Abstract

Manure is the group of organic fertilizers that play a role in increasing the biological, chemical and physical activities of the soil so that the soil becomes fertile and good for plant growth. The use of manure in Wamena is not yet significant because the community believes that organic farming is actually agriculture without involving any input other than planting seeds. This study aims to determine the effect of cow manure on the growth and yield of local varieties of Wamena shallots and to determine the appropriate dosage of cow manure for onion growth and yield. The study was was using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of 4 doses of cow manure, that is without treatment of cow manure (S0), treatment doses of 50 g/polybag (S1), treatment doses of 100 g/polybag (S2), and treatment doses of 150 g/polybag (S3). If the statistical test results show a significantly different effect, then it is further tested using the LSD (Least Significant Difference) at the 5% test level. The results showed that effect of cow manure had an influence on the growth and yield of local Wamena varieties of shallots, which was shown by the treatment of S2 (100 g/polybag) on the parameters of plant height of 5 MST and fresh weight of plant leaves of 9 MST. Whereas S3 (150 g/polybag) treatment gave the best effect on the number of leaves at 1 MST, leaf fresh weight and leaf dry weight.

Abstract

Paddy gogo is one type of non-irrigated paddy that can grow on limited inputs, one of which is the problem of water availability. Paddy gogo can grow on various types of soil, including sub-optimal land in Wamena. It is said to be sub-optimal considering the ability of the soil in the study area is a type of soil with very low nutrient content. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of NASA organic liquid fertilizer on the growth and yield of 5 varieties of upland rice plants that were tested in the sub-optimal land of Wamena. This research was conducted in March-August 2019. The study was arranged in factorial research design, namely 5 types of varieties as factor 1 (variety of Inpago Unsoed 1, Inpago Unsoed Parimas, Inpari 28, Inpago 9 and one type of Local varieties as Comparator) and the concentration of NASA liquid organic fertilizer as a second factor (150 ml/plot). The results showed that the best growth was shown by varieties Local of Wamena (Moai) with the highest appearance of plant height and Inpago Unsoed 1 varieties which showed a large number of producing offspring. When viewed from physiological and production parameters, Inpago 9 variety shows the highest leaf area index and grain weight per clump. Furthermore, Wamena Local variety showed the highest value of stomata density, Inpago Unsoed Parimas variety showed the highest total chlorophyll value and Inpago Inpari 28 variety was the producer of the highest weight value of 1000 seeds.Keywords: Liquid Organic Fertilizer; Paddy Gogo; Sub-optimal land

Abstract

Innovations are required to increase the production of cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L), mainly due to the need for more quality land, such as dry land in Wamena. The innovation uses biological microorganisms that positively impact plants, such as arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF). Therefore, this experiment aimed to determine the response of the growth and yield of cayenne pepper plants cultivated in dry land to the application of mycorrhiza. The research was conducted using a completely randomized design with one factor: the mycorrhizae dose (0, 20, 50, 80, and 120 g). The research results were analyzed using ANOVA, and the analysis process continued with the 5% level DMRT test. The research results on the growth of cayenne pepper are visible in the plant height parameters of the 80 g treatment (75 DAP: 93.4 cm) and the 120 g treatment (95 DAP: 103.3 cm). Then, the stem diameter parameter showed a real influence by the 120 g mycorrhiza treatment at 35 and 75 DAP and the 80 g mycorrhiza treatment at 95 DAP. The excellent response of plants to the 80 g and 120 g mycorrhiza treatments also impacted the plant's total chlorophyll content and the number of leaves produced, which then impacted the number of productive branches. So, the effect on the yield of cayenne pepper plants is that the number of fruits treated with 80 g of mycorrhiza was 89.7 fruits, with the weight of the heaviest cayenne pepper fruit being 68.0 g by the treatment of 120 g of mycorrhiza with a fresh weight of 17.6 g and a total dry plant of 10.2 g compared to the control.
