of interview. The finding reveals that the majority of the EFL learners have positive perception and acceptance on the use of e-reading module based on eco-ELT in EFL class. The average score was about 50% EFL learners shows their positive perception on the implementation of e-reading module based eco-ELT. While, EFL learners view eco-ELT offers new insights in acquiring information about environment and comprehend reading material while doing the reading exercise. EFL learners imply eco-ELT can encourage them to practice green and sustainable lifestyle to save the earth. Dealing with the findings, eco-ELT can be taken into account as a new innovative approach to develop teaching and learning materials. Consequently, the learners not only acquire the knowledge but also enhance and encourage their characters to love nature.

Abstract

This research explores how Generation Z perceives learning English pronunciation using the social media platform TikTok.  Generation Z is known for its familiarity with technology and social media, including TikTok, which is incredibly popular among them. The main objective of this research is to understand how Generation Z perceives and engages with TikTok as a tool for learning English pronunciation, as well as the challenges and opportunities they encounter. The participants in this study were 10th-grade students from SMKN 3 Bojonegoro who were studying PSPT 1 and 2. The research utilized a qualitative approach, combining questionnaire surveys and in-depth interviews to gather comprehensive data on the students' experiences with using TikTok videos to learn English pronunciation. The results revealed that TikTok is a preferred platform for students to practice English, with 58.6% of students feeling comfortable using TikTok for pronunciation practice. Additionally, 63.8% of students stated that TikTok boosted their self-confidence in practicing English pronunciation. The platform offers opportunities for students to practice English in a relaxed, flexible, and engaging manner, thereby increasing motivation. However, the study also identified some challenges and obstacles faced by students, such as being easily distracted by entertainment content, which can lead to a lack of focus, as well as a lack of direct feedback for error correction. In conclusion, this research suggests that TikTok can be an effective tool for Generation Z to learn English pronunciation, as long as engaging and collaborative content is utilized. It is hoped that these findings will contribute to the development of more modern and interactive language learning methods on digital platforms like TikTok.

Abstract

Environmental problems are still a big and complicated problem. All groups including educators, communities, and institutions as well as the government actively participate in efforts to maintain and overcome these problems. The purpose of this community service activity is to conduct socialization and education to cadres and PKK members of Kedungadem sub-district and provide Eco brick training in an effort to utilize plastic waste and increase community eco green awareness in processing plastic waste. This activity was carried out by applying socialization, training and evaluation methods. Based on the results of this activity, the socialization activities went well and PKK members also received education about climate literacy. Then proceed with ecobrik training to utilize plastic waste and plastic bottles into useful products such as flower pots, small chairs and others. After the training, we continued with an evaluation by conducting interviews and filling out an activity evaluation questionnaire. Based on these results, the socialization and ecobrick training activities went smoothly and this had an impact on increasing the understanding of PKK cadres regarding the ability and skills in utilizing plastik bottles and household plastic waste..
