Abstract

This research aims to find out whether the Guided Inquiry learning model is better than Discovery Learning in improving scientific literacy activities and student learning outcomes on reaction rate material. The research method used is quasi experimental. The sample from this research consisted of two classes, namely experimental class I which was taught using the guided inquiry learning model, totaling 29 students and experimental class II, which was taught using the Discovery Learning model, totaling 27 students. The results of data analysis show that the average learning outcomes of students using Guided Inquiry (80.69) are higher than the average learning outcomes of students taught using the Discovery Learning model (74.63) and the average scientific literacy activities of students using Guided Inquiry (79.15 ) higher than the average using the Discovery Learning model (73.72). Hypothesis results using the right-hand t-test and α = 0.05 obtained tcount > ttable (2.34 > 1.675) for students' scientific literacy activities and tcount > ttable (2.49 > 1.675) for student learning outcomes so that in this study the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H₂) is accepted. Thus, it was found that the Guided Inquiry learning model was better than Discovery Learning in improving scientific literacy activities and student learning outcomes on reaction rate material.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a thermochemistry e-module based on Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) for Grade XI students at SMAN 14 Medan. Based on observations, thermochemistry is considered a difficult topic for students due to the lack of textbooks, learning resources, and appropriate learning media. This research is a development study using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The developed e-module was validated by two chemistry lecturers and one chemistry teacher, and its practicality was tested by 31 students from class XI-3. The initial validation results showed a score of 89.7% for the material aspect and 85.05% for the media aspect, both categorized as very valid. After revisions, the scores increased to 91.8% for the material aspect and 90.8% for the media aspect. The practicality test based on students’ responses gained a score of 90.1%, indicating that the e-module is very practical for use in learning. Therefore, the POGIL-based thermochemistry e-module is proven to be valid and practical, and it effectively supports students’ interest and understanding in learning thermochemistry.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility and student response to the development of a Problem-Based Integrated Science Literacy Student Worksheet (LKPD) for Thermochemistry. The study used Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Purposive sampling was used to select 35 students from class XI IPA 1 of SMA Negeri 1 Bangun Purba as the experimental class. The instruments used were a BSNP-based feasibility assessment sheet and a student response questionnaire. The results showed that the developed LKPD was valid and highly suitable for use. This was demonstrated by the average feasibility score of 3.62. The results of the student response questionnaire showed an average score of 3.65, indicating a high level of student interest. It can be concluded that the development of a Problem-Based Integrated Science Literacy Student Worksheet (LKPD) integrated with science literacy is highly effective as a supplementary teaching material in schools because it can improve students' critical thinking skills and motivation to learn thermochemistry.

Abstract

In stoichiometry learning process, mostly educators focus on calculations. Students are not invited to think more critically about stoichiometry application in life. This constraint makes teachers have to develop new learning models, including Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) model, and Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) based on chemical literacy. This study aims to develop general chemistry teaching materials on stoichiometry using IBL and STEM models based on chemical literacy that are feasible (valid) and capable of improving students' LOTS and HOTS abilities. The development model used is the ADDIE model, with research subjects of 34 students. The result shows that stoichiometry teaching materials using the IBL STEM model based on chemical literacy are valid (feasible) to be applied in learning with an average score of 4.42 for the material aspect and 4.55 for the design aspect. The developed teaching materials have been proven to significantly improve students’ LOTS and HOTS abilities.

Abstract

This research was conducted in November 2023-February 2024 at SMAN 1 Percut Sei Tuan with the aim of finding out: (1) the feasibility of e- learning modules based on Project Based Learning (PjBL) on periodic system of elements material based on the BSNP assessment instrument consisting of content feasibility, appropriateness of presentation, appropriateness of language and appropriateness of graphics, (2) practicality of e- learning modules based on Project Based Learning (PjBL) on material on the periodic system of elements through responses from chemistry teachers and students. This research was carried out with Research and Development (Research and Development ) using the 4D development model ( define, design, develop, disseminate) which is limited to the develop stage . The initial stages carried out in this research were initial analysis, ATP analysis, and analysis of teaching materials. Then the design and creation of e- learning modules based on Project Based Learning (PjBL) were carried out on the material of the periodic system of elements. The final result of the e- module is converted into a flipbook with the help of the Flip PDF Professional application . Then the e-module was validated for its suitability by 6 validators. After carrying out the feasibility validation stage and the revision or improvement stage, a practicality test was carried out through the responses of 2 chemistry teachers and 31 students. The results of the e- module feasibility percentage obtained in the research were content feasibility of 94%, presentation feasibility of 95%, language feasibility of 96%, and graphic feasibility of 85%, where the four assessments were included in the "very feasible" criteria. ". In the practicality test, the percentage obtained by the teacher was 96% and by the students it was obtained at 90%, with the criterion "very practical". Keywords: E- Module, project based learning, periodic system of elements, feasibility, practicality.DOI: 10.23960/jppk.v13.i1.2024.07
