Abstract

The research was conducted in pit 15 of PT Multi Harapan Utama. In the process of mining activities in pit 15 in May 2023 in seam 14, 14X, 14XL, 15U, 15U1, and 15U2. There are several activities that result in coal losses, the amount of coal loss is 685 tons so the mining recovery is 98.74%. Coal loss in pit 15 occurred due to incomplete coal mining, coal re-cleaning, scattered coal not directly transported to the stockpile, waterlogged loading points, coal weighing, and distance of coal survey data collection.

Abstract

Blasting activities carried out in mining activities always produce effects that will have an impact on the surrounding area of the blasting site, from some of the blasting effects that exist one of which is soil vibration, so that at the research site in Pit Jongkang which is close to the village with a distance of approximately 300-400m it is very important to measure the level of vibration leading to the village so that the results of the vibration caused by the blasting process are obtained. Based on the results of the analysis obtained the effect of the explosive charge on the vibration of the soil that is the more the explosive charge of the resulting vibration will be greater. And with the holes that explode simultaneously, the vibration caused will be large so that the use of delay time is needed to minimize the presence of holes that explode simultaneously so that the resulting vibration does not exceed the 2 mm/s vibration limit. For recommendations on the maximum amount of explosive charge so that the vibration caused does not exceed the PPV standard, namely at a distance of 300 m, and 400 m by 36 kg, and 64 kg, perdelay. With the use of the recommended surface delay is a pair of surface delay 42 ms and 67 ms in the echelon cut circuit pattern, because it slightly efficiencies the time and the resulting PPV does not exceed 2 mm/s.

Abstract

Soil is an important component in the natural environment which has an important role in supporting human life and the ecosystem as a whole. One key aspect of soil properties is its erodibility, which determines how susceptible the soil is to erosion. This research aims to assess the level of soil erodibility in the disposal area, which is the location where overburden is deposited in coal mines. Soil erodibility is influenced by a number of factors, including texture, structure, organic matter content, and soil permeability. Laboratory analysis methods are used to measure soil erodibility from samples taken from the disposal area. The results of this research provide a deeper understanding of the potential for erosion in disposal areas and provide a basis for the development of effective erosion control strategies to minimize environmental and mine operational impacts. These findings are important for the coal mining industry in managing the environment sustainably and ensuring the continuity of their operations.

Abstract

Rock strength is the ability of a rock to maintain its strength until it breaks when a force is applied. Rock compressive strength is a very important parameter in the world of mining. The compressive strength of the rock determines the mining method that will be used. Several things that influence the compressive strength of rock include porosity, true specific gravity, and water content. With the same volume, if the porosity value is high, the true specific gravity value will be low because of the large number of pores in the rock. This allows the compressive strength value to be low because the rock will crumble more easily when pressure is applied. After testing, the highest compressive strength value was in the Pulaubalang Formation, location 2, with a value of 2.19 MPa. Meanwhile, the lowest compressive strength value was in the Kampungbaru Formation, location 1, with a value of 1.49 MPa. In accordance with the stratigraphic layers in the Kutai Basin, the Pulaubalang Formation is older than the Kampungbaru Formation.

Abstract

To determine the mineral content and composition of a rock, a petrographic test is carried out using a thin section method. Petrographic test is known as an efficient test of time and energy with accurate results in obtaining the composition and mineral content of rocks. The Point Load test is an index test that has been widely used to predict the UCS value of a rock indirectly in the field. This is due to the simple test procedure, easy sample preparation and can be done in the field, so that the strength of the rock can be quickly known in the field before testing in the laboratory.

Abstract

Coal mining activities often result in acid mine drainage (AMD), which can cause environmental pollution if not properly managed. This study aims to evaluate the potential use of fly ash from the Stream Power Plant (PLTU) Tenggarong to mitigate the impacts of AMD, specifically targeting iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), and pH parameters. Acid Mine drainage is formed when sulfide minerals oxidize, producing acidic compounds that can harm the environment. This research focuses on analyzing the ability of fly ash to adsorb iron and manganese from AMD solutions, as well its capability to increase solution pH. Based on the conducted research, the optimum pH value was achieved when using 10 grams and 15 grams of fly ash in the adsorption process. The optimum concentration of iron (Fe) was attained using 10 grams to 15 grams of fly ash, while for manganese (Mn), it was achieved with 20 grams to 25 grams of fly ash. The adsorption process using 25 grams of fly ash showed the highest efficiency in reducing iron (Fe) concentration by 93.78 % and manganese (Mn) concentration by 75.47 %.

Abstract

Drilling is an essential operation in mining activities, particularly in borehole preparation for blasting purposes. The efficiency of blasting hole preparation depends significantly on the drilling speed to penetrate the rock formations.Drilling Rate Index (DRI) measures the ease or difficulty of drilling through rock formations. It combines two tests: Brittleness (S20) and SJ value. DRI serves as a common metric to predict drilling capabilities and is classified according to a table classification of drilling rate index. The classification of DRI values for sandstone and mudstone of Balikpapan Formation at PT. RCI Job Site ABK indicates a very high classification with DRI values ranging from 66 to 86. Testing results for samples SBP1 (DRI 75.9), SBP2 (DRI 81.7), SBL1 (DRI 66.6), and SBL2 (DRI 71.1) all fall within the very high classification range.

Abstract

The activity of dismantling shale sometimes does not align with the rating of the shale itself. Although shale generally has low durability, some types of shale exhibit considerable strength. Therefore, if the tools used are not suitable, the excavation process becomes inefficient. One shale classification method proposed by Franklin (1982) is by determining the value of slake durability index, plasticity index, and point load index. If the slake durability value exceeds 80 percent, testing continues with point load testing. However, if the slake durability value is below 80 percent, then liquid limit and plastic limit tests are conducted to obtain its plasticity index. This study is applied to the Kampungbaru Formation at PT Bintang Prima Energi Pratama. The shale testing results of the Kampung Baru Formation at PT Bintang Prima Energi yielded slake durability index values below 80 percent, thus the shale ratings based on slake durability index and plasticity index values, for KB1BL1 are 4.2; KB1BL2: 3.5; KB1BL3: 2.55; KB1BL4: 3.35; KB1BL5: 3.15; and KB1BL6: 3.65. With an average shale rating value of 3.57. The excavation tool used for these rocks is a backhoe.

Abstract

Water absorption test and compressive strength test were conducted to determine the quality standards of paving blocks. This research was conducted by using a mixture of fly ash, bottom ash and cement. The tests carried out in this study were water absorption test and compressive strength test using 3 compositions of 5%, 8% and 12%. In each composition using 3 samples for testing. Tests were carried out with a vulnerable time between 7 days, 14 days and 28 days. The highest water absorption results in the 8% composition with water absorption of 1.467%. The highest compressive strength results in the 8% composition with a compressive strength of 10.479 Mpa.
